That range refers to local ABC stations, not one nationwide ABC channel. DISH’s 2024 guides listed ABC in that range, and its current guide still says the channel depends on region. How to find your exact ABC channel on DISH
- Open DISH’s online channel guide or its local-channel lookup.
- Enter the ZIP code or full service address for the installation. DISH says the address provides the most accurate local listing.
- Search for ABC or review the local-network results. The station may appear under its call letters or local brand rather than simply “ABC.”
- On your receiver, press Guide and search or browse for the local affiliate. If it is missing, check that the guide is showing all subscribed channels rather than only a favorites list.
Use the DISH listing rather than assuming the station’s over-the-air channel number will match its satellite-guide number.

Why ABC’s channel number varies
DISH carries local ABC affiliates, and each market has its own station and channel assignment. The DISH channel guide dated March 6, 2024 listed ABC as “Local Networks: 2–70” and cautioned that local programming could vary by geography; availability could also depend on location, time zone, package and dish antenna. The current DISH ABC page likewise describes the number as region-dependent. A number such as 7 may be right in one market, but it is not a national DISH standard.
Local assignments and carriage can change. The range is a guide to where local ABC stations may appear, not a promise that every household has an ABC affiliate on a particular number.

Does your DISH package include ABC?
DISH describes ABC as available in packages with the Local Channels Add-On. Local stations are distinct from national cable channels, so a larger national package alone may not address a missing local affiliate. Availability also depends on the market and the applicable affiliate agreement; check the ZIP-code or address lookup before changing packages.
DISH’s 2024 guide said HD was not available in every region and required compatible HD equipment and service. Whether your local ABC station appears in HD can therefore depend on your market and equipment.
ABC is missing from the DISH guide: what to check
Work through these checks in order. DISH’s missing-channel instructions cover guide filters, receiver resets and reauthorization.
- Check the guide view. Press Guide and choose All Subscribed, or the equivalent full-channel view on your receiver. Remove a favorites-only filter that could hide the station.
- Wake or reauthorize the receiver. Sign in to your DISH account, open My Account, select My Equipment, then choose Wake Up Receivers. Wait several minutes and check the guide again.
- Restart the receiver. Unplug its power cord for 10 seconds, reconnect it and allow up to about five minutes for it to restart.
- Confirm your service location. If the receiver is being used away from the address on the DISH account—for example, after a move or while traveling—local channels may not appear as expected. DISH’s DISH Outdoors guide explains location-related limitations.
- Check for an interruption. Negotiations or a programming dispute can affect a local station’s availability, independent of your receiver. Severe weather can also cause satellite signal loss; DISH has separate signal-loss guidance.
- Contact DISH if the station remains absent. Ask whether the local affiliate is available for your service address and whether there is an account, authorization or carriage issue.
If ABC appears but has no guide information
“No Information” can indicate missing guide data rather than a missing ABC authorization. For Hopper or Wally equipment, DISH’s guide-information troubleshooting recommends this update path:

- Make sure a tuner is available.
- Press Home three times, then select Tools and Guide Update.
- Allow roughly 10 minutes for guide data to download. If information still does not appear, reset the receiver using the power steps above.
If DISH says “Channel Unavailable”
DISH identifies error 031 as one possible “Channel Unavailable” condition. Maintenance, a receiver issue or a channel interruption may be responsible. Check for a reported maintenance event or programming dispute; if maintenance is not the cause, restart the receiver. If the message persists, follow DISH’s channel-unavailable instructions or contact support.

Can you watch ABC another way?
DISH Anywhere may offer access to channels associated with your account, but it does not bypass local-affiliate rights or carriage restrictions. If ABC is missing there, the cause may be at the receiver or account level, and recent account changes can take time to appear; see DISH’s DISH Anywhere missing-channel guidance.
An over-the-air antenna is a separate option if your home can receive the local ABC broadcast signal. Reception depends on location and antenna conditions, and the antenna channel is not necessarily the DISH channel number.

A guide filter, receiver or account authorization issue, service-location mismatch, signal interruption or local carriage dispute can all affect access. Check the guide’s full subscribed-channel view first, then follow the troubleshooting steps above.
Can I watch my local ABC while traveling with DISH?
Local-channel availability can depend on the receiver’s registered service address and the applicable market. DISH Anywhere access is also subject to account and local-channel rights.
