Yes. You can send a repeating prerecorded video to YouTube as a livestream using a software or hardware encoder, or a service that provides a continuous feed. But YouTube’s viewer-facing Loop control only repeats playback on the watch page; it does not turn an ordinary uploaded video into a livestream.
How to livestream a video on repeat
YouTube’s encoder workflow sends a live feed to your channel. YouTube explains that “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” Start or schedule a livestream in YouTube Live Control Room, then connect an encoder to send the repeating video source. YouTube supports both software and hardware encoder options; dedicated hardware is not required for every setup.
- Check live-stream eligibility and rights. Make sure your channel can livestream and that you have the necessary rights to rebroadcast the video, music, and any other material it contains. YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and live-stream restrictions apply.
- Create or open the livestream. In YouTube Live Control Room, set up the broadcast and obtain its stream connection details.
- Configure an encoder or continuous-stream service. Provide the video source and connect it to the livestream. Keep the source repeating and the encoder sending continuously. YouTube’s verified-encoder directory includes a third-party service described as supporting 24/7 prerecorded livestreams; directory inclusion is not a requirement or endorsement.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Check that both picture and sound are reaching YouTube, then continue monitoring the encoder stream. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality during encoder streams.
- Stop the encoder when the broadcast is over. YouTube recommends stopping the encoder after the event has stopped on YouTube.
Do not confuse livestreaming with the viewer’s Loop control
YouTube’s Loop feature is for someone watching a video or playlist: it repeats playback on the watch screen. It does not broadcast that video live to your channel. To make a repeating video appear as a livestream, you need an encoder or a service that supplies the live feed.
What changes when the stream runs beyond 12 hours?
Replay archiving
YouTube Help says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24-hour broadcast is therefore not guaranteed to produce a complete replay.

DVR rewind
DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for livestreams longer than 12 hours. Viewers should not assume they can rewind the full broadcast while it is live.

Copyright, policy, and monitoring still matter
- Only livestream material you have the rights to use, including music and other included content. A video being prerecorded or repeatedly streamed does not remove copyright obligations.
- Meet YouTube’s channel eligibility requirements and follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Copyright matches and other policy issues can lead to live-stream restrictions.
- Do not treat a 24/7 setup as guaranteed interruption-free. YouTube recommends monitoring encoder streams, and its documentation does not promise uninterrupted operation.
