Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor a finite video file, add -stream_loop -1 before its -i input option to repeat it indefinitely. For file-based live output, also add -re before that input so FFmpeg reads it at its native frame rate. These options handle a file reaching its end; they do not fix a dropped connection, encoder crash, or live source that has stopped sending data.
Loop a video file with FFmpeg
Use this command shape, replacing the bracketed section and destination with your existing stream mapping, encoding settings, YouTube server URL, and stream key:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i input.mp4 [your existing mapping/encoding options] -f flv "$YOUTUBE_RTMP_URL/$STREAM_KEY"
- Put
-reand-stream_loop -1before the-ifor the file they apply to. They are input options; placement matters. - Keep your existing audio/video mapping, codecs, and output settings unless those have a separate error.
- Use the YouTube server URL and stream key shown in your YouTube Live settings. Treat the key as a credential and do not publish it.
- Run a private or unlisted test. Check that FFmpeg stays running, that audio and video continue at the loop boundary, and that YouTube’s Live Control Room preview receives the stream.
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 as an infinite input loop; -stream_loop 0 means no loop. The -re option reads an input at its native frame rate, equivalent to -readrate 1. See the FFmpeg documentation for stream looping and FFmpeg input pacing documentation.
This is a template, not a verified command for every file, FFmpeg build, or YouTube configuration. With multiple inputs, place the relevant options before each corresponding -i. A particular container or command may behave differently at the loop boundary, so verify the transition before relying on it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose the right fix for the input
| Situation | What to do | What the loop option will not do |
|---|---|---|
| A finite local file should repeat | Use -stream_loop -1 for that input and -re to pace file-based live output. |
It does not provide transport reconnection or guarantee seamless audio/video transitions. |
| A file should play only once | Use a planned playlist or another source when it ends, or end the event normally. | A completed file cannot supply new content unless you repeat it or provide another source. |
| A camera or incoming network feed has stopped | Investigate the capture source, incoming feed, and connection. | Repeating a file is not a fix for a live source that has stopped producing data. |
| A scheduled YouTube event has stopped or not started | Check the Live Control Room preview, Go live state, and auto-start/auto-stop settings separately. | YouTube event controls do not make an input file loop. |
Do not apply a low read rate to a source that is already live or being captured in real time. FFmpeg warns that low read rates on actual capture or live inputs may cause packet loss.
Tell end-of-file apart from a stream failure
- Check whether FFmpeg exits near the file’s expected duration. If it does, end-of-file is a likely explanation. If it exits earlier, inspect its logs for write, protocol, or encoder errors.
- After adding the loop options, confirm that both audio and video continue across the boundary. A loop flag does not guarantee a clean transition for every file.
- Check whether FFmpeg is still running and whether YouTube’s Live Control Room preview is receiving valid media. Those are separate checks: a running encoder does not prove YouTube is receiving the stream.
- If FFmpeg remains running but YouTube stops receiving the stream, investigate the logs, network or RTMP connection, media compatibility, and YouTube stream health rather than assuming the loop failed.
- If a stream key is exposed, rotate it in YouTube Live Control Room.
Check YouTube’s encoder and event settings
YouTube’s encoder workflow requires the server URL and stream key. Its encoder guidance recommends RTMPS and publishes encoding settings; match the codec, keyframe interval, bitrate, resolution, and frame rate to the current recommendations and to what your encoder actually sends. These settings help compatibility and quality, but they do not make a file repeat. Consult YouTube’s stream settings and encoder settings rather than relying on a bitrate figure detached from your target resolution, frame rate, and codec.

YouTube describes ending a stream as stopping content sent from the encoder. Its auto-stop setting is separate: it controls stopping from the encoder when enabled, but does not loop an input. See YouTube’s encoder workflow and stream settings.
Test before an event, inspect the Live Control Room preview and stream health, and monitor audio and video. A repeated file may keep playing indefinitely, so make sure the repetition is intended and that you have permission to stream the content. YouTube’s live-streaming tips provide further guidance.

YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive condition, not a promise that a stream will continue indefinitely or that a repeated input avoids platform limits.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a YouTube channel that keeps playing uploaded videos while your computer is off, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube.
