In OBS, add an Image Source to a scene, choose your still image, and fit it to the canvas. Connect OBS to YouTube with the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, then check the Live Control Room preview before starting the broadcast. This sends a still visual through a live encoder; it does not remove the need for a working computer, power, and internet connection.
Before you start
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Install OBS and have the image file ready. Use an image that remains legible at your intended stream resolution; check its crop and placement in the preview.
- Plan the audio separately if the meditation stream includes music, narration, or ambient sound. Confirm you have the necessary rights to use it.
- Use a stable internet connection and power source. A still scene reduces visual complexity, but the encoder still has to send a live video stream continuously.
Set up a static-image stream in OBS
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, use the Scenes dock to add a scene if needed, then select it.
- Add the image. In the Sources dock, select the plus button and choose Image (an Image Source). Name it, choose the image file, and confirm. OBS says an Image Source can add an image or slideshow to a scene; see its Sources Guide.
- Fit and position it. Select the image in the preview and resize or position it so it fills the canvas as intended. Check that important details are not cropped. If the image does not fill the canvas, adjust its size or use a source transform that fits your composition.
- Configure any audio. Add and test the audio source you intend to use, if any. Watch OBS’s audio meters and listen to the preview to catch silence, clipping, or an unintended source. OBS documents media playback sources separately in its Media Sources guide.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. YouTube describes the key as the information an encoder uses to send its feed. Keep it private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Set encoder output. YouTube recommends RTMPS, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval in its listed encoder settings. H.264 is a broadly supported codec option. Choose a bitrate within YouTube’s published range for your resolution, frame rate, and codec, and make sure your upload connection can sustain it. Check the current YouTube encoder settings and bitrate recommendations rather than assuming one bitrate suits every stream.
- Preview and test. Start streaming from OBS and wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room. Confirm the image framing and audio, then check stream health before making the broadcast public. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the stream.
Keep the stream running and plan for interruptions
A 24/7 broadcast depends on every part of the chain: OBS, the computer, power, the network connection, and YouTube’s receipt of the feed. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health; its guidance does not promise uninterrupted uptime for this setup. Decide how you will notice a failure and who can restart the encoder if you are away. You can test your recovery plan before relying on it; YouTube describes stopping the primary encoder or unplugging Ethernet as ways to test failover.
A still image does not guarantee that YouTube will archive a long broadcast. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its encoder guidance does not promise that a stream longer than 12 hours will be archived in full. If the replay matters, check YouTube’s current encoder and stream guidance and plan to preserve a local recording or divide the broadcast into shorter sessions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a home computer and internet connection to carry the broadcast continuously, StreamNeo runs uploaded video as a 24/7 YouTube stream from the cloud. Its workflow is to upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. For a meditation stream built around one still image, prepare that visual as a video file before uploading; StreamNeo’s stated workflow is for uploaded videos.

Troubleshooting
- The channel cannot go live: Check that it is verified and has not had a live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days.
- The image is missing or framed incorrectly: Confirm the Image Source points to the correct file, is visible in the Sources dock, and is positioned and sized correctly on the canvas.
- YouTube does not receive the feed: Check that OBS has the correct stream URL and key, and that the key has not been changed. Keep the key private.
- The preview or stream health shows a problem: Check the connection and encoder settings, including CBR, the two-second keyframe interval, and a bitrate supported by your upload connection. Compare settings with YouTube’s current recommendations.
- The broadcast stops while unattended: Check power, computer sleep settings, internet availability, and OBS. You need a monitoring and restart plan; the still image does not prevent these failures.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: Do not rely on automatic archiving for a stream longer than 12 hours. Use shorter sessions or preserve a local recording if a replay is important.
