Yes—DISH can support viewing on multiple screens, but the right setup depends on what “multiple screens” means. For different programs on separate TVs, use a Hopper with a Joey or compatible receiver at each additional TV. For several channels on one TV, Hopper 3 offers customizable four-feed MultiView. For phones, tablets, computers, and some connected TVs, use DISH Anywhere with compatible equipment and an internet connection.
These are different features: Joeys add independent viewing locations; MultiView puts several feeds on one screen; DISH Anywhere extends viewing to supported internet-connected devices.

Watch different programs on multiple TVs with Joeys
A typical whole-home setup has one central Hopper DVR and a Joey receiver connected to each additional television. DISH describes Joeys as providing access to the Hopper’s live, recorded, and on-demand programming. One Joey is needed for each additional TV; the number the account can support depends on the Hopper, installation, and service agreement. See DISH’s Joey receiver overview.
A wired Joey connects through the home’s coaxial setup. A Wireless Joey avoids running coax to that room, but still requires a compatible Hopper and a suitable wireless installation. A 4K Joey is intended for a compatible 4K television and supported 4K programming. Joey 4 and other newer equipment may have specific Hopper compatibility requirements, so confirm compatibility before ordering.

- The Joey 2.0 allows customers to expand their service to multiple rooms in the house without having to add a separate DVR in every room. They are small boxes that connect to your Hopper3 DVR and provide one seamless experience throughout the house. Start watching a program in one room, pause it, and resume it in another room with a Joey 2.0. You’ll need one Joey 2.0 for each additional TV.
A passive HDMI splitter is not a substitute for a Joey. It duplicates one receiver’s output; the connected TVs do not gain independent channel selection. If one person changes the channel on the shared receiver, the other screen may change too.
General setup steps
- Check the model of the main receiver. A Hopper is the usual central receiver for whole-home Joey viewing.
- Confirm that each additional TV has its own compatible Joey or receiver and that it is authorized on the account.
- Connect the receiver to its television with HDMI. Connect a wired Joey to the installed coaxial network, or place and configure a Wireless Joey as directed for the compatible system.
- Turn on the TV and select the HDMI input used by that receiver.
- Pair the remote with the receiver and, if desired, the television. On many DISH remotes, press Home twice → Remote Control → TV and follow the pairing wizard. Hopper Plus, Joey 4, and Wireless Joey 4 use a different documented route: Home → Settings gear → DISH settings → Remote control → TV → TV Pairing Wizard.
- Open the Guide or Search on that receiver and choose a channel or recording. Repeat at each TV.
Menu names can differ by receiver, remote, and software version. A soundbar or third-party TV can also affect remote pairing. DISH’s remote support page has current model-specific instructions.
See multiple channels on one TV with Hopper 3 MultiView
Hopper 3 supports customizable MultiView with as many as four feeds on a single television. While watching live TV, press the remote’s Options button or red button, depending on the remote; choose Picture In Picture, then MultiView. The last four channels viewed appear. Use the arrow buttons to highlight a feed, then select it to make it the main picture and hear its audio. To replace a feed, highlight it and tune to another channel, choose a program from the Guide, or select a DVR recording or on-demand program. Exact controls can vary by remote and software. - Picture-in-picture: shows two programs at once.
- Customizable MultiView: up to four selected feeds on Hopper 3.
- Multi-Channel View: six predetermined feeds rather than six freely selected channels. DISH’s current instructions list channel 100; channel assignments can change.
- College Sports Multi-View: up to six sports feeds when available. Current instructions list channel 151, but event availability and channel assignments may change. DISH also describes a soccer-oriented Futbol360 view where available.
Multiple video panes do not mean multiple independent soundtracks: the selected or highlighted feed generally supplies the active audio. On compatible voice remotes, the SAT button may swap picture-in-picture or MultiView windows; older remotes may use dedicated PiP or color buttons.

Do not assume every Hopper model has Hopper 3’s customizable four-feed feature. DISH’s current Hopper Plus support documentation describes MultiView as “coming soon,” so Hopper 3 is the documented choice when four customizable feeds are the priority.
Use DISH Anywhere on mobile devices and connected TVs
DISH Anywhere can extend eligible DISH programming and recordings to supported smartphones, tablets, computers, Fire TV, Android TV, and some smart TVs. It is included with eligible DISH service and compatible equipment, not a standalone substitute for a DISH subscription. Device support, available channels, and program rights can vary. DISH’s DISH Anywhere overview lists supported device categories.
For live and recorded TV away from the receiver, DISH specifies an internet-connected Hopper with Sling or Hopper 3. Hopper Duo does not support live TV streaming through DISH Anywhere. The app is not the same as installing a Joey in another room: it depends on internet access and device support and may not offer the same room-by-room receiver experience.

How many screens or programs can run at once?
Keep four separate quantities in mind: TVs or devices, receivers, tuners, and simultaneous streams. They are not interchangeable. Hopper 3 has 16 tuners and can record up to 16 programs at once, according to DISH; that number is not a promise that any 16 screens can all watch different live channels. Active live viewing, recordings, streaming-only channels, third-party apps, and DISH Anywhere can each have their own limits or restrictions. Recording conflicts and programming rights can also affect what is available. DISH provides Hopper 3 product details and a whole-home overview.
DISH’s published materials do not give one universal TV maximum for every account and installation: a marketing page says a Hopper can connect up to seven TVs, while agreement material describes installation supporting up to six leased receivers or TVs. Treat these as different published terms, not a guaranteed limit for your home. Confirm the maximum for your receiver, market, account, and agreement with DISH before adding equipment.
Internet and satellite viewing are different
Joey-based satellite viewing primarily relies on the DISH receiver network and satellite signal. DISH Anywhere and streaming apps rely on an internet connection, so broadband speed, Wi-Fi coverage, congestion, and data policies can affect them. DISH lists at least 1 Mbps for certain internet-delivered live-streaming channels, but that is not a general recommendation for several simultaneous HD streams. Do not assume one universal bandwidth figure applies to every DISH Anywhere device or program; check current device-specific guidance.
If streaming buffers, test actual download speed near the device, check Wi-Fi signal and router placement, and consider Ethernet where available. Account for other household traffic and any ISP data cap. A satellite signal problem and an internet buffering problem have different causes, so identify which kind of viewing is failing before troubleshooting.

What does adding another screen cost?
There is no single reliable total without the customer’s account and equipment details. DISH’s fee schedule lists monthly charges of $7 for a Wired Joey, Wireless Joey, or 4K Joey, $10 for a Super Joey, and $15 for Hopper or ViP DVR service. These are published fee-table signals, not a guarantee of the charge on a particular account. Promotions, account age, receiver functionality, and service agreements can change the bill. Check DISH’s current fee table and request an itemized quote.
For context, DISH’s August 2026 offer materials advertised America’s Top 120 at $89.99 per month, with higher package prices, and listed an offer end date of September 9, 2026. That date has passed; do not treat those prices or offer terms as currently available. The offer also had qualification, eAutoPay, and two-year commitment conditions. New-customer promotions do not necessarily apply to existing customers. Ask about equipment, installation, activation or upgrade charges, taxes, surcharges, commitment terms, and any early termination charge before agreeing. DISH’s price information and offer page can change.
Troubleshooting by symptom
Only one TV changes channels
Check whether both TVs are connected to the same receiver output or an HDMI splitter instead of having separate receivers. Confirm each TV has its own authorized Joey or receiver, select the correct HDMI input, and restart the Joey and Hopper. For a wired Joey, check its coax connection; for wireless equipment, check its network status and placement. If the receiver is not authorized, contact DISH.

A Joey has no picture, or the screen is black
Press Home on the DISH remote to check whether the TV is on the receiver’s input. Reseat the HDMI cable, try another HDMI port, and restart the TV and receiver. Check receiver signal or network status; for a Wireless Joey, reduce obstructions and improve wireless placement. DISH’s remote troubleshooting guidance also starts by verifying the TV input.

DISH Anywhere will not play live TV
Confirm the Hopper model—Hopper Duo does not support live TV streaming through DISH Anywhere—and make sure the compatible Hopper is connected to the internet. Sign in with the correct DISH account, update or reinstall the app, try another supported device or browser, and check whether that particular channel or program is streamable.
MultiView is missing
Return to live satellite TV, then try Options or the red button and look for Picture In Picture. Confirm the receiver is Hopper 3; another receiver or Hopper Plus may not provide the same feature. If the model should support it, restart the receiver and check for software updates. Standard picture-in-picture or the predetermined Multi-Channel View may be available instead.
Viewing freezes or buffers
For app-based viewing, check internet speed and Wi-Fi coverage, pause other heavy downloads, move closer to the router, or use Ethernet. Restart the router and device, then test the same content on another supported device. If Joey satellite viewing is affected instead, investigate receiver signal and connections rather than treating it as internet buffering.

- Permanent extra TV and independent room control: add a compatible Joey or receiver for that TV.
- Sports or news feeds together on one screen: use Hopper 3 MultiView if four customizable feeds meet the need.
- Portable viewing or an occasional extra screen: try DISH Anywhere if the Hopper and device are supported and the internet connection is adequate.
- Unsure about limits or fees: identify the receiver model and get account-specific confirmation before upgrading.
For streaming apps such as Netflix or Prime Video, the app provider’s own device and simultaneous-stream rules apply; those are separate from DISH receiver limits. For most households, choosing between a Joey, MultiView, and DISH Anywhere comes down to whether the extra screen is a separate television, another pane on the same TV, or an internet-connected device.
