Is HISTORY available on YouTube TV?
The HISTORY Channel is a separate cable network and is not in YouTube TV’s current lineup. HISTORY’s own support page specifically says its programming is not currently available through YouTube TV: HISTORY support.
YouTube TV availability can vary by ZIP code for some local and regional networks, but this is not a local-market omission. Changing your home ZIP code will not add HISTORY. YouTube TV describes its general network availability here: YouTube TV network information.
Can you add HISTORY as a YouTube TV add-on?
No. YouTube TV’s add-on system only includes networks that Google offers through its membership catalog. In a browser, check Profile picture → Settings → Membership; eligible networks have an Add button. On a compatible TV, open YouTube TV, select the store icon near your profile picture, choose an available network, and select Add network. Those steps are documented by Google at YouTube TV add-on instructions, but HISTORY is not an available option.

You also cannot import a channel purchased from another provider into YouTube TV. A YouTube TV subscription does not automatically authorize the HISTORY app.
Why do HISTORY results sometimes appear?
- Regular YouTube videos: Official or licensed clips may appear on YouTube, but they are not a live HISTORY feed.
- YouTube TV search results: A program page or individual episode result does not prove that the live network or every episode is included. Check whether the result is labeled as live, included, or simply a YouTube video.
- HISTORY Vault: This is a separate subscription service, not part of YouTube TV.
Can YouTube TV credentials unlock the HISTORY app?
No. YouTube TV is not currently an authenticated HISTORY provider. HISTORY lists supported providers for its apps and website at What TV providers support the HISTORY app.
Carrying the channel and supporting app sign-in are different benefits. HISTORY says Frndly TV and Sling provide access to HISTORY programming and live television but cannot currently be used to sign in to the HISTORY apps or website. HISTORY identifies Philo, Hulu + Live TV, and DIRECTV STREAM among providers that can support its programming and app access; verify the current rules and qualifying plan before subscribing.

Should existing YouTube TV subscribers add another service?
Keeping YouTube TV and adding a second service makes sense if YouTube TV supplies sports, local stations, DVR features or household viewing that you still need. Frndly TV is the simplest low-cost companion for occasional live HISTORY viewing, but its lack of HISTORY-app sign-in matters if you want to use the network’s own app.
If you mainly use YouTube TV for entertainment and do not depend on its sports or local lineup, compare the combined monthly cost with switching to Philo or another provider that carries HISTORY. Do not replace YouTube TV solely for one channel unless the replacement’s broader lineup also suits you.
What if you only need documentaries?
HISTORY Vault is the better fit when you want a curated on-demand catalog rather than a live schedule. HISTORY’s direct-subscription guidance notes that recent premieres from the television channel may not be available immediately, so Vault should not be treated as a next-day replacement for every broadcast.
How to request HISTORY on YouTube TV
You can submit a network request through YouTube TV’s official availability page: YouTube TV network-request information. This is feedback, not an order form. Submitting a request does not provide access while you wait, and no imminent HISTORY carriage deal has been announced in the cited provider documentation.
