Super Chat supports an eligible creator; a YouTube Giving Live Chat Donation supports the nonprofit named in a fundraiser. Super Chat pays to highlight a message in live chat, while a YouTube Giving contribution is a charitable donation. They are separate features, and YouTube turns off Super Chat and Super Stickers on streams with YouTube Giving fundraisers.
Who gets the money?
A Super Chat is fan funding for an eligible creator, tied to a highlighted live-chat message. A YouTube Giving Live Chat Donation goes to the nonprofit named by the fundraiser. Viewers may casually call a Super Chat a donation because they are supporting a creator, but YouTube distinguishes it from charitable giving: “You should be aware that Super Chat and Super Stickers aren’t crowdfunding or donation tools.” YouTube Help: Super Chat and Super Stickers policies.
How the two features work
Super Chat
During an eligible live stream or Premiere, a viewer pays to make a chat message stand out; it may be pinned. Super Stickers are a related paid feature that lets viewers send an image in chat. Both are fan-funding features under YouTube’s Commerce Product Module. YouTube Help.
YouTube Giving Live Chat Donations
An eligible creator can attach a YouTube Giving fundraiser to a live stream. With live chat enabled, viewers can use the Donate control in chat and choose an amount. They can choose whether their username is displayed publicly; otherwise the donation is presented anonymously. Google says it partners with Network for Good to collect and distribute donations at Google’s request. YouTube Help: YouTube Giving.

How YouTube describes the money

These percentages have different recipients and calculation bases, so they are not a like-for-like comparison of platform fees.
Can both appear on the same stream?
No. YouTube turns off Super Chat and Super Stickers on streams with a YouTube Giving fundraiser, to avoid confusion. Super Chat and Super Stickers also require live chat or comments to be enabled. YouTube Help.

Eligibility and availability
Super Chat
YouTube’s listed minimum requirements for fan-funding features include membership in the YouTube Partner Program, being at least 18, living in a region where the feature is available and accepting applicable terms. Super Chat is unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private or made-for-kids videos, and on videos with YouTube Giving fundraisers. Live chat or comments must not be turned off. YouTube Giving
YouTube’s Giving FAQ lists fundraiser setup requirements including an eligible location, at least 10,000 subscribers, YouTube Partner Program membership and a channel not designated as made for kids. What if the creator links to another donation service?
An external donation link is not the same as YouTube Giving. The provider’s fees, recipient handling, tax treatment and refund rules depend on that service and the creator’s setup; YouTube Giving’s published terms should not be applied to an outside link.
