To run prerecorded yoga classes continuously on YouTube, create a YouTube Live broadcast and send it from an encoder that loops your prepared videos. YouTube does not provide a setting that turns regular uploads into a continuous livestream playlist. You can use free software such as OBS, or have a cloud service handle playback and streaming. Before you start, confirm your channel is eligible and that you have the rights to every video and audio track.
What you need before setting up a 24/7 stream
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and meets YouTube’s minimum age requirement of 16. Check current access in YouTube Studio before preparing the broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance describes eligibility.
- Yoga class recordings and audio that you own or are licensed to use in a livestream. Keep permission and license records; a license may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID.
- An encoder or streaming service to play the prepared media and send it to YouTube Live. OBS is a free, open-source software option; dedicated encoding hardware is not required. See the OBS Help Portal.
- A plan for monitoring interruptions and for providing class replays separately if viewers need them.
How to stream prerecorded yoga classes with OBS
- Verify live access. Open YouTube Studio and confirm that live streaming is available for your channel. YouTube’s eligibility requirements can change, so check the current account status rather than assuming a channel is ready.
- Prepare the playlist. Arrange the class videos in the order you want them to play. Use original recordings and audio, or confirm that each license expressly allows livestream distribution in the territories where you plan to stream. Ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel in Content ID when applicable.
- Create a broadcast in YouTube Studio. Open the live control room, create or schedule a live stream, and set its title, description, visibility, and thumbnail. Select the encoder workflow and copy the stream key supplied by YouTube Studio.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect using the stream key or account connection available in your setup. Treat the key like a password: do not share it or show it on screen. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio.
- Add and arrange the media. Add the prepared class videos as media sources in OBS and configure playback to advance through the playlist and loop back to the beginning. Check the OBS help documentation for the controls in your installed version. Test the complete transition between at least two classes and from the playlist’s end back to its start.
- Start the encoder and verify the broadcast. Start streaming in OBS, then check the YouTube live control room for the incoming signal and use its preview to confirm video and audio. Start or confirm the broadcast in YouTube Studio as prompted. Keep the encoder and the computer connected, and monitor the feed for playback or connection failures.
- Test recovery before relying on it. Simulate a planned restart or brief connection loss while the stream is private or unlisted, where appropriate. Confirm how your encoder and YouTube broadcast behave, and document the steps needed to reconnect. The official guidance does not promise uninterrupted looping or automatic recovery from every failure.
How to keep the stream running reliably
Understand what the local setup depends on
With OBS on a computer, playback and the outgoing connection depend on that computer, its power, OBS, and a working internet connection. A reboot, software crash, power cut, or network interruption can stop the feed. Check the stream periodically and have a restart plan; do not treat a successful test as a guarantee of continuous operation.
Separate the livestream from class replays
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its guidance states, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” For reliable individual class replays, record the classes locally and upload or publish them separately. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
Copyright and monetization considerations
Use material cleared for livestreaming
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including another live broadcast. If it identifies a match, it may show a placeholder and warn you to stop using the material; an unresolved match can lead to interruption or termination. Licensed material may still trigger a match unless the rights holder has allowlisted your channel. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to hold the rights needed to use the content on Google services, including music rights. A “royalty-free” label is not, on its own, proof that a track is cleared for your particular livestream. Check that the license covers livestream use and the relevant territories, and resolve Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
Do not assume a loop will qualify for monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. The platform expects monetized content to be original and authentic; highly repetitive or mass-produced programming may be ineligible. Reused-content review is separate from copyright enforcement and can apply even when you have permission to use material. Create classes that offer original instruction or other meaningful viewer value, and do not assume a 24/7 format will qualify for the YouTube Partner Program. Check YouTube’s channel monetization policies, including its July 15, 2025 clarification and renaming of its policy on inauthentic content.

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Check that the stream key in OBS matches the current key in YouTube Studio, that OBS is connected to the internet, and that streaming has started in the encoder. Replace a key that was exposed rather than continuing to use it.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright match: Stop the matched material. Verify the license covers livestream use and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting before using it again.
- The playlist stops or fails to return to its first class: Test each media source and the end-to-start loop in OBS. Recheck the playlist order and playback settings, then run a longer test before making the stream public.
- The stream has no sound or drops audio between classes: Check the audio source and levels in OBS, then listen to class transitions in the YouTube preview. Test the full playback path rather than relying only on OBS’s meters.
- A long broadcast has no replay: Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured in YouTube’s archive. Publish separately recorded classes if viewers need individual replays.
- The channel is not eligible to go live: Check verification, account restrictions, and YouTube Studio’s current access status before troubleshooting the encoder.
