The looping command is the same in India as elsewhere; use the exact credentials YouTube gives your channel and test the local connection before relying on it.
What you need before starting
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says livestreamers must be at least 16 years old. If you have never enabled live streaming, activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- A computer with FFmpeg installed, the podcast media file, and an internet connection with enough sustained upload capacity for your chosen stream settings.
- Permission to livestream the episode and all included music, clips, artwork, and other third-party material.
This is YouTube’s standard encoder workflow, not an India-specific FFmpeg setup. YouTube supplies the ingest address and stream key for your stream; India-specific network conditions still need to be tested from the location and connection you will use.
Get the YouTube stream URL and key
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live.
- Create an encoder stream or schedule one, then open its stream settings in Live Control Room.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream. Prefer the RTMPS URL. YouTube may show a regular RTMP address by default; its RTMPS instructions explain how to reveal the secure address.
- Keep the key private. Do not publish it, include it in screenshots, or expose it in shared logs or scripts. If it is disclosed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
YouTube’s API documentation describes the combined publishing destination as STREAM_URL/STREAM_NAME. Use the actual values and format presented by Live Control Room or your encoder rather than guessing an endpoint: YouTube Live Streaming API ingest guidance.
Prepare and inspect the episode file
The command below assumes one MP4 contains both the podcast audio and a visual track. Before streaming, inspect the file and confirm it has the intended audio and video streams. For example, use ffprobe -hide_banner "episode.mp4" and review the listed streams. If the file has multiple audio or video tracks, select the correct ones rather than relying on the first-stream mapping in the template.
- If the file has no video, add a visual source such as a still image and map that stream into the output.
- If it has no audio, it cannot provide the podcast sound; add the intended audio source and map it explicitly.
- Choose a resolution and frame rate that match the source and YouTube’s current encoder recommendations. Higher output quality requires more upload capacity.
Run FFmpeg with the episode looping
Use this as a starting template for a single audio/video MP4. It has not been tested against your particular file, FFmpeg build, account, or connection.

Depending on the address YouTube gives you and how your FFmpeg build handles it, the key may be appended to a base address or supplied separately by a frontend. Copy the actual values and follow the required format; do not share the completed command while it contains your key.
What the important options do
-rereads the file at its native rate instead of sending it as fast as the computer can process it. FFmpeg documents this in its real-time streaming examples.-stream_loop -1is an input option meaning loop that input indefinitely. It must appear before the corresponding-i, as shown in the FFmpeg option documentation.-map 0:v:0 -map 0:a:0selects the first video and first audio stream from input 0. Adjust or remove mappings if your file’s stream layout differs.-c:v libx264encodes video as H.264;-c:a aacencodes audio as AAC. Encoding can normalize output settings but uses computer resources.-b:v 8M,-minrate 8M, and-maxrate 8Mset the video rate target and bounds in this example;-bufsize 16Msets the rate-control buffer. YouTube’s published H.264 recommendation for 720p30 is 8 Mbps. This example does not scale the source to 720p or set its frame rate, so do not assume it produces 720p30. Check YouTube’s current encoder recommendations and align output resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and upload capacity.-g 60sets a 60-frame GOP. At 30 frames per second, that corresponds to a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends a two-second interval and says it should not exceed four seconds; adjust the GOP if your output frame rate differs.-f flvselects the RTMP-family output container used for ingest. The command targets the secure RTMPS address copied from Live Control Room.
YouTube’s current guidance recommends H.264, HEVC, or AV1 video, constant bitrate, a two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. The supplied 8 Mbps figure is specifically YouTube’s H.264 recommendation for 720p30, not a universal bitrate for every resolution and frame rate.

Preview, start, and stop the stream
- Run the command and wait for the feed preview in Live Control Room.
- Confirm that the intended picture and podcast audio are present before starting the live broadcast.
- Test representative audio and moving video, then watch stream health and warning messages while live. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends testing in advance and monitoring stream health.
- To stop sending the feed, interrupt FFmpeg. Then use the relevant Live Control Room controls for your stream type; YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe ending an immediate stream by stopping encoder content.
Troubleshooting
FFmpeg cannot connect or reports an SSL error
Check that you copied the URL from this stream’s Live Control Room settings, that it begins with rtmps, and that your FFmpeg build supports RTMPS. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance notes port 443 for SSL errors; use the address and port in the supplied destination rather than substituting a guessed server.

YouTube receives a feed but shows no picture or sound
Inspect the input streams and verify the -map values. A file without video needs a visual input; one without audio needs the intended audio input. Confirm both in the preview before going live.

The stream drops or shows health warnings
Check the local connection’s sustained upload capacity against the selected output bitrate, then reduce the output quality if the connection cannot maintain it. Review Live Control Room health messages and confirm the computer is not overloaded by encoding. Test from the same network and location you will use for the broadcast.
The loop does not repeat as expected
Confirm -stream_loop -1 is before the correct -i. It is an input option, so placing it after the input does not apply it to that file.

Copyright and YouTube live-stream rules
Looping a recording does not grant permission to broadcast it. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; identified material can trigger a placeholder, interruption, or termination. A license alone may not prevent detection: YouTube says a rights holder may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and confirm the channel has rights for every included element.
