Use a cloud playout service to keep prerecorded videos streaming to YouTube: upload your video or playlist, connect the service to your channel, and start the stream. The service handles playback and delivery in its cloud, so your PC can be off. Your broadcast still depends on both the cloud provider and YouTube, so test it and monitor its status rather than assuming it will never stop.
What you need before starting
- An eligible YouTube channel. YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time encoder streaming can take up to 24 hours to activate. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Video you have the right to stream. Use original material or material you are authorized to use, including its audio and visuals.
- A cloud service that supports continuous YouTube playback. Check its stream limits, resolution, storage, playlists, recovery behavior and billing before committing.
How to set up a 24/7 stream without your PC
- Prepare your YouTube channel. Verify it and check for restrictions in YouTube Studio. If you have never streamed using an encoder, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Choose cloud playout. Upload a video or create a playlist in a service that explicitly supports continuous YouTube output. The cloud service, rather than your PC, plays and sends the prerecorded content.
- Connect the correct channel. Depending on the service, you may authorize your YouTube channel or enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Treat the stream key as a password: do not share it or publish it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the service.
- Set quality the service and source can sustain. YouTube’s current recommended H.264 bitrate is 6 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 12 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. Recommendations vary by codec, resolution and frame rate; follow YouTube’s encoder settings guidance and the cloud service’s supported settings. Use RTMPS for encrypted contribution if the service supports it.
- Test, then start or schedule playback. Confirm that YouTube receives the feed, that the picture and sound are correct, and that stream health is acceptable before relying on it. Monitor the channel and provider for stream-status or recovery notices.
Cloud services and other ways to keep a stream running
For prerecorded videos, cloud playout is the straightforward option: it removes your personal computer from the always-on path. It does not remove dependence on the service or YouTube. Compare current plan limits and pricing directly, since these can change.

- OneStream Live: Its help documentation says 24/7 output is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, and can be scheduled for up to 30 days per run. That maximum is stated in an article last updated September 3, 2026; check the current documentation for changes.
- Self-managed VPS or cloud VM: A virtual server can run encoder software, but you must configure and administer it and pay for continuous compute and network use. No India-specific price or provider recommendation is established here, so compare costs and technical requirements before treating it as cheaper or simpler than managed playout.

Plan archives and monetization separately
A 24/7 broadcast is not automatically a dependable archive or a shortcut to monetization. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that is an archive threshold, not a maximum live duration. For longer streams, plan separately for saving and publishing a VOD rather than assuming YouTube will retain the whole broadcast. YouTube also says public watch hours from livestreams that are unlisted, deleted or not converted to VOD do not count as qualified public watch hours. Monetization eligibility is separate from whether a stream stays online. YouTube’s channel monetization policies require original, authentic content and warn against mass-produced, repetitive or minimally changed reused content—even where the creator has permission. A channel repeatedly looping nearly identical material should not assume it will pass review. Make sure the work offers meaningful originality and that you have appropriate rights to both audio and visuals. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Troubleshooting common problems
- YouTube will not let you start streaming: Confirm channel verification and check for live-stream restrictions in the prior 90 days. If this is the first encoder stream, activation may take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube receives no signal: Check that you connected the intended channel and that the stream key or channel authorization is current. If you replaced the key, update it in the cloud service.
- The feed is unstable or unhealthy: Check the provider’s stream status and compare the selected quality with the provider’s supported settings and YouTube’s encoder recommendations. Test again before depending on the stream.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: Check for a YouTube or provider notice, then confirm whether the service supports automatic recovery and whether the stream needs to be restarted. Recovery behavior varies by service; do not assume every provider handles drops the same way.
- You cannot find a complete archive: Check the stream duration and YouTube’s archive rules. For a run of 12 hours or longer, arrange a separate recording or VOD workflow.
- Watch hours are not being counted: Check whether the stream was public and whether it was deleted or converted to VOD, then review YouTube’s qualified public watch-hour rules. A 24/7 schedule alone does not establish eligibility.
