You can attach a YouTube Giving fundraiser to a scheduled YouTube livestream if your channel and the nonprofit meet YouTube’s eligibility rules. In YouTube Studio, open Earn → Giving, create the fundraiser, choose an eligible U.S. nonprofit, add the scheduled stream, and publish. The Donate control appears only after the fundraiser’s start date. If YouTube Giving is unavailable to you, Google for Nonprofits documents linking an external fundraiser from a video end screen.
Check eligibility before you plan the fundraiser
Your channel
YouTube’s current guidance, checked in 2026, says channels generally need to be based in a supported location, have at least 10,000 subscribers, participate in the YouTube Partner Program, and not be designated Made for Kids. Some channels outside those criteria may still see access, so check YouTube Studio rather than treating the subscriber threshold as the sole test. YouTube’s supported-location list can change; confirm your country on its YouTube Giving FAQ before scheduling.
The nonprofit
The recipient must be a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) public charity that participates in Google for Nonprofits, opts into online fundraising through GuideStar, and complies with YouTube monetization policies and Community Guidelines. Private foundations are not supported. A nonprofit missing from the selection list may not meet one of these requirements or may have opted out. You can request that a charity be considered through the setup flow, but that does not guarantee approval. See Google for Nonprofits’ YouTube Giving guidance for the recipient criteria.
These are separate checks: an eligible channel does not make every charity selectable, and an eligible charity does not grant an ineligible channel access to YouTube Giving.

Create and attach the fundraiser
- Sign in to YouTube Studio. Confirm that the channel you intend to stream from is selected.
- Open Earn → Giving. Choose Get started, then Create a fundraiser. The fundraiser setup is also available in Live Control Room under Advanced Settings.
- Select the nonprofit. Choose an available U.S. 501(c)(3) organization. If it does not appear, use the request route if offered; the organization must still satisfy YouTube’s criteria.
- Enter the fundraiser details. Add a clear title and description. Google suggests setting a goal and duration. Tell viewers what the organization does and what the fundraiser is intended to support; avoid implying that donations are guaranteed to go to a specific restricted purpose unless the charity confirms that.
- Add the scheduled livestream. Select the stream that should carry the fundraiser. Double-check the date and stream before continuing.
- Publish the fundraiser. The Donate control appears on the watch page or in live chat after the fundraiser’s start date, not simply because setup is complete. Leave time to verify the published stream and fundraiser before going live.
You still need a valid YouTube livestream setup. YouTube’s general streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. It supports mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming; use an existing suitable setup rather than buying equipment unless you actually need it. What viewers see and how donations work
When live chat is enabled, viewers see the Donate control in chat. Without live chat, it appears next to or below the stream. You can monitor donation activity in Live Control Room with the Viewer Activity Widget. Viewers can donate from the video page, and on mobile the live chat appears in portrait mode.

For a live-chat donation, a viewer can choose whether to make it public. A public donation displays the account name and amount to the creator; choosing anonymous does not show the username in chat. YouTube’s donor guidance says the creator and nonprofit do not receive the donor’s personal information through this donation flow. Refer viewers to YouTube’s Giving FAQ and donor help for details on the interface and privacy.
Donation distribution
YouTube states that 100% of a contribution goes to the nonprofit and that YouTube pays transaction fees. Its published arrangement says Network for Good collects and distributes donations at Google’s request. Disbursement is typically monthly; amounts below $10 are disbursed annually. Network for Good has exclusive legal control of donations after collection under that arrangement. If it cannot disburse funds to the selected nonprofit, it may distribute them to another qualifying U.S. nonprofit. These are YouTube’s published terms, not a guarantee about a particular campaign, a donor’s tax treatment, or the nonprofit’s use of funds; consult the charity and applicable tax guidance for those questions.

Plan around the livestream and monetization limits
Adding a fundraiser does not affect ads, according to YouTube. Other interaction features do change: Live Chat Donations turn off Super Chat and Super Stickers on that livestream; the donate button cannot be used with members-only live chat; and Super Thanks is unavailable on videos with Donations. YouTube describes Live Chat Donations as replacing Super Chat for Good, so present the native Donate control—not Super Chat—as the charitable giving route. Confirm the current settings in Studio before promoting the stream.
If YouTube Giving is not available
Google for Nonprofits suggests that creators who are not eligible can link to an external fundraiser from a video end screen. An end screen appears during the last 5–20 seconds of a video according to Google’s guidance. This is a link to an external campaign, not the native YouTube Donate control; viewers leave YouTube to review and use the other service’s payment flow. GoFundMe and JustGiving are examples named by Google, not endorsements or a guarantee that any campaign on those services qualifies for YouTube features. Keep the stream running reliably
For an ordinary one-time fundraiser, choose a streaming method that suits the event and keep the encoder, device, and connection ready for the scheduled start.
