There is no evidence-based universal “best VPS” for a 24/7 YouTube stream. The right server depends on whether you are looping pre-encoded video or producing a stream with OBS, browser overlays, or other live inputs. Size for that workload, verify the server can sustain your chosen YouTube ingest bitrate, and test the full setup before relying on it. If your goal is simply to loop uploaded videos, a managed cloud service may avoid VPS maintenance altogether.
Choose for the stream you will actually run
A VPS that can replay a pre-encoded file may not be adequate for rendering OBS scenes. Browser sources, high frame rates, several simultaneous channels, and live camera or other inputs can raise the processing load. Start by writing down the resolution, frame rate, number of channels, and whether the server only sends prepared media or also renders a production.
Pre-encoded video loop
For media already encoded before it reaches the server, the workload can be relatively light. Space-Node, a hosting vendor, proposes 2 vCPU and 2–4 GB RAM as a starting point for a static FFmpeg loop. That is a vendor baseline, not a performance guarantee; measure CPU, memory, and stream stability with your own files and settings. Space-Node’s workload guide was published July 5, 2026.
OBS scenes and browser overlays
Rendering scenes takes more resources than relaying prepared video. Space-Node suggests 4 vCPU and 8 GB RAM for OBS scenes at 720p, and 6 vCPU and 12 GB RAM for OBS at 1080p with browser sources. Treat these as starting points from the vendor, not minimums or guarantees. For OBS at 60 fps, multiple channels, or complex scenes, test the exact setup and check whether the VPS offers suitable CPU or GPU resources.

Check outbound capacity against YouTube’s encoder settings
Your VPS must sustain the stream’s outbound bitrate to YouTube’s ingest, with operational headroom. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends 14 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p/30 fps and 10 Mbps for AV1 or H.265 at the same resolution and frame rate. YouTube does not state a publication year for the bitrate table, so check its live encoder settings and bitrate guidance for current recommendations.
Those figures are encoder recommendations, not proof that a VPS plan can deliver that throughput continuously. Do not assume that a provider’s advertised port speed is sustained or guaranteed. Check the plan’s actual bandwidth and transfer terms, and test the route to YouTube ingest under the intended load.

- Use YouTube’s recommended RTMPS connection where supported.
- Set a constant bitrate (CBR).
- Set keyframes every two seconds; do not let the interval exceed four seconds.
- Test representative audio and motion, then monitor YouTube’s stream-health messages.
YouTube automatically transcodes a live stream into formats for different devices and network conditions. Choose an output quality your server and connection can sustain rather than treating the encoder bitrate as a promise of viewer playback quality.
Compare VPS plans without guessing at a winner
Available evidence does not establish comparable current VPS prices, regions, transfer allowances, or independent performance across providers. That is not enough to rank VPS companies as a universal best. Compare the terms that affect your own workload, and confirm them with the host before paying.

| What to compare | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Processing resources | vCPU and memory for your encoder, scenes, frame rate, and number of channels; whether an appropriate GPU is available if your workload needs one. |
| Network capacity | Sustained outbound throughput, transfer limits or charges, and the route to YouTube ingest—not just a headline port speed. |
| Storage | Enough disk space for the media you plan to keep on the server and any staging files. |
| Location | Available server regions and whether the route to YouTube ingest performs reliably in your test. |
| Operations | Monitoring, process or service recovery, support, and the maintenance required to keep your encoder running. |
| Total cost | The recurring VPS charge plus any relevant transfer, storage, backup, or software costs. Current comparable provider terms are not established here, so verify them directly. |
Set up and test the VPS before depending on it
- Enable YouTube live streaming. Confirm that live streaming is enabled for the channel before scheduling a continuous broadcast.
- Prepare rights-cleared media. Use video and audio you have permission to stream. A continuous broadcast does not remove copyright obligations, and a right to upload a file should not be assumed to include a right to rebroadcast it.
- Choose a workload and encode accordingly. For a static loop, pre-encode media where practical to reduce work on the VPS. For OBS, test the actual scenes, browser sources, resolution, and frame rate you intend to use.
- Configure the encoder. Use RTMPS where supported, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). Choose a bitrate appropriate to the resolution and codec, then leave headroom in the server’s outbound capacity.
- Protect the stream key. Use the channel’s stream key for ingest and keep it private. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube’s live control room before resuming.
- Run a representative test. Check video, audio, motion, and stream health while the server is under the intended workload. Space-Node recommends a one-hour test; that duration is the vendor’s advice, not a YouTube requirement. YouTube likewise advises testing before going live.
- Arrange recovery and monitoring. Configure the encoder or service to restart if its process stops, and monitor both the VPS process and YouTube stream health. A running process alone does not prove YouTube is receiving a healthy stream.
When a managed cloud loop may fit better
If the channel mainly needs uploaded videos played continuously, a managed service may remove server administration. The following descriptions and prices come from each vendor’s own product material, not independent uptime testing. Prices were listed when accessed October 3, 2026, and can change.
| Option | What the vendor describes | Listed price and trade-off |
|---|---|---|
