The easiest way to watch Netflix together from different places is Teleparty on a supported computer: each person streams the title through their own Netflix access, while Teleparty synchronizes playback and provides text chat. It is a third-party service, not a built-in Netflix feature. If Teleparty is not supported on your device, use a countdown and a separate voice or video call.
Best option: use Teleparty for synchronized local playback
Teleparty coordinates playback while each viewer watches Netflix on their own device and account. It does not send the host’s video stream to everyone else. That distinction usually means better local playback quality and avoids relying on screen capture, which can be blocked by content-protection systems.
Teleparty’s Netflix instructions are at Teleparty’s Netflix page. Its support page lists Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Opera browser extensions, as well as an Android app; it does not currently list support for iPhone or iPad, smart TVs, or game consoles (Teleparty support).
Check these things before you make a party
- Access: Every participant needs access to Netflix and the selected title. Teleparty does not provide a subscription or unlock a title for other viewers.
- Title availability: Netflix libraries vary by country and can change. Have everyone search for and open the same title before the scheduled watch (Netflix: supported devices and content availability).
- Compatible setup: For the browser-extension method, use a desktop or laptop with Chrome, Edge or Opera, and install Teleparty for each participant.
- Household and streams: Netflix accounts are intended for one household. People outside it generally need their own account or an eligible extra-member arrangement where that option is available. The membership plan also limits how many screens can stream at once (Netflix Household; Netflix simultaneous-screen limits).
- Conversation: Teleparty includes text chat. Arrange a separate voice or video call if you want to talk aloud.
How to host a Netflix watch party
- On a desktop or laptop, open Chrome, Edge or Opera and install Teleparty from its official Netflix instructions.
- In that same browser, sign in to Netflix and open the profile you intend to use.
- Search for the movie or episode, open its watch page and start playback.
- Click the Teleparty button in the browser toolbar and create a party. If you cannot see the button, check the troubleshooting steps below.
- Copy the invitation link and send it privately to your guests.
- Wait for guests to join, then control play and pause from the host session while everyone checks that they have the right title and episode.
How to join a party
- Open the host’s invitation link on a computer using Chrome, Edge or Opera.
- Install Teleparty if prompted, then sign in to your own Netflix session.
- Open the title in your Netflix library and join the party.
- Check that the title and episode match the host’s selection. Use Teleparty chat or join the group’s separate voice call.
Once connected, Teleparty coordinates playback; viewers do not have to press play at exactly the same moment. Buffering, interruptions, ads or browser problems can still cause drift.

Which devices can you use?
| Device or setup | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Chrome on a desktop or laptop | Teleparty browser-extension route is listed as supported. |
| Microsoft Edge on a desktop or laptop | Teleparty browser-extension route is listed as supported. |
| Opera on a desktop or laptop | Teleparty browser-extension route is listed as supported. |
| Android | Teleparty lists an Android app; check current app availability and instructions. |
| iPhone or iPad | Not listed as currently supported by Teleparty. Use manual synchronization and a separate call. |
| Smart TV, game console or streaming stick | The Teleparty extension is not available for these devices. Watch Netflix locally and coordinate manually, or use a supported computer for the party. |
Keep the distinction clear: Netflix plays on a viewer’s local device; the party tool runs in its supported browser or app; conversation can happen in Teleparty chat or a separate calling service. Teleparty’s current device information is on its support page.
Do participants need the same Netflix plan?
No: the practical requirement is not identical plan names, but that each viewer can access the title and that the account being used has an available simultaneous stream. Netflix says the allowed number of simultaneous screens depends on the plan and ranges from one to four (Netflix help).

- Adjustable Wall Mount: Adjustable wall mount fits the devices at the dimensions: Vertical Height: Maximum 8" (no minimum), Vertical Length: 3.5"-10", Vertical Depth: 1.65" to 2.91"
- Compatible to: Modem mount is compatible to Cable Boxes, Media Players, Modems, DVD Players, Streaming Media Devices and Devices fitting the sizes(Check the dimensions of your devices if it will fit)
- Easy Installation: Cable box mount is installed by simply tightening the brackets with the included nuts. Screws and anchors for mounting are also included
- Multiple Installation Methods: Adjustable Cable Box Mount can be mounted on the Wall or behind your TV for 75 or 100 mm VESA patterns
- Open Hole Design: The open holes on both sides and bottom of the stand can hide your cables and cable boxes well and won't block the signal of the remote control
Plan differences can still affect the experience. For example, an ad-supported plan and an ad-free plan may not have identical interruptions, so do not assume ads will appear at the same time or that synchronization will handle every plan-specific interruption perfectly.
A shared account is not a blanket way to serve unrelated households. Netflix’s rules center on one household; viewers elsewhere should use their own account or an officially available extra-member option rather than trying to evade household checks (Netflix Household policy; Netflix account-sharing update).

Why the same title may not be available to everyone
Netflix’s catalog varies by region, so a movie or episode visible to one participant may not appear in another country. Before creating the party, have each person search Netflix independently and confirm that the same title opens. If it does not, choose something available in both libraries; a synchronization tool cannot fix a catalog restriction. Netflix describes regional variation in its content and device help, and Teleparty also advises international groups to verify title availability (Teleparty support).
How to talk while watching
Teleparty’s built-in chat is text-based. For live conversation, keep Netflix playing locally and use a separate audio or video call. Running both at once may use more bandwidth and battery and can affect performance, especially on a busy connection. Avoid depending on a shared Netflix screen: protected video may appear black or be blocked, and screen-sharing behavior varies by device and platform.

Troubleshooting a Netflix watch party
The Teleparty button is missing or inactive
- Confirm you are using Chrome, Edge or Opera on a desktop, or another environment Teleparty currently lists as supported.
- Check that the extension is installed and enabled, and look in the browser toolbar for its button.
- Sign in to Netflix, open a movie or episode watch page, and start playback; the Netflix home or search page is not enough.
- Reload Netflix after enabling or installing the extension.
- If it remains inactive, reinstall Teleparty and try again. Teleparty’s support instructions also advise checking that you are logged in and have an active supported video open.
A guest cannot join
- Have the guest open the link on a supported computer, install Teleparty if needed, and sign in to Netflix before reopening the invitation.
- Ask the host to copy and send a fresh link if the original may be incomplete or the party has ended.
- Confirm the title is available in the guest’s country and opens in their own Netflix session.
- If the problem continues, update or reinstall the extension and retry.
Playback has drifted out of sync
- Ask everyone to pause and wait for their streams to buffer.
- Confirm that all viewers are on the same title and episode.
- Resume from the host session, and avoid having several people seek or pause at once.
- If the drift continues, refresh Netflix, rejoin the party or create a new one. Close unnecessary tabs and applications if the device or connection is struggling.
Screen sharing shows a black video
Streaming content protection may prevent a video from being captured or retransmitted. Do not disable browser security or DRM protections to get around it. Instead, have each person play Netflix locally and use Teleparty for synchronization, or use a separate call for conversation.
Netflix reports an out-of-household account or a stream limit
An out-of-household warning is an account-access issue, not a Teleparty fault; follow Netflix’s household and eligible extra-member rules (Netflix Household help). If Netflix says too many devices are watching, end an existing stream or use an account whose plan has an available screen (simultaneous-screen limits).

If Teleparty is not an option: synchronize manually
- Both people open the same title on their own Netflix devices.
- Start a voice or video call, count down together, then press play.
- If playback drifts, pause and agree on a timestamp before resuming.
This approach needs no watch-party extension and works with devices such as TVs and consoles, but it cannot automatically synchronize pausing or seeking. Separate local playback also avoids relying on a screen share that may be blocked.
Is Teleparty free?
Teleparty says its free version supports Netflix with basic synchronization and text chat; those are the core features most people need for a Netflix movie night. Its support page also lists Premium features and pricing of $6.59 per month, or $3.99 per month when billed annually ($47.88 per year), with a seven-day trial for the annual plan and none for the monthly plan. Teleparty’s prices and trial terms may vary by country, billing channel, tax or promotion; check its current support page before subscribing. Premium is not necessary simply to use the basic Netflix watch-party features.
