For the Canadian streaming week of April 21–27, 2025, the biggest launches were the final seasons of Andor and You. The week also brought Crave’s weekly thriller Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, Netflix’s action film Havoc, and two contrasting Prime Video originals: the science-fiction horror film Ash and the ballet-world comedy-drama Étoile.
This is a curated selection of notable releases, not a complete list of every title added to Canadian streaming services. The dates below refer to their Canadian launches in 2025.

Anthony Horowitz’s six-episode thriller begins with plane-crash survivors stranded in a Mexican jungle. When members of the group begin turning up dead, the survivors must determine whether the danger is outside the group—or among them.

The series stars Eric McCormack, David Ajala, Lydia Wilson, Jan Le and Adam Long. McCormack, who is from Toronto, gives the production a notable Canadian connection, alongside other Canadian-linked talent.
Important schedule note: April 25 was the premiere of the first episode, not a full-season drop. A new episode followed each Friday, making this a weekly mystery rather than an immediate binge.
Disney+: Andor Season 2
Available April 22, 2025
The second and final season of Andor continues Cassian Andor’s story during the four years leading toward Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna returned alongside Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgård and Denise Gough. Ben Mendelsohn and Alan Tudyk were also identified as reprising their Rogue One roles.
Disney+ launched the 12-episode season with three episodes on April 22. After that, three new episodes arrived every Wednesday. Viewers expecting a complete binge therefore had to follow a staggered release schedule.

Because this is the concluding season, viewers who need a refresher should revisit Season 1 before starting. Rogue One provides useful timeline context, but the series stands as its own political science-fiction drama.
Netflix: Havoc and You Season 5
Havoc
Available April 25, 2025
Havoc is a roughly 1-hour-45-minute action film written and directed by Gareth Evans. Tom Hardy plays a compromised police officer who must fight through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s son. Jessie Mei Li, Timothy Olyphant and Forest Whitaker also star.
This is Netflix’s main feature-film choice for the week: a straightforward option for viewers looking for a single action-heavy movie rather than a new series. Its cast and Evans’s involvement make it especially appealing to action-thriller audiences.

You Season 5
Available April 25, 2025
The fifth and final season of the psychological thriller brings Joe Goldberg back for a complete 10-episode binge. Joe has built a quieter life with Kate in New York, but the consequences of his past threaten to catch up with him.

Penn Badgley returns with Charlotte Ritchie, Madeline Brewer, Anna Camp and Griffin Matthews. Based on Caroline Kepnes’s novels, the series is designed for viewers already invested in Joe’s story; newcomers will need to work through four earlier seasons before the finale has its full impact.
The release pattern is the key distinction from Andor: Netflix made all 10 episodes available on April 25 rather than releasing them weekly.
Prime Video: Ash and Étoile
Ash

Ash is an approximately 95-minute science-fiction horror film directed by Flying Lotus. An amnesiac astronaut wakes on a distant planet to discover that the rest of the crew is dead. When a man claiming to be her rescuer appears, she must decide whether he can be trusted.

Eiza González, Aaron Paul, Iko Uwais and Beulah Koale star. Its contained premise and blend of space mystery and horror make it Prime Video’s clearest choice for a one-sitting genre movie.

Étoile
Available April 24, 2025
Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, Étoile follows two major ballet companies—one in New York and one in Paris—as they exchange their leading dancers in an attempt to save their institutions.
The eight-episode comedy-drama stars Luke Kirby, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lou de Laâge, Gideon Glick and David Alvarez. Kirby is from Hamilton, Ontario, while Alvarez is from Montreal, giving the series a visible Canadian connection without making it a Canadian production.
Episodes run approximately 30 minutes, making Étoile the week’s easiest shorter episodic sample. It is also a useful counterpoint to Ash: character-driven performance drama instead of science-fiction horror.

- For the week’s major event: Choose Andor Season 2 on Disney+. It is a major franchise conclusion, but requires following the Wednesday release schedule.
- For a completed binge: Choose You Season 5 on Netflix. All 10 episodes arrived together, although substantial catch-up viewing is required.
- For an action movie: Choose Havoc on Netflix, with Gareth Evans directing and Tom Hardy leading the cast.
- For science-fiction horror: Choose Ash on Prime Video.
- For a weekly mystery: Choose Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue on Crave. Only its first episode arrived on April 25.
- For shorter episodes: Choose Étoile on Prime Video, with episodes of approximately 30 minutes.

Netflix is the most direct choice for viewers who want both You Season 5 and Havoc, as well as a broader rotating catalogue. Prime Video makes more sense if you want both Ash and Étoile or would use other Amazon Prime benefits. Crave is the targeted option for Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, HBO programming, Crave Originals and Canadian content.
Streaming plans, prices, catalogues and bundle terms change. The historical April 2025 roundup reported Crave, Netflix and Prime membership prices from that period, but those figures should not be treated as current. For current terms, check the official signup pages for Crave, Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime. The Disney+ Canada page also displayed Disney+–Crave bundle options in August 2026, but availability and pricing may change.
Finally, a 2025 launch date does not guarantee that every title remains available in Canada today. Check the service’s Canadian catalogue before subscribing, and distinguish a title’s original release date from its current availability.
