To run Malayalam music on YouTube around the clock, first clear the rights to every recording, then prepare a verified channel, create a Live Control Room broadcast, and send it a continuous feed from an encoder or cloud service. Test the stream before launch and plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive warning. Permission to play music and eligibility to monetize a channel are separate questions.
1. Clear the rights to every song and recording
Do not build the playlist until you know you have permission to broadcast each track on YouTube Live. Use recordings you own, music commissioned with written permissions, or a catalog whose license explicitly covers YouTube livestreaming. For Malayalam film or label music, the relevant rights may include both the composition and the sound recording; identify the rights holders and confirm the scope of permission for each.
Check that your permissions cover your intended territories, duration, and monetization plans. Ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted in Content ID. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, and persistent matches can interrupt or terminate a stream. A license alone may not prevent interruption if the owner has not allowlisted your channel. A credit in the description, a purchased consumer copy, a music-streaming subscription, or the absence of an immediate claim does not establish livestream permission. - Keep written permissions and the relevant license terms together with your playlist records.
- Confirm what to do if a track is claimed or the rights holder changes its Content ID settings.
- Do not assume one label or catalog license covers all Malayalam recordings or every territory.
2. Prepare your YouTube channel
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned start. YouTube’s current guidance says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

3. Choose how to keep the stream running
YouTube supports software encoders, dedicated hardware encoders, and cloud services. These are alternative production routes; you do not need to combine a computer and specialist hardware.

Compare options by playlist scheduling, recovery after an interruption, monitoring, stream-quality controls, local recording, and upfront or recurring cost. YouTube’s encoder list establishes that these routes exist, but does not provide a like-for-like price or reliability comparison. No hosting method grants music rights.

4. Create the live broadcast in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Stream.
- Create or schedule the stream. Add a clear title and description, an appropriate thumbnail, and a visual treatment that accurately represents the music. Scheduling ahead can give viewers a stable watch URL and let them set a reminder.
- In Live Control Room, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into your encoder or service. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start the encoder or cloud playback. Wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room, check the stream health messages, and then click Go Live when ready.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers connecting an encoder to a live stream. A successful preview confirms that a feed is reaching YouTube; it does not confirm music rights clearance.
5. Set stream quality and test it before launch
Use YouTube’s encoder recommendations for the resolution you choose and the upload connection you actually have. For RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR) encoding, and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. See its live encoder settings guidance.

- Run an upload-speed test and choose a video bitrate your connection can sustain continuously; do not select a bitrate based only on a brief peak result.
- Test with representative audio and motion, not just a still image or silence. YouTube recommends an unlisted test stream before a public launch.
- Listen for clipping, dropouts, abrupt level changes, and silence between tracks. Aim for consistent, comfortable loudness across the queue.
- If graphics show song or artist names, make sure they match the actual playback order. Use a visual scene that is distinct but does not distract from the music.
- Monitor Live Control Room’s stream health and messages during the test and after launch. A home connection that works briefly is not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 service.

6. Decide whether you need a replay archive
YouTube can automatically archive streams that run for less than 12 hours. It warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a dependable replay matters, keep a local recording backup and consider ending and restarting the public stream before the 12-hour mark, with a planned handoff. 7. Treat copyright permission and monetization as separate decisions
A license answers whether you may use the material; it does not guarantee that your channel qualifies for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policy expects original and authentic content, flags mass-produced or repetitive material, and gives collections of songs from different artists as an example of content that may not monetize even when permission has been obtained. Reused-content review is separate from copyright permission. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
If you own the catalog, create original performances or arrangements, or add meaningful original presentation, describe your contribution accurately and keep records that support it. YouTube makes the eligibility decision under its policies; neither a music license nor a 24/7 schedule promises ad revenue.

8. Troubleshoot common problems
