Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThere is no single likely cause without the MediaLive alert and YouTube’s stream-health message. A “disconnect” can mean MediaLive lost its RTMP destination and exhausted retries, YouTube rejected or flagged the ingest, the incoming source failed, or viewers alone experienced playback interruptions. Check both ends and compare their timestamps before changing settings.
First, identify what is actually disconnecting
Write down what happened and where it appeared. These are different symptoms, not interchangeable descriptions:
- MediaLive reports an output or destination failure: investigate the RTMP output connection and its retry settings.
- YouTube Live Control Room reports an ingest or stream-health error: inspect the message, stream key, and encoder output profile.
- The picture freezes or disappears, but the destination connection remains open: check for input loss or an upstream source problem.
- Only viewers report interruptions: confirm stream health and whether the issue is at YouTube ingest, playback, or an individual viewer’s connection.
YouTube Live Control Room displays stream health and specific error messages while a stream is live. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance also recommends checking the encoder’s output and CPU load, then testing outbound connectivity if the encoder output appears healthy.
Read the MediaLive alert in context
Capture the full alert text or code, the affected input or output, and its timestamp. AWS documents RTMP input alerts including 5308 (RTMP server disconnected), 5305 (stream not found), 5307 (no audio/video), and 5309 (connection failed). These codes describe RTMP input conditions; they do not, on their own, prove that the MediaLive-to-YouTube output disconnected. See AWS’s RTMP input alert reference.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Be careful to distinguish an input alert from an output event. A failed source entering MediaLive and a failed destination receiving MediaLive are different links in the workflow and call for different checks.
Check MediaLive’s RTMP output reconnection settings
For an RTMP output, inspect the configured cache length, cache-full behavior, restart delay, connection retry interval, and retry count. AWS describes how these fields govern reconnection in its RTMP connection guidance.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Cache-full behavior: determines whether MediaLive disconnects immediately or waits for the server. When configured to wait, it can wait up to five minutes.
- Restart delay: how long MediaLive waits after a disconnect before beginning reconnection attempts.
- Retry interval and retry count: determine how frequently and how many times MediaLive attempts to reconnect. If the configured retries are exhausted, that output stops.
- Cache length: review the value alongside the cache-full behavior and the timing of the failure; do not assume changing it will fix an ingest or source problem.
Compare the channel’s actual values with the sequence and timestamps of the failure. A retry setting explains what MediaLive does after a disconnect; it does not identify why the destination stopped accepting the connection.
Separate input loss from an output disconnect
MediaLive handles input loss separately from RTMP output reconnection. For an RTMP output group, pausing delivery after input loss does not close the underlying RTMP connection. So if the destination connection stays up while the video freezes or vanishes, investigate the MediaLive input and upstream source rather than treating the symptom as proof of an output disconnect. AWS documents this distinction in its input-loss behavior guidance.

Verify YouTube ingest health and stream configuration
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and read the current stream-health message. Record the exact wording and time; “poor health” or a viewer report alone is less useful than the specific error.
- Confirm the configured destination and stream key in the MediaLive channel against the intended YouTube live stream. YouTube’s general troubleshooting guidance says to check the stream key when an encoder cannot start.
- Inspect what the encoder is actually sending. Check its output and CPU load. If output appears healthy but delivery still fails, investigate outbound network connectivity, as YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance advises.
- Compare the output profile with YouTube’s current encoder recommendations. Check protocol, codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, rate-control mode, and keyframe interval against the applicable profile in YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed four seconds. Recommended bitrate depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate, so use the row for the stream’s actual profile rather than applying one bitrate to every stream. YouTube also recommends testing before an event and monitoring stream health while it runs.
Correlate the events before changing settings
Use the same time window to compare the MediaLive alert or output event, YouTube’s health message, and any source-side encoder or network event. If MediaLive logs a destination disconnect and YouTube reports an ingest problem at the same time, investigate the output path and ingest configuration. If MediaLive reports input loss while the output connection remains open, focus upstream. If neither side reports a delivery fault, establish whether interruptions are limited to viewer playback.

The decisive details for diagnosing a specific case are the exact MediaLive alert, whether the channel output stopped or playback alone dropped, the destination protocol, the configured retry and cache values, YouTube’s health message, and the output codec, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate. Without those details, no root cause or setting change can be confirmed.

| Symptom | What it may indicate | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| MediaLive output disconnects, retries, then stops | The RTMP destination connection failed and configured retries ran out. | Review the output’s cache-full behavior, cache length, restart delay, retry interval, and retry count; compare event times with YouTube’s health message. |
| RTMP alert 5305, 5307, 5308, or 5309 | An RTMP input alert, not by itself an output diagnosis. | Identify whether the alert belongs to the input and check the input source and its connection. |
| Video freezes or disappears while the RTMP output stays connected | Input loss or a problem upstream of the destination connection. | Inspect input-loss events and the source-side encoder or feed. |
| YouTube reports an ingest error or the encoder cannot start | A stream key, destination, connectivity, or output-profile issue may be involved. | Read the exact Live Control Room message; verify the key, encoder output, CPU load, outbound connectivity, and YouTube profile recommendations. |
| Viewers report interruption but there is no matching MediaLive or YouTube error | The available evidence does not establish an ingest disconnect. | Compare viewer timing with stream-health and output events before changing the channel. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the broader goal is to keep prerecorded video live on a YouTube channel, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service—not a fix or diagnostic tool for a MediaLive delivery path. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
