What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
First find out whether the broadcast itself is disconnecting or viewers are buffering. If OBS shows rising dropped frames, investigate the broadcaster’s connection and stream settings; if the event stays live and OBS is stable, troubleshoot viewer playback instead. The available YouTube and OBS guidance does not identify a general Indian broadband cause, so diagnose the actual connection before blaming an ISP.
Is the broadcast disconnecting, or are viewers buffering?
Ask whether the live event goes offline for everyone or whether only some viewers see a spinner, freeze, or buffering. Those symptoms point to different problems.
- Broadcast-side trouble: OBS’s dropped-frame count rises, YouTube Live Control Room reports a health or ingest problem, or the event goes offline. OBS says dropped frames mean the connection to the remote server is unstable or the configured bitrate cannot be sustained. OBS connection troubleshooting
- Viewer-side trouble: the event remains live and OBS is not accumulating dropped frames, but one or more viewers cannot play smoothly. Test the stream on another device and network before changing the encoder. YouTube playback troubleshooting
For viewer buffering, have an affected viewer try another connection or device and reduce sources of interference near the router. If playback works on another network, that narrows the issue to the original viewing path; it does not establish a broadcaster-side fault.
Check stream health while the interruption happens
Run a controlled test and watch OBS’s dropped-frame count alongside the YouTube Live Control Room health indicator. Note the exact time of every interruption, whether OBS’s count increases, and any YouTube error text. A single speed test taken at another time cannot establish that a long-running upload is stable.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and monitoring stream health during an event. Its Live Control Room errors can identify settings problems such as bitrate, format, audio or video settings, resolution, frame rate, or keyframe frequency. Follow the error shown for your stream rather than changing unrelated settings. YouTube live encoder settings and bitrate guidance · YouTube Live Control Room error messages
Test upload stability on the actual streaming connection
- Run an upload-speed test from the computer that runs OBS, on the same connection used for the broadcast. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate. YouTube encoder guidance
- Repeat the test at the time of day when drops usually occur and record the results. Compare them with OBS and YouTube health during the same period.
- If the computer is on Wi-Fi, temporarily test over Ethernet and compare the stream health. OBS recommends a wired connection because Wi-Fi can be unstable for streaming. A Cat6 cable is one option if you need a cable, but the cited guidance does not require that category specifically. OBS connection troubleshooting
- Pause other heavy uploads during the controlled test. This helps isolate competing traffic; it does not by itself prove the ISP is responsible.
A wired test can help distinguish a Wi-Fi problem from a wider connection problem. It cannot repair an ISP-side route or guarantee that the connection will stay stable all day.

Choose a bitrate and encoder settings that match the connection
Select a codec, resolution, and frame rate first; then choose a bitrate the connection can sustain with headroom. The following are YouTube’s published H.264 figures. The YouTube help page does not show a publication date for this guidance, and these are encoder recommendations—not Indian broadband plan requirements or guarantees of uninterrupted streaming.
| H.264 stream setting | YouTube recommended video bitrate | YouTube minimum video bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | 8 Mbps | 3 Mbps |
| 720p60 | 8 Mbps | 3 Mbps |
| 1080p30 | 14 Mbps | 5 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | 17 Mbps | 6 Mbps |
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists different bitrate ranges for AV1 and H.265, so these H.264 values should not be applied to every codec. OBS suggests 75% of total upload speed as a starting point when troubleshooting bitrate; that is OBS advice, not a YouTube rule, and not a guarantee for a 24/7 stream. OBS connection troubleshooting

- Other flagged settings: check the Live Control Room message for audio/video format, resolution, frame rate, or bitrate errors, and correct the specific item it names.
After a change, test with movement and audio similar to the real music stream, then monitor stream health. A static test may not represent the actual encode workload. YouTube live encoder guidance · YouTube Live Control Room errors
When to contact your ISP
If drops continue over Ethernet, the encoder settings are within YouTube’s guidance, and the bitrate is below the upload capacity you can reliably sustain, collect evidence before escalating. OBS notes that route congestion or ISP-side network changes may be outside the broadcaster’s control. The available guidance does not establish a particular Indian provider, city, plan, or nationwide broadband cause.
