To change Spotify’s interface language, use Spotify’s own settings on iPhone or iPad, Android 13 or newer, and the desktop app. Android 12 or older relies on the device language, while the web player follows the browser language. These steps change the app’s display language—not the language of songs or podcasts.
Quick guide: iPhone/iPad and Android 13 or newer: Spotify profile picture → Settings and privacy → Content and display → App language. Desktop app: profile picture → Settings → Language, then log out and back in. Android 12 or older: change the device’s language. Web player: change the browser’s language.

Spotify’s current platform instructions are in its app-language help page. Menu labels may appear translated if Spotify is already set to another language.
Change Spotify’s language on iPhone or iPad
- Open Spotify and tap your profile picture at the top.
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Tap Content and display.
- Tap App language.
- Choose the language you want.
This is an in-app Spotify setting, so Spotify’s instructions do not require changing the iPhone or iPad’s system language.

Change Spotify’s language on Android
Android 13 or newer
Spotify’s current instructions for Android 13 and newer use the in-app language selector:
- Open Spotify and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Settings and privacy, then Content and display.
- Tap App language and select a language.
Android 12 or older
Spotify directs users on Android 12 or older to change the language in the device’s language settings. That changes the language for the entire device, not just Spotify. Follow the instructions for your phone or tablet’s manufacturer; the exact settings path can vary.

If you want to change only Spotify’s language, the in-app option is the more limited-scope route documented for Android 13 and newer. Spotify’s current help page does not establish a Spotify-only setting for Android 12 or older.
Change Spotify’s language in the desktop app
- Open the Spotify desktop app and click your profile picture at the top.
- Select Settings.
- Under Language, choose the language you want.
- Log out, then log back in for the change to take effect.
This path is for Spotify’s desktop app, not the web player.

Change the language in Spotify Web Player
The web player uses your browser’s language setting rather than a separate Spotify-only language control. Change the language in the browser’s settings, then reopen the web player if needed. Spotify notes that this browser setting affects all web pages shown in that browser, not only Spotify. See Spotify’s Web Player Help for general browser-based web-player guidance.
If Spotify still appears in the old language
- Check that you followed the instructions for the platform you are using; desktop app and web player use different settings.
- Confirm the language selection, then fully close and reopen Spotify. Reopening is a general troubleshooting step, not a separate requirement stated in Spotify’s instructions.
- On desktop, log out and back in; Spotify specifically calls for this step.
- In the web player, check the browser’s language setting rather than only the device or Spotify app settings.
- If App language is missing on Android, check the Android version. Spotify directs Android 12 and older users to the device language settings.
If the menu labels do not match, look for the equivalent language and display settings; labels or layout can differ when the app is already in another language.

What changing the app language does—and does not do
The setting changes Spotify’s interface language: the language used for the app’s controls and display. Spotify’s instructions describe an app-language setting, not a translation setting for audio or metadata. It does not translate song or podcast audio, lyrics, artist names, or playlist titles, and it does not necessarily change recommendations or search results. Some titles and other information are supplied by rights holders or users, and editorial material may only be available in certain languages.
Changing Spotify’s country or region is also a different action from changing the interface language. Spotify lists country or region settings separately from its app-language instructions.
