Then switch between Wi‑Fi and cellular data, force-close the app, restart the phone, and install available updates. On Android, clear the app cache; on iPhone, offload or reinstall the app. Do not buy the same tickets again until you have checked your AMC account, confirmation email, and card activity.
This guide covers the U.S. AMC Theatres ticketing app—not the separate AMC television-network app.
First, find out whether AMC or your phone is failing
Run these checks before deleting anything:
- Open AMCTheatres.com in a private or normal browser window.
- Switch from Wi‑Fi to cellular data, or the other way around.
- Try another phone or computer if one is available.
- Try a different theatre or movie to see whether only one listing is affected.
- Check whether login, showtimes, ticket history, and checkout fail together.

Posts on Reddit can show that other customers are encountering failures, but they do not confirm a system-wide outage. Recent anecdotal reports include loading and sign-in problems: one report and another report. Treat AMC as potentially affected rather than definitely down unless AMC confirms an incident.
Quick fixes for both iPhone and Android
Force-close AMC
- iPhone: Open the app switcher and swipe AMC away, then open it again.
- Android: Open recent apps and swipe AMC away, or use Settings → Apps → AMC Theatres → Force stop. Labels vary by manufacturer.
Restart the phone
A restart can clear a stuck network session, temporary memory problem, or failed authentication state.

Test the connection
Temporarily disable a VPN, private DNS, ad blocker, content filter, or workplace/school network restriction. Make sure other websites load. These are diagnostic steps, not guaranteed AMC-specific fixes.
Update the app and operating system
- iPhone: App Store → profile picture → available updates → update AMC.
- Android: Google Play Store → profile picture → Manage apps & device → update AMC.
Also install any pending phone-system update and check that the device has free storage and automatic date and time enabled. AMC says its theatre app is available for iOS and Android: AMC mobile app information.
Fix the AMC app on Android
- Open Settings → Apps → AMC Theatres.
- Tap Force stop.
- Open Storage or Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear cache, then reopen AMC.
- If necessary, restart the phone and try again.
- Only as a later step, choose Clear storage or Clear data, then sign in again.
- Reinstall the app if clearing data does not help.
Google distinguishes temporary cache from storage: clearing storage removes the app’s local data and signs you out. It should not erase AMC’s server-side ticket, Stubs, or A‑List records, but confirm that you know the correct email address and password first. Fix the AMC app on iPhone
- Force-close AMC and restart the iPhone.
- Install the latest AMC update from the App Store.
- Open Settings → General → iPhone Storage → AMC Theatres.
- Choose Offload App when available, then reinstall it.
- If that fails, choose Delete App, restart the phone, and reinstall from the App Store.
- Sign in again and check the ticket area.
The U.S. App Store listing observed for this article displayed an iOS 16.0 minimum and version 7.0.138 dated July 27, 2026. Apple can change both requirements and version numbers, so use the current listing as the authority: AMC Theatres on the App Store.
When AMC login does not work
Password rejected
- Select Forgot password? in the app or on AMCTheatres.com.
- Check spam, junk, and promotional folders.
- Confirm that the reset email matches the address attached to your AMC Stubs account.
- Do not submit many reset requests while waiting for a delayed message.
AMC’s Stubs FAQ recommends the password-reset route. If a reset succeeds but login still fails, AMC advises clearing recent browser history/cache and then trying the new password: AMC Stubs FAQ.
You joined Stubs at a theatre
An account created in person may need to be registered online before app login works. Registration is different from merely changing a password.

The website works but the app does not
Sign out of old sessions, force-close the app, clear Android cache or reinstall on iPhone, and use the website temporarily. Avoid repeatedly changing the password; doing so can create additional authentication confusion.
“Needs to re-authenticate”
AMC has a separate support article for that message. Its instructions focus on clearing the relevant browser or app session and signing in again, and the article primarily concerns AMC’s video service; do not assume every Theatres login error follows the same procedure: AMC support article.
Fix “Oops,” “Load failed,” blank screens, and endless loading
- Use the app-versus-website and Wi‑Fi-versus-cellular tests first.
- Force-close, restart, update, and then apply the platform-specific cache or reinstall steps above.
- Try another theatre or showtime; a single inventory feed can fail while the rest of the account works.
- Capture the exact message, time, theatre, movie, device model, operating-system version, and app version before contacting support.
If the same error occurs on multiple devices and networks, reinstalling will not repair an AMC-side service or account problem.

Recover missing tickets or confirmations
Do this before purchasing again:
- Open the app’s ticket section.
- Sign in at AMCTheatres.com and check the account’s tickets area.
- Search email for the AMC confirmation and QR code.
- Use AMC’s Resend Confirmation Email tool with the purchase email and showtime date.
- Check whether the card shows a completed or pending charge.
- If the ticket remains inaccessible, contact the theatre before the printed showtime.

A card authorization can appear before the confirmation email. Do not immediately submit the order again.
- Check the bank or card account for a pending or posted charge.
- Verify that the billing address matches the issuer’s records.
- Remove an expired card and add it again in My AMC → Wallet, or try another payment method only after checking the first attempt.
- Save screenshots showing the time, theatre, seats, amount, and error; redact full card numbers.
- If two orders exist, request a refund for the unwanted one rather than assuming a charge will vanish.
AMC’s ticket FAQ generally allows website and mobile refunds before the printed showtime, subject to exceptions such as non-refundable event tickets. Convenience fees are not refundable, and theatre purchases generally must be handled at that location before showtime. Review the current rules at the AMC movie-ticket FAQ.

If your movie starts soon
- Open AMCTheatres.com in a mobile browser and switch to cellular data if needed.
- Search your email for the order confirmation or QR code.
- Use the confirmation-resend tool.
- Visit the theatre box office or guest services with your identification and purchase details.
- If AMC’s own channels remain unavailable, consider an authorized service named in AMC’s FAQ, such as Fandango, MovieTickets.com, or Atom Tickets. Fees, availability, and account linking can vary.
Do not rely on an unofficial ticket site or an unverified receipt. AMC’s ticket FAQ discusses recognized third-party routes: ticketing and refund guidance.
Contact AMC with useful evidence
Use the AMC Help Center or AMC contact form. AMC lists support hours as 8 a.m. to midnight Central, seven days a week; verify the current hours on its contact page.
Include your account email, theatre and showtime, phone model, operating-system and AMC app versions, exact error, order number, and screenshots with payment details removed. For app feedback, the Google Play listing directs users to Menu → Feedback & Support → App Feedback, though menu wording can change by version.
