In the United States, Amazon currently allows up to 50 downloaded titles with the Prime Video benefit, or up to 100 with Prime Video Ultra. The allowance is shared across profiles on the account, and a particular title or device may have a stricter limit. These are title-count limits—not storage limits—and the figures may differ outside the U.S.
Current Prime Video download limits
Amazon’s April 10, 2026 announcement raised the U.S. Prime Video allowance from 25 to 50 titles and set the Ultra allowance at 100. Amazon describes these as limits on downloads; its usage rules refer to a maximum number of titles across devices associated with an account. The limit is not measured in gigabytes or viewing hours. Amazon says Ultra costs $4.99 per month in the U.S.; it also lists a $45.99 annual option for annual Prime members. Ultra adds features such as ad-free viewing and enhanced streaming, but paying for it does not make every video downloadable or remove title-specific restrictions. See Amazon’s plan details

It is an account-level allowance, not a separate allowance for each profile. Downloads made by other people on the account—on another profile, phone, tablet, or computer—can use the same capacity. That does not mean every title can be saved on every device. A subscription title can generally be downloaded to two devices at a time. If the same title is already on two devices, you may need to remove it from one before downloading it elsewhere. This per-title device restriction is separate from the overall 50- or 100-title allowance.
Amazon’s rules also say limits may vary by location and other factors. Treat 50 and 100 as the U.S. figures Amazon currently publishes—not a worldwide guarantee. Mobile-only editions and add-on channel titles may have different availability or limits.
How to download a movie, episode, or season
Downloads are made in the Prime Video app on a supported device, not generally through an ordinary web browser. The exact controls can vary by app version and device.

- Movie: Open the app, find the movie, open its detail page, and select the download option.
- TV episode: Open the series, choose a season, and select the download icon beside an episode.
- Whole season: If offered, choose the app’s season-download control. Its wording and placement may differ across devices.
Amazon lists Fire tablets, iPhone and iPad, Android devices, macOS, and Windows 10 and 11 among the supported download platforms. On Android and Windows, you can choose where downloads are saved; Amazon does not recommend USB-connected drives for this. Check the Prime Video download help page for current platform details.

Why does Prime Video say the download limit is reached?
The message can refer to different restrictions. Before upgrading or changing devices, check which one applies:
- The account has reached its total allowance. Downloads on other profiles and devices count too.
- The same title is already on the maximum number of devices. Subscription titles are generally limited to two devices at a time, even if the account has room for more titles.
- The title has a lower restriction or is not downloadable. Availability depends on licensing and content-provider rules; streaming access does not guarantee offline access.
- The app has not synchronized a deletion. A download removed on one device may remain on another, or the change may not yet have synchronized.
- The device or app is unsupported or out of date. Use a supported Prime Video app and update it if downloads behave unexpectedly.
The title count should not be confused with device storage. Freeing gigabytes on a phone helps only if storage is the problem; it does not by itself change an account-level or title-level restriction.
How to free download slots
- Check the Downloads area in Prime Video on every device associated with the account, including devices used by other profiles.
- Delete titles you no longer need. If the same title was saved on more than one device, check each device separately.
- Reconnect the devices to the internet, then close and reopen the app so changes can synchronize.
- If the issue persists, update the Prime Video app and the device’s operating system.
- Sign out or reinstall only after confirming you no longer need the local downloads; those steps can remove files from the device but do not necessarily clear an account or title restriction.
- If the count still appears wrong, use Amazon’s account/device management and contact Prime Video support.
Deleting an app is not the same as removing a download through the app, and reinstalling it is not a guaranteed way to reset the account’s allowance.
How long do downloads last?
For subscription titles, Amazon says viewers typically have 30 days to start watching after downloading and 48 hours to finish once playback begins. The specific title’s licensing terms can change availability. A download may also become unavailable if the relevant Prime or Prime Video membership ends. Amazon’s usage rules

Subscription, purchase, and rental downloads are different

These device counts are general rules, not promises for every title. Check Amazon’s current usage rules for applicable restrictions. Free ad-supported videos generally are not available for download.
What if a title has no download option?
Some videos can be streamed but not saved for offline viewing because of licensing or provider restrictions. Look for the download option on the title’s detail page. If it is absent, a larger account allowance—or an Ultra subscription—will not unlock it. A rental or purchase may sometimes offer a download option, but that is not guaranteed.
Downloads are app-based, and offline playback has limits: Amazon says downloaded content cannot be played through Chromecast or AirPlay. A device’s supported offline playback options may differ, so check the help information for the device you plan to use.

Ultra is most relevant for U.S. households that regularly need more than 50 downloaded titles and also value its other features, such as ad-free viewing or enhanced streaming. If you only need a handful of titles for a trip, first remove old downloads and check other profiles and devices. If a particular video is unavailable offline or blocked by a device limit, Ultra will not fix that problem.

Older search results often say 15 or 25 downloads because those figures appeared in earlier, sometimes location-dependent guidance. Amazon’s 2026 U.S. announcement supersedes the old 25-title headline for the plans it describes; it does not establish one global limit for every country or edition. An older Amazon forum answer

Is the Prime Video download limit per profile?

Why can I stream a title but not download it?
Streaming and offline rights are different. A title may be streamable but not licensed for download; the download option on its detail page indicates availability.
Do purchased movies count toward the Prime subscription download limit?
Purchased videos follow separate rules and can generally be downloaded to up to four compatible devices when the option is available. Subscription titles generally have a two-device-per-title rule.
Can I watch Prime Video downloads on a TV?
Downloaded playback cannot be sent through Chromecast or AirPlay. Offline playback options depend on the supported device and connection method.
