Netflix titles did briefly appear inside Apple’s TV app for some users, but that does not establish a permanent, official Netflix integration. Reports from February 2025 described Netflix shows appearing in search, Watchlist, or Continue Watching, sometimes with an option to open Netflix. The behavior reportedly disappeared soon afterward.
The safest conclusion is that Apple and Netflix exposed a limited test or accidental integration. Apple’s current documentation explains how the TV app works with supported video services, while Netflix documents its app on Apple TV hardware—but neither source reviewed here confirms a generally available Netflix-to-Apple-TV-app Watchlist connection.
What actually appeared
“Netflix is now in Apple TV” can describe several different features, and they are not equivalent:
- Search indexing: A Netflix title appears in Apple TV or Siri search and may open the Netflix app.
- Catalog discovery: Apple identifies Netflix as a place to watch a title.
- Watchlist support: A Netflix title can be saved to Apple’s Watchlist alongside content from other supported services.
- Continue Watching: Apple receives enough information from Netflix to show viewing progress or the next episode.
- Playback handoff: Selecting a title opens the correct Netflix program, although playback remains in Netflix rather than inside Apple’s app.
A search result alone is not a unified Watchlist integration. Apple’s own partner documentation distinguishes Universal Search from deeper video-app integrations that can track viewing progress.

What users reported in February 2025
User reports described Netflix shows becoming searchable in the Apple TV app. Some people saw prompts to connect Netflix, while others reported adding Netflix titles to Apple’s Up Next, Continue Watching, or Watchlist rows. In some cases, selecting a title opened the correct Netflix content; in others, it opened only Netflix’s home screen.
Reports also mentioned missing seasons, incomplete metadata, inconsistent links, and major differences between accounts and countries. Many users saw no Netflix integration at all. The feature reportedly vanished shortly afterward. The discussion on Reddit is useful evidence that an experiment or temporary exposure occurred, but it is anecdotal—not a launch announcement.
What Apple officially supports
Apple says the Apple TV app can connect supported video apps and services. Its Watchlist lets users save movies and shows, and Apple documents Watchlist and Continue Watching access across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K, Apple Vision Pro, and supported smart TVs signed in to the same Apple Account. Availability varies by country or region.

Netflix is not named there. That omission does not prove Netflix can never be supported, since the examples may not be exhaustive, but it is not confirmation of a current Netflix integration.
Apple’s documented Watchlist flow on iPhone is to touch and hold a title and choose Add to Watchlist. Supported items can then appear in both Watchlist and Continue Watching. Whether a Netflix item behaves this way depends on Netflix being an officially supported integration in the user’s territory and account—not merely on the title being searchable.

What Netflix officially supports on Apple TV
Netflix has long supported the Netflix app on Apple TV hardware. According to Netflix’s help documentation, the app is available on Apple TV HD fourth generation and later. Setup involves downloading Netflix from the App Store and signing in within the Netflix app.
That is different from Netflix being connected to Apple’s TV app. Netflix’s current Apple TV guidance explains installation, sign-in, sign-out, deletion, and reinstallation. It does not describe synchronizing Netflix’s My List or viewing progress with Apple’s Watchlist and Continue Watching rows.
What this does not mean
- It does not mean Netflix content streams inside Apple TV’s app.
- It does not mean Apple TV+ includes Netflix.
- It does not mean Apple’s Watchlist is the same list as Netflix My List.
- It does not mean every Netflix title, season, or episode is indexed.
- It does not mean buying an Apple TV 4K unlocks Netflix integration.
How to check whether your account has the feature
There is no verified, official setup path for enabling Netflix integration. The following is an availability check based on the behavior users reported, not a guaranteed installation procedure.
On iPhone or iPad
- Open the Apple TV app.
- Search for a Netflix-exclusive title.
- Open the title page and look for Netflix under the available provider or “How to Watch” information.
- Check whether Apple offers Add to Watchlist, an Open in Netflix handoff, or a prompt to connect Netflix.
- After trying the title, check Home → Continue Watching and Watchlist.
Test several titles rather than relying on one result. A single searchable title may reflect catalog indexing, cached metadata, or a regional listing rather than full account-level integration.
On Apple TV hardware
- Install Netflix separately and sign in, if it is not already installed.
- Open the Apple TV app or use Apple TV search.
- Search for a Netflix title and open its result.
- Check whether the result simply launches Netflix or also offers Apple TV Watchlist controls.
- Look in the Apple TV app’s Watchlist and Continue Watching rows after viewing part of an episode.
A meaningful integration would ideally show Netflix as a connected provider, allow titles to be added to Apple’s Watchlist, reflect Netflix viewing progress in Continue Watching, and open the correct episode or resume position in Netflix.

Why Netflix may appear for one user and not another
- Phased testing: Apple or Netflix may expose a feature to only a subset of accounts.
- Server-side activation: Metadata and provider settings can change without a corresponding app update.
- Regional availability: Apple says supported providers and media availability vary by country or region.
- Device differences: iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, macOS, smart-TV apps, and web versions do not necessarily offer identical features.
- Account differences: Apple Account region, Netflix billing country, subscription status, and profile may affect results.
- Profile handling: A household with multiple Netflix profiles may not map cleanly to one Apple Account.
- Incomplete metadata: Some titles may appear without every season, episode, artwork item, or correct deep link.
- Caching: A temporary listing may remain visible after the service has disabled the underlying feature.
These possibilities explain conflicting reports without proving which company caused the February 2025 exposure or why it was removed.

Common failure modes
If Netflix appears only partially, you might see a title but no Watchlist button, a Watchlist entry that never reaches Continue Watching, stale progress, or a link that opens Netflix’s home screen instead of the selected episode. Search may work on an iPhone but not on Apple TV hardware. Removing a title from Apple’s Watchlist should not be assumed to remove it from Netflix My List, and the reverse is also true.
Practical troubleshooting
- Update both the Apple TV and Netflix apps.
- Confirm the Apple Account and Netflix account are being used in the expected region.
- Make sure Netflix is installed and signed in on the device being tested.
- Force-close and reopen both apps.
- Restart the Apple device.
- Search for several Netflix titles.
- Test another Apple device signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Determine whether only search works or whether Watchlist and Continue Watching also work.
Reinstalling Netflix or changing a subscription is unlikely to create an integration that has been withdrawn at the server level. If the behavior disappears across devices, it is more reasonable to treat it as a withdrawn experiment than as a local fault.

Netflix should not be described as part of Apple’s unified Watchlist unless evidence goes beyond isolated search results. Strong confirmation would include:
- Netflix listed as a connected or supported provider.
- Netflix titles consistently addable to Apple’s Watchlist.
- Netflix viewing reflected in Continue Watching.
- Reliable links to the correct Netflix title or episode.
- Availability across more than one isolated account or region.
- A current Apple or Netflix announcement, support page, or other official documentation describing the feature.
Until then, terms such as briefly appeared, limited test, or possible accidental exposure are more accurate than launched.

Alternatives for a cross-service watchlist
If your main goal is to track what to watch across services, Apple’s TV app remains convenient where integrations are supported, but Netflix’s own My List remains the authoritative Netflix-specific list.
Services such as JustWatch and Reelgood can provide broader catalog discovery and watchlist tools. They are separate services, however, and should not be assumed to synchronize Netflix viewing progress with Apple’s Continue Watching queue. Platform interfaces from Roku, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, and individual smart-TV manufacturers offer other forms of cross-service discovery, but their Netflix support also varies.
Verdict
Netflix shows did appear inside Apple’s TV app for some users, and the reports included behavior more advanced than ordinary search. But the available evidence does not verify a permanent, generally available Netflix integration with Apple’s unified Watchlist or Continue Watching system.
For now, distinguish carefully between Netflix on Apple TV hardware, Netflix titles discoverable through Apple search, and Netflix account data integrated into Apple’s Watchlist. Only the first is clearly documented by Netflix, while the second may be region-dependent. The third remains unconfirmed in the official documentation reviewed here.
