You can upload new videos to a cloud-hosted YouTube stream remotely through a service’s web or mobile app, provided it supports adding files from your device or importing them from cloud storage. The key limitation is timing: a service may let you build or schedule a stream with new videos without letting you change its playlist after it is already live. Check that before relying on a live update.
Choose a service that supports the workflow you need
Before uploading, distinguish a continuous 24/7 stream from a scheduled prerecorded event. A service may offer remote uploads and playlists but not continuous broadcasting, or may allow playlist changes only before airtime.
| Service or route | What the documented workflow supports | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Upload videos, add your YouTube stream key once, and run an always-on stream from the cloud. | StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube. The stated product details do not establish that you can insert a new video into a stream already in progress; check the current controls before depending on a live edit. |
| OneStream Live | Build and schedule a 24/7 YouTube broadcast using videos from a computer or mobile device, OneStream storage, or supported cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox. | Its Help Center says 24/7 streaming requires Enterprise and allows up to 30 days per scheduled broadcast. Its guide does not establish that you can append videos after the broadcast starts. OneStream Live Help Center, last updated September 3, 2026. |
| Restream Upload & Stream | Upload from desktop or mobile, or import from Descript, Google Drive, or Dropbox; schedule prerecorded videos or playlists. | The documented playlist workflow is finite, not a continuous 24/7 stream. Playlist contents can be changed only before the playlist goes live. Restream playlist guide. |
| YouTube Live Streaming API or HLS ingestion | Technical methods for managing broadcasts and delivering a live signal. | The API reference does not describe appending a prerecorded file to an existing 24/7 playlist. HLS ingestion requires an encoder to send media playlists and segments; it is not a remote video-library upload interface. YouTube Live Streaming API and YouTube HLS ingestion guide. |
For a documented remote 24/7 YouTube setup, OneStream is the closest match in the available vendor guidance. For a cloud-run YouTube channel using uploaded videos, StreamNeo is another option: it keeps the stream running without a computer staying on, at one price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, with the first day free. Neither service’s facts here establish live playlist editing after airtime begins, so verify that capability if it is essential.
Upload and schedule a new video remotely
The exact labels vary by service, but the documented OneStream workflow follows these steps. Use the web app or mobile app to add content while setting up the broadcast; do not assume that the same controls will modify a stream already on air.

- Sign in to the service. Open its web or mobile app on the device holding the video, or sign in where your cloud-storage files are available.
- Create a 24/7 stream or playlist. Confirm that the selected plan supports continuous streaming. OneStream’s documented 24/7 option requires Enterprise.
- Add the video. Choose a file from the device, the service’s own storage, or a connected source such as Google Drive or Dropbox when offered. Wait for the upload or import to finish before scheduling.
- Check the order and stream details. Confirm that the new video appears in the intended position, select the correct YouTube channel, and review the broadcast schedule and duration.
- Schedule or start the broadcast. Check the YouTube destination and start time before confirming. OneStream documents a maximum scheduled duration of 30 days for a 24/7 broadcast.
- Verify playback on YouTube. Open the channel’s live stream and confirm that it is live and playing the expected content. If the video is missing, check whether the upload completed and whether the scheduled playlist included it.
Can you add a video from your phone while the stream is live?
Remote access from a phone does not automatically mean a service permits editing an active broadcast. OneStream documents choosing videos in its mobile app during setup, but its cited guide does not say that a new video can be appended to an already-airing stream. Restream is explicit in the other direction: playlist contents can be added, removed, or rearranged only before the playlist goes live; while it airs, its guide says only graphics and chat can be edited.
If you need to add a video after airtime begins, check the provider’s current active-playlist controls or ask its support team before choosing a plan. If live editing is unavailable, prepare a replacement or updated playlist and schedule a new broadcast according to the provider’s workflow; do not assume this will preserve one uninterrupted stream.

What to check before uploading
- Continuity: Confirm that the product provides an actual 24/7 stream rather than a scheduled prerecorded event.
- Live editing: Ask whether videos can be added to an active playlist, not just to one that has yet to start.
- Remote sources: Confirm whether you can upload from the phone or computer you will use, or import from the particular cloud-storage account you rely on.
- Duration and item limits: Check scheduled-stream duration and playlist size. Restream’s playlist guide allows up to 24 hours and 40 video entries; these are vendor-published limits and may change.
- Destination: Verify that the workflow supports the correct YouTube channel. StreamNeo is for YouTube only.
- Plan and price: Check the plan required for continuous streaming and confirm current terms at purchase. OneStream’s documented 24/7 feature requires Enterprise; Restream’s playlist feature is not documented as a continuous stream.
- Rights to the video: Make sure you have the rights and permissions needed to livestream the footage, music, and other material. Uploading a file remotely does not resolve copyright or YouTube policy issues.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The stream runs from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams your uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, without re-encoding or quality tiers; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.

Costs and limits to weigh
Service capabilities and plan structures differ, so compare the workflow rather than treating every prerecorded playlist as a 24/7 stream. StreamNeo’s same product is available for different billing lengths; every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops, and StreamNeo team support. Its listed options are:

- Weekly: $2.99 per week
- Monthly: $9.99 per month
- 6 months: $49.99 for 6 months
- Yearly: $89.99 a year
StreamNeo offers one free day per account with no card. Billing can be for a day, week, month, six months, or year, and can be cancelled any time. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Contact StreamNeo support about five or more slots. For OneStream and Restream, consult their current plan pages before buying: OneStream’s documented 24/7 feature is Enterprise-only, while Restream lists its playlist add-ons as separate offerings whose terms and prices can change.
Troubleshooting remote uploads and playlist changes
- The video is not available in the playlist: Check that the upload or cloud import finished, then refresh the library and add the file again if necessary.
- The new video will not appear in the live stream: The provider may lock playlist contents once airtime begins. Confirm active-edit support; Restream documents pre-live editing only, and OneStream’s cited guide does not establish live editing.
- The broadcast will not schedule for the requested duration: Check the service’s maximum duration and plan. OneStream documents a 30-day maximum per scheduled 24/7 broadcast and requires Enterprise for that feature.
- The service offers a playlist but not continuous output: Confirm that it supports 24/7 streaming specifically. Restream documents playlists up to 24 hours and 40 entries, not a continuous 24/7 playlist.
- The wrong channel is selected: Recheck the connected YouTube account and channel in the broadcast setup before starting or scheduling.
Technical alternatives are not remote playlist editors
YouTube’s Live Streaming API separates the broadcast event (liveBroadcast) from the video signal (liveStream) and provides methods to create, bind, update, and manage those resources. The reference does not document a method for uploading a prerecorded file into an existing 24/7 playlist. HLS ingestion is a developer-oriented alternative: an encoder sends media playlists and segments to YouTube, using muxed audio and video in M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, a closed GOP, and up to 60 fps. Those requirements describe live signal delivery, not a simple phone-based addition to a hosted video library.
