The television stories adapt the crime novels about detective partners Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott. Rowling’s official FAQ records eight published Strike novels and two more planned. The eighth, The Hallmarked Man, was published on September 2, 2025, in the UK, U.S., Australia and New Zealand; its premise begins with a dismembered body found in a silver-shop vault.
The Ink Black Heart remains the sixth television story, but it is no longer the latest Strike adaptation to have aired. Rowling’s FAQ identifies The Running Grave as the latest adaptation broadcast in 2026. That later broadcast does not change which novel the sixth story adapts.
