Yes—one computer can run two simultaneous YouTube live broadcasts, but the setup depends on whether both broadcasts carry the same feed. If they show the same or related incoming content, YouTube can bind one stream to multiple broadcasts. If they show different content, use a separate stream and encoder output for each. In either case, test both streams together: there is no universal PC specification that guarantees two continuous broadcasts will work.
Choose the right setup for the two broadcasts
YouTube uses “stream” for the incoming audio/video feed and “broadcast” for the individual live event or video viewers watch. Each broadcast binds to one stream, while a stream can be bound to multiple broadcasts. YouTube’s API guide describes a 24/7 feed and a separate interview broadcast sharing one incoming stream; the interview can end while the continuous feed carries on. Google’s YouTube Live Streaming API guide explains the distinction.

In the API guide’s example of the same content going to two separate videos, one live stream is bound to multiple broadcasts. Do not assume that one stream key can carry two different shows: separate content requires distinct stream resources and outputs.
Prepare both YouTube broadcasts and stream resources
- Decide whether the feeds are identical, related, or independent. For the same incoming feed, use the shared-stream arrangement if it matches your workflow. For two different feeds, plan separate stream resources and encoder outputs.
- Create the two live broadcasts in YouTube Studio. Set each event’s title, visibility, and schedule as needed. In each broadcast’s stream settings, select the intended stream resource; for independent content, make sure each broadcast uses its own stream.
- Copy the stream key or keys into the matching encoder output. Treat stream keys like passwords: do not publish them or include them in screenshots. If a key is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Check the broadcast-to-stream bindings before going live. Confirm that each broadcast is connected to the intended incoming feed and that a change to one broadcast will not disrupt the other.
YouTube’s API guide documents stream and broadcast bindings, but the exact YouTube Studio labels can change. If you configure broadcasts through software or the API rather than Studio, follow the current interface or API instructions for the chosen workflow.

Set conservative encoder output settings
YouTube Help’s encoder guidance accessed October 3, 2026, lists RTMP or RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video, frame rates up to 60 fps, CBR video bitrate, and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends RTMPS for secure ingestion, a two-second keyframe interval, and says not to exceed four seconds. These are ingestion recommendations, not guarantees of viewer quality or uninterrupted operation. Consult YouTube’s current live encoder settings when configuring a specific resolution, codec, and frame rate.

These are YouTube’s recommendations as listed on the page accessed October 3, 2026; the table varies by codec and frame rate. Check the current guidance for your exact output rather than treating these examples as universal targets. YouTube transcodes live streams for viewers; OBS likewise notes that YouTube transcodes incoming streams, including the source feed. That does not remove the need to deliver a stable encoder feed to YouTube.

Calculate the upload capacity for both outputs
Add the video bitrates of the outgoing feeds, then allow extra capacity for audio and network overhead. For example, two independent 1080p60 H.264 outputs at YouTube’s listed 17 Mbps recommendation would total 34 Mbps of video bitrate, before audio and overhead. This is arithmetic for planning, not a YouTube guarantee or a sufficient-speed promise.
- Use YouTube’s upload-speed test recommendation and choose output quality that your connection can sustain.
- Test the connection while both outputs are active; an idle speed test does not show whether the encoder can upload both feeds steadily.
- If the available upload capacity is tight, lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate for one or both feeds, then test again.
- A wired Ethernet connection to the router may be a practical way to reduce local wireless variability, but YouTube’s guidance does not make Ethernet a requirement.
Run a realistic two-stream test before relying on 24/7 operation
- Use representative content. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real stream. A static image or silent test may not expose the same issues as the intended programming.
- Start both outputs together. Let them run long enough to observe sustained encoding and upload behavior, not just a brief successful connection.
- Check stream health and messages in YouTube Studio. Resolve warnings before treating the setup as ready. YouTube’s LiveStreams API can report configuration or health problems including low bitrate, long keyframe intervals, missing audio or video, and starved video ingestion. - Verify both watch pages. Confirm that each broadcast has the intended picture and sound and that the separate events behave as expected when one is ended or changed.
Plan for failures in an unattended setup
A 24/7 target also depends on the computer, source playback, power, and internet connection staying available. A successful test does not establish that a system will recover automatically after every failure. The cited YouTube setup and health guidance does not specify a minimum PC configuration or a complete automated recovery plan.

- Test what happens after an encoder restart, a brief network outage, and a source-playback interruption.
- Decide who will monitor stream health and how they will be alerted if an output stops or becomes unhealthy.
- Consider whether power backup is appropriate for your site, but size and test it for your equipment and runtime needs; the cited YouTube guidance does not mandate a particular UPS.
- Do not choose a CPU, GPU, or RAM specification from a generic rule of thumb. Test your actual encoder, scenes, outputs, and content together.
Troubleshoot common two-stream problems
