Netflix can appear in Spanish for three different reasons: the profile’s display language is set to Spanish, a title is using Spanish audio or subtitles, or Netflix is showing the language tracks available for your location, device, season, or download. These controls are separate. Change the setting that is actually causing the problem rather than changing the whole account blindly.
First identify what is in Spanish

Netflix says language availability depends on your location, profile language preferences, the title, and the viewing device. A profile preference therefore cannot guarantee that every show will offer Spanish or English. See Netflix’s explanation at Language availability on Netflix.
Change the Netflix interface back from Spanish
Display language is saved per profile, not as a universal switch for every profile on the account. Netflix’s current instructions are in How to use Netflix in your preferred language.
On a smart TV or streaming device
- Open Netflix and go to the profile-selection screen.
- Select the profile that is showing Spanish, then select Edit.
- Select Language, choose the language you want, and select Done.
The change saves automatically. If the menus are already Spanish, the same controls may be labeled Modificar (or shown by a pencil icon), Idioma, and Listo.

On an Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad
- Open Netflix and tap My Netflix in the lower-right corner.
- Tap the profile name at the top, then tap Manage Profiles.
- Select the affected profile, tap Display Language, and choose your language.
Spanish labels are Mi Netflix, Administrar perfiles, and Idioma de visualización. The setting saves automatically.
In a web browser
- Open the Netflix Account page.
- Select Profiles, choose the profile, and select Languages.
- Choose a Display Language and select Save.
In Spanish these controls appear as Cuenta, Perfiles, Idiomas, Idioma de visualización, and Guardar. If a device does not update immediately, sign out of Netflix and sign back in.

Change Spanish audio or subtitles
Changing the interface does not change a show’s soundtrack or captions. Audio and subtitle preferences are separate profile settings, and each title displays only the tracks Netflix has licensed and supplied for your location and device.

Set preferred languages for the profile
- Phone or tablet: Open My Netflix (Spanish: Mi Netflix), tap the profile name, choose Manage Profiles (Administrar perfiles), select the profile, then choose Audio & Subtitles.
- Web browser: Open Account > Profiles > the profile > Languages. Select the preferred Audio and subtitle languages, then Save.
These preferences influence future playback, but they cannot create a language track that is unavailable for a particular title.

Change the language while a title is playing
- Start the film or episode and pause it.
- On a phone, tablet, or computer, tap or click the screen. On a TV, console, Blu-ray player, cable box, or streaming player, press the remote’s up or down arrow. On Apple TV, swipe up or press the up arrow.
- Open Audio & Subtitles (Spanish: Audio y subtítulos).
- Select the audio and subtitle languages you want. On many TVs, choose Other (Otros) to reveal the complete list.
Selections made in the player save automatically when Netflix supports saving them for that profile and title.
Why Spanish keeps coming back
Kids titles do not always save preferences from an adult profile
Netflix says audio and subtitle choices are not saved for most Kids titles watched from an adult profile. They are saved when the title is watched from a Kids profile. If a language resets only on children’s programs, use the appropriate Kids profile rather than repeatedly changing the player controls.

Establish an audio preference
If audio resets every time, Netflix recommends playing a title rated Teens or above for two to three minutes. Netflix says this establishes the preferred audio language for future viewing.
Availability changes by title, season, episode, and location
A profile can prefer English while a particular episode offers only Spanish and other tracks. Licensing agreements and the country where you are watching can remove a requested language. Different seasons or episodes can also have different tracks; Netflix notes that language tracks for seasons offered before 2018 may be unavailable in some cases. For weekly or rolling releases, tracks may not appear until the relevant episodes are completed.

Foreign-language dialogue can force captions
Netflix may show subtitles even when subtitles are turned off if a title contains dialogue in a language different from the title’s original language. Those captions are part of the program’s presentation, not necessarily a profile-language failure.

Streaming on a supported device displays all language options Netflix makes available for the title. A download displays only the two most relevant languages. Netflix says this restriction can remain even when you watch the downloaded file over Wi‑Fi. Delete the download, stream the title, and select Audio & Subtitles again to see whether additional languages are available.
When the device or app is the problem
“This device does not support the preferred or local language”
Netflix identifies two official causes: an outdated Netflix app or an older device. Install every available Netflix app update. If the message remains, use Netflix in English or another supported language, or watch on a newer device. See Netflix’s device-language guidance.
Older hardware may not render every subtitle alphabet
Some subtitle languages may not display on devices manufactured before 2014. Netflix lists Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Romanian, and Vietnamese among affected languages. Newer devices generally support more languages, but Netflix does not guarantee that devices made after 2014 support every language.
A quick fix checklist
- Check whether Spanish affects menus, audio, subtitles, or only a download.
- For menus, edit the affected profile’s Display Language.
- For one title, open Audio & Subtitles during playback and choose the desired tracks.
- Check another episode or season before assuming Netflix is malfunctioning.
- Delete a download if it is limiting you to two languages, then check the streaming version.
- Update the Netflix app and confirm the device is not too old to support the language.
- If audio keeps resetting, play a Teens-or-above title for two to three minutes; use a Kids profile for Kids playback.
What changing the language cannot do
- Changing Display Language does not dub every show into that language.
- A preferred language does not override title-specific licensing or country availability.
- One profile’s setting does not change the settings of other profiles.
- Streaming availability does not guarantee the same choices for a downloaded title.
In short, “Netflix in Spanish” is usually a profile display setting or a title-level audio/subtitle choice. Once those are checked separately, the remaining differences are normally explained by licensing, location, release timing, downloads, or device support rather than a broken account.
