The duet was a performance of Stapleton’s song, not a newly verified track on his Higher album. A separate live recording was released afterward under the title Think I’m In Love With You (with Dua Lipa) (Live from the 59th ACM Awards).
Why Dua Lipa’s appearance was a surprise
The ACM had announced Stapleton as a performer but said additional performers would be revealed later. Lipa’s participation was therefore withheld from the initial public lineup, making her entrance an in-show surprise rather than a separately advertised duet.

Stapleton said in a backstage interview that the pair had worked out what they would perform only about two days before the ceremony: “We really only kind of put together what we did like two days ago.” Lipa described the collaboration as “a big dream of mine to work with Chris.”
How the performance came together
The available artist comments establish a short preparation window, but they do not provide a complete account of rehearsals, staging or production planning. Lipa also explained her interest in country music, saying, “I love the storytelling, I love the passion.”

For the official live release, MCA said Stapleton performed with his band, The Honchos, alongside a 13-piece string section. That instrumentation applies to the released live performance version and gives the duet a fuller arrangement than a simple two-vocalist presentation.

The official live recording
MCA announced the live duet recording on May 20, 2024, four days after the awards. Its full title, Think I’m In Love With You (with Dua Lipa) (Live from the 59th ACM Awards), distinguishes it from the original studio song and from the tracks on Higher.
The live release is a listening option; the awards broadcast is the way to revisit the complete televised moment, including the surprise reveal. They are separate formats and may have different availability.
