Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo use less cellular data when streaming to YouTube in Streamlabs Mobile, lower the stream’s max bitrate in Streaming Settings first. If needed, also reduce resolution or frame rate. Each change trades some image quality or smoothness for lower data use, so test the broadcast on your actual phone and connection rather than relying on a universal preset.
Which settings reduce data use?
Bitrate is the direct control: it determines how much video data the stream sends each second. Lowering the max bitrate reduces that video data rate, but can make fine detail less clear and fast movement look blocky. Resolution and frame rate also affect how much visual information the stream carries and what bitrate is needed to keep it looking good.
- Max bitrate: Lower this first to reduce the stream’s transmitted video data rate.
- Resolution: If the picture still needs a lower data rate, choose a lower output resolution if your app and device offer one. The image will have less detail.
- Frame rate: Lowering frame rate can make motion less smooth, but may help the stream look acceptable at a lower bitrate.
Streamlabs’ general bitrate guidance, last updated July 8, 2026, suggests 3,000 Kbps for 720p at 30 FPS and 4,500 Kbps for 720p at 60 FPS. It also lists 4,500 Kbps for 1080p at 30 FPS and 6,000 Kbps for 1080p at 60 FPS. These are general recommendations, not guaranteed low-data presets for every phone, scene or mobile network. Streamlabs advises beginning around 720p/30 FPS and increasing only while monitoring performance. Streamlabs’ bitrate guidance
Change the settings in Streamlabs Mobile
- Connect YouTube. In Streamlabs Mobile’s account or platform settings, connect your YouTube account. Streamlabs’ mobile live-streaming guide describes connecting a platform and setting up a stream; the available screens can vary by app version and device.
- Open Streaming Settings. From the app’s main menu, select Streaming Settings.
- Lower max bitrate. Reduce the max bitrate in a small increment, then check the picture and stream stability. The exact control and available values may differ by phone and app version.
- Adjust resolution or frame rate if necessary. If the lower bitrate makes the picture unsatisfactory, try a lower resolution or frame rate, then reassess. Streamlabs Mobile lists output resolution, expected frame rate and max bitrate among its video settings, though options depend on the device and app version. See Streamlabs’ mobile capability information.
- Test under real conditions. Start a short test stream using the same kind of scene and cellular connection you expect to use. Look at fine detail and motion, and watch for lag, buffering or dropped frames. Change one setting at a time so you can identify what improved or worsened the result.
Estimate cellular data without guessing
Your cellular plan carries the stream’s ongoing upload, but Streamlabs’ published guidance does not give a verified per-hour total for specific Streamlabs Mobile YouTube settings. The bitrate examples above describe video data rate, not a guaranteed total cellular usage figure for a particular stream. Avoid treating them as a promise of a particular number of gigabytes per hour: actual consumption depends on the selected bitrate and the stream’s operation, and the available sources do not quantify that total.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
For a practical estimate, compare your phone or carrier’s data-use reading before and after a test stream of a known duration, using the same settings you intend to keep. Your device’s reading may include other app or network activity, so close unrelated data-heavy apps and treat the result as an estimate, not a Streamlabs-specific measurement.
What to check if the stream looks poor or unstable
- Fast motion turns blocky: The bitrate may be too low for the scene. Raise it a little if your connection can sustain it, or reduce resolution or frame rate so the available bitrate is less heavily stretched.
- Fine details are indistinct: A low bitrate or resolution can remove detail. Increase one setting gradually and check whether the cellular connection remains stable.
- Lag, buffering or dropped frames appear: The connection may not sustain the selected bitrate. Lower the bitrate and test again. Streamlabs notes that a connection unable to support the bitrate can lead to lag, buffering or dropped frames. Its bitrate guidance recommends considering upload speed alongside resolution and frame rate.
- You cannot find an option: Available controls depend on the device and app version. Check the current Streaming Settings screen and Streamlabs’ mobile capability information rather than assuming every phone exposes identical choices.
- The connection varies unpredictably: Streamlabs describes Network Boost as a Streamlabs Ultra feature intended to improve reliability on unpredictable mobile connections. It is not described as a data-saving feature, so do not enable it expecting a lower data rate.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel built from uploaded recordings or a playlist—not a live camera stream—StreamNeo is a different approach. Upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud loops the uploaded content, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
