First check whether the live video has stalled or whether playback continues but the next playlist item never starts. Those are different problems, and the right fix depends on the device and whether the issue follows you to another connection or device.
Identify what is not advancing
While the problem is happening, note what you see and where you are watching: the YouTube app, a computer browser, a TV app, or an embedded player on a website.
- The current video is buffering or frozen: troubleshoot playback, the app or browser, the device, and the connection.
- The current video plays, but the next playlist item does not load: focus on whether the failure affects one playlist, other playlists, or only one device.
- The live broadcast itself has ended: the playlist may not be the cause; check whether the channel is still broadcasting.
YouTube’s general playback guidance covers buffering, loading, and device troubleshooting, but does not give a universal fix for every playlist-transition failure. YouTube Help’s troubleshooting guide also notes that live programming can be delayed by network congestion or other factors, even when a viewer has a good connection. Its discussion of broadcast delay concerns Primetime Channels on TV, so it should not be treated as a general playlist setting.
Work through the basic checks
1. Test another video, device, and connection
Try another video or playlist, then play the same content on another supported device. If possible, switch to a different internet connection and retry. If the problem disappears on another device or connection, that narrows the affected path; it does not, by itself, establish the exact cause.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. If you are watching on a computer
- Close and reopen the browser.
- Close extra tabs, then retry playback.
- Update the browser and restart the computer.
- If playback is buffering or loading, try a different internet connection.
3. If you are watching on a phone or tablet
If the symptom is buffering or loading, clear the YouTube app cache from the device’s app settings, then reopen YouTube and test again. The exact menu names vary by device and operating-system version.
4. If you are watching on a TV
- If the player offers a quality setting, try a different quality.
- Quit and reopen the YouTube app, then sign out and back in if needed.
- Restart the TV or streaming device and check for system software updates.
- Compare playback by playing from another device and casting, or by connecting a laptop to the TV with HDMI. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed playlist fix.
These are troubleshooting steps in YouTube Help’s playback guidance. If content works through one route but not another, focus on the app or device path that fails rather than assuming a particular root cause.

If the problem is an embedded player
For a website embed built with YouTube’s IFrame Player API, inspect the playlist configuration separately from troubleshooting the regular YouTube app or watch page. The API’s playlist parameter takes an array of YouTube video IDs. The documentation also says that calling nextVideo() while the final item is playing ends playback unless the playlist is set to play continuously. The autoplay parameter controls whether playback starts automatically when the player loads; it does not, on its own, explain a transition failure.
See the YouTube IFrame Player API reference and YouTube embedded-player parameters. These details apply to developers configuring an embed, not to diagnosing a fault in YouTube’s consumer app or site.

If it still fails
After reproducing the issue, send feedback from the YouTube app’s Help and feedback menu. Include the device and app or browser, whether the current video stalls or only the next item fails, whether other videos advance, and whether you reproduced the issue on another connection or device. That information helps describe the failure without guessing at its cause.
