First identify what “misses a video” means: an upcoming livestream is missing from Studio, viewers cannot find it, the broadcast never starts, a separately scheduled upload did not publish, or the livestream replay is absent. Each has a different check. For a scheduled livestream, start in YouTube Studio > Content > Live > Upcoming; for a scheduled ordinary video, check its entry under Content and its Visibility settings.
Choose the problem that matches what happened

If the upcoming livestream is missing in Studio
- Open YouTube Studio > Content > Live and select Upcoming. YouTube’s Live tab separates upcoming events from Live Now streams and Live Replay archives.
- Open Live Control Room > Manage and look for the scheduled event there. For an encoder event, the documented creation path is Studio > Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule stream.
- Open the event and verify it is the intended one, with the correct date, time, and timezone. Check that you are looking at the right channel and event rather than an ordinary scheduled upload.
- If you cannot locate it in either place, note exactly what Studio shows and whether the event was saved. YouTube’s general guidance does not identify a single cause for every missing scheduled event, so do not assume it was deleted or that a particular setting is responsible.
If viewers cannot see the scheduled event
Check the event’s visibility before changing its schedule. Public, private, and unlisted settings determine who can find or access the event. Public items can appear on the channel and in search; private items are visible only to the owner and people the owner selects. An unlisted event is not publicly discoverable in the same way as a public one, so test access using its watch-page link.
- For a public event, open the event link while signed out or in a private browser window to test whether the page is accessible.
- For a private event, check that the intended viewers have been granted access.
- For an unlisted event, share the direct event link with the intended audience.
YouTube says a scheduled stream may appear in subscribers’ feeds as upcoming with a Notify me option; that placement is not guaranteed for every viewer. Sharing the event link is a more direct access check.
If the encoder is connected but the broadcast does not start
- In Live Control Room, open the scheduled event and locate the stream URL and stream key for that event.
- In your encoder, confirm it is sending to that URL with the matching key. A key associated with another event may connect the encoder to the wrong broadcast.
- Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview to appear.
- Once the preview is available, select Go Live in Live Control Room. Starting the encoder alone is not the same as launching the broadcast to viewers.
- Check the channel and watch pages, and test access on a mobile device. Monitor audio and video, and verify that any local archive file is growing if you are recording locally.
If the preview or event access still fails, record the exact Studio status and encoder error message. YouTube’s general setup help does not establish one cause or universal fix for every encoder failure; the specific status is needed to narrow it down.

If a scheduled ordinary video did not publish
A scheduled upload is not managed like a livestream. Find the video under YouTube Studio > Content, open its Visibility settings, and review the scheduled publication time. Scheduled videos are private until the specified time to go public.
YouTube documents a specific exception: if the account has a Community Guidelines strike, a scheduled video will not publish during the penalty period and remains private. It must be rescheduled after the freeze period. This documented restriction concerns scheduled video publishing; it does not establish the cause of a livestream that is missing or hidden.

The date on a video’s watch page can also differ from the date shown in Studio. YouTube bases the watch-page date on Pacific Standard Time, so an upload or scheduled time in a timezone ahead of PST can show a different calendar date. That date difference alone does not prove the video failed to publish.
If the livestream replay is missing
- Go to YouTube Studio > Content > Live > Live Replay.
- Open the archive, if listed, and check its visibility. The archive’s visibility can be changed from the Content area.
- Consider the stream’s duration. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.
- For future broadcasts, keep a local recording as a backup. YouTube recommends a local archive, and a stream shorter than 12 hours is not a guarantee that its replay will appear immediately.
Check livestream eligibility if you cannot go live
YouTube Help’s live-streaming tips, accessed October 3, 2026, say a creator needs a verified channel and no livestream restrictions in the past 90 days to livestream. If Studio indicates that the channel cannot stream, check the channel’s verification and the exact restriction or status shown in Studio rather than treating it as a scheduling error.
