A 24/7 service instead sends a continuing live feed to YouTube; it does not bypass the limit for a single oversized video file.
First, distinguish a video upload from a 24/7 live stream

Uploading one large finished video from India
YouTube’s published general limit is 256 GB or 12 hours, whichever is less. The lower threshold controls: a video must stay under both limits. YouTube’s guidance does not state a separate India-specific upload cap, but that does not guarantee a particular account or internet connection will complete a given upload. Before uploading
- Verify the Google account if the video is longer than 15 minutes. YouTube’s default limit is 15 minutes; verified accounts can upload longer videos within the current maximum. Follow the verification flow linked from YouTube’s upload guidance. YouTube Help
- Check both duration and file size. A video below 256 GB may still be too long if it exceeds 12 hours, and a shorter video may still exceed the file-size cap.
- Allow for transfer time and connection stability. The official guidance cited here does not give an India-specific minimum speed for ordinary uploads. A large upload can take a long time, and interruptions or local connection limits can affect completion.
- If the file is over 256 GB, reduce its size in video-editing software. Compression may help bring it below the file-size cap; it does not raise YouTube’s limit. Review the resulting image and audio quality before uploading.
You may encounter older YouTube videos longer than 12 hours. YouTube notes that upload limits have changed in the past, so those existing videos are not evidence that a new upload can exceed today’s limit. YouTube Help
What changes when the goal is 24/7 playback?
For continuous playback, a service or encoder sends a live feed to YouTube using a server URL and stream key. The source material may be prerecorded and looped, but YouTube receives it as a live stream—not as one ordinary video upload. That distinction means a 24/7 stream is not an exemption that lets a creator upload a single file beyond YouTube’s published size or duration cap.

YouTube identifies Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos in its encoder guidance. That establishes the category and a named option in YouTube’s documentation; it does not establish any particular service’s current price, uninterrupted uptime, or availability for every creator in India. Eligibility and preparation
- The channel needs to be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube Help
- Set up the encoder or service ahead of the intended start time. Use YouTube’s preview to check the feed and monitor stream quality; check the archive afterward if you need to confirm it was recorded correctly. YouTube Help
- Keep the stream key private. It allows a compatible encoder or service to send a feed to the channel, so treat it like a credential and use YouTube’s stream controls if you need to replace it.
- Use content you have the rights to stream. A live format does not itself grant permission to rebroadcast music, footage, or other copyrighted material. YouTube’s copyright and channel policies still apply.
Bandwidth and stream format
For live ingest, calculate against upload bandwidth, not download speed. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom over the total stream bitrate; the available upload bandwidth must be enough to sustain the feed. For RTMP ingest, YouTube’s error guidance identifies H.264 video and AAC audio as the expected formats. If YouTube reports a stream-format error, check the encoder’s output format and the ingest setup. HLS is another documented ingest option for compatible setups, but it requires a compatible encoder and specified playlist and segment settings, and it has higher latency than RTMP. Troubleshooting: what to check first
- YouTube rejects a long upload: verify the account if the video is longer than 15 minutes, then check that it is within both current limits—256 GB and 12 hours. If it exceeds the file-size limit, compress it in editing software. YouTube Help
- A large upload stalls or takes longer than expected: check the connection and allow more transfer time. The cited YouTube guidance does not publish an India-specific speed threshold for ordinary uploads.

- Choose an ordinary upload when viewers should watch a finished documentary on demand and the file fits within YouTube’s current limits.
