For a continuous property tour streamed at 1080p30 with H.264, start at 14 Mbps video bitrate. YouTube lists 14 Mbps as its recommended live-ingestion bitrate for that combination; its listed minimum is 5 Mbps, which is a floor rather than the quality target. Plan for about 17.5 Mbps of available upload capacity for the stream alone to leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. If you stream at 1080p60 H.264, use YouTube’s 17 Mbps recommendation instead.
Recommended bitrate by resolution, frame rate and codec
These are YouTube’s published live encoder ingestion settings, not its separate recommendations for uploaded video files. Match the row to the codec your encoder actually sends. Values are video bitrate in Mbps.
| Incoming resolution / frame rate | AV1 or H.265 minimum | AV1 or H.265 recommended | H.264 minimum | H.264 recommended |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | 4 | 10 | 5 | 14 |
| 1080p60 | 4 | 12 | 6 | 17 |
| 720p30 | 2 | 6 | 3 | 8 |
| 720p60 | 2 | 6 | 3 | 8 |
| 1440p30 | 5 | 15 | 7 | 21 |
| 1440p60 | 6 | 24 | 8 | 34 |
| 2160p30 (4K) | 8 | 30 | 11 | 42 |
| 2160p60 (4K) | 10 | 35 | 14 | 50 |
A property tour often moves more slowly than sports or gaming, so 1080p30 can be a sensible starting point when it matches the camera and the level of detail you want. That is a practical choice, not a property-tour setting prescribed by YouTube. If the camera moves quickly and smoother motion matters, consider 60 fps and use the matching row. If your connection cannot sustain the recommended bitrate reliably, lower resolution or frame rate rather than forcing an unstable stream.
Allow enough upload capacity for a continuous broadcast
YouTube advises that total outgoing stream bitrate fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% room. It also notes that shared networks can limit an individual connection and that a connectivity disruption can break a stream. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Measure sustained upload capacity at the location and on the connection the encoder will use. A download-speed result does not answer this question.
- For a 14 Mbps stream, 14 × 1.25 gives about 17.5 Mbps available upload capacity as a planning target for that stream alone. This is arithmetic based on YouTube’s 20% headroom guidance, not a separate YouTube-published threshold.
- If another stream or upload-heavy activity shares the connection, add its bitrate or expected traffic before allowing headroom. YouTube says to consider “primary + backup + 20%” where applicable.
- Avoid saturating shared Wi-Fi or the connection with other upload-heavy traffic during the tour. A wired connection may help where the equipment supports it, but a cable does not guarantee an uninterrupted stream.
- One speed test cannot guarantee a connection will remain stable throughout a long broadcast. Test at the intended bitrate under realistic network load.
Set the encoder to match YouTube’s live guidance
YouTube’s published live guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1; frame rates up to 60 fps; constant bitrate (CBR); and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. It recommends RTMPS. The exact control names and location vary by encoder, so set the equivalent options in your chosen software or hardware.
- Video bitrate: use the recommended value for the incoming resolution, frame rate and codec in the table, provided your upload connection can sustain it.
- Rate control: choose CBR rather than allowing the bitrate to vary.
- Keyframes: set an interval of two seconds; do not exceed four seconds.
- Protocol: use RTMPS when available.
- Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3 for stereo and recommends 128 kbps audio bitrate. Keep audio enabled while testing; a host’s room descriptions are part of the tour.
YouTube automatically detects encoder settings in Live Control Room and transcodes the incoming stream into multiple output formats for viewers. The bitrate you configure is therefore the incoming encoder bitrate, not a promise that every viewer receives video at that same bitrate. YouTube’s live stream settings guidance advises selecting the highest supported resolution and bitrate that can be streamed reliably; reliability sets the practical limit.

Test the tour before the scheduled stream
YouTube Help advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.” Apply that to the actual tour: include representative camera movement, host audio and network conditions, then check stream health and messages while testing and during the broadcast.
- Configure the encoder for the intended resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate.
- Run a test using the same connection and, as far as practical, the same camera movement and speaking audio planned for the property tour.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health and any encoder messages. If the stream is unstable, reduce resolution, frame rate or bitrate and test again.
- During the continuous broadcast, keep monitoring stream health and connection conditions rather than assuming a successful preflight guarantees a long, uninterrupted run.
Keep a pre-recorded property tour running from the cloud
If the tour is a completed video that you want to play continuously on YouTube, rather than a live camera tour, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos or a playlist from the cloud. Upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a live camera feed. The tour streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot rather than quality tiers. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
