Google announced its Best of 2025 Google TV collection on December 2, 2025, highlighting six titles: Superman, Sinners, The Pickup, Reacher, The Last of Us, and Love Island USA. The announcement also promoted a separate 25-day holiday advent calendar.
These were Google TV’s featured selections—not a transparent, industry-wide ranking. Google published no viewing figures, watch-hour totals, methodology, or complete ranking.

Google described the movie selections as films that were new to streaming in 2025. Its announcement presents the six titles under “most watched movies” and “most watched shows,” but does not explain how the selections were calculated. Google’s announcement is therefore best read as a Google TV year-end collection rather than a universal measurement of everything people watched across television and streaming.

Google specifically noted Peacock in connection with Love Island USA and identified Peacock as available only in the United States. That restriction does not mean the show’s availability is identical in other countries.
What does “most watched” mean here?
Google TV is primarily a discovery and aggregation layer. It can surface a film or series and direct viewers to a provider, but the title may still require a subscription, rental, or purchase.
The official announcement does not provide:
- Watch-hour totals or viewer counts
- A definition of whether “watching” means playback, completed viewing, or another activity
- The measurement period or countries included in the calculation
- A methodology or independent audit
- A longer ranking beyond the three featured movies and three featured shows
Consequently, these selections should not be compared directly with Netflix engagement lists, Nielsen measurements, or other industry rankings unless those sources use compatible definitions and datasets.

The advent calendar was a separate seasonal feature announced alongside Best of 2025. It contained 25 holiday movies and shows, with one title revealed for each day of December.

According to 9to5Google’s contemporaneous report, the 2025 calendar was sponsored by Target and began with The Polar Express. Google’s official announcement confirmed the 25-title format but did not publish the complete lineup, so there is no reliable basis here for listing all 25 selections.
How to find Best of 2025 on Google TV
When the promotion was available, Google placed it under the For you tab. The collection was announced for:
- Google TV Streamer (4K)
- Televisions and other devices with Google TV built in
- The Google TV app for Android
- The Google TV app for iOS
- Open Google TV on a supported device or in the mobile app.
- Go to the For you tab.
- Look for the Best of 2025 collection.
- Select a title to see its available provider options.
- Add a title to your watchlist or share it from the mobile app.
If the collection no longer appears, search for an individual title directly. The promotion may have been removed, the app may not have refreshed, or the account and device may be associated with a different region.

Google listed Best of 2025 for Google TV devices and apps in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, and India. The announcement also listed English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese, and Hindi among the supported languages.
This does not mean every title, provider, subscription, or feature was available in every listed market. Availability depends on country, licensing rights, account region, device, and whether a service includes the title in its subscription tier.

At launch, 9to5Google associated Superman and Sinners with HBO Max, and The Pickup and Reacher with Amazon. Those were time-sensitive service associations, not permanent availability guarantees. Streaming catalogues and service branding can change, so check the title page or local provider listings before subscribing.
The same Google announcement mentioned Google TV Freeplay channels such as SNL Vault, The Real Housewives Vault, and American Ninja Warrior. Google’s footnote said those Freeplay channels were available only in the United States; they should not be treated as globally available alternatives.

Is the advent calendar still available?
The calendar was a December 2025 promotion. As of August 2026, the supplied official announcement does not establish that the interactive calendar remains live, and it should not be presented as a currently launching feature.
If it is absent from Google TV, that most likely reflects the end of the seasonal campaign rather than a hardware problem. You can still search for the individual holiday titles, but access will depend on current local streaming, rental, or purchase options.

What to do if a title will not play
A title appearing in Google TV does not guarantee that it is included in a service you already use. Check whether:
- Your subscription includes the title in your country
- The title has moved to another provider
- A rental or purchase is required
- Your Google account or device is set to another region
- The provider’s catalogue differs from its U.S. catalogue
For a missing collection, confirm the account and device region, update the Google TV app if an update is offered, restart the app or device, and check the For you tab again. These are practical troubleshooting suggestions, not steps specifically published by Google for this promotion.
Hardware and service considerations
You do not need to buy hardware merely to browse the collection if the Google TV app is supported in your market. The official Android app is available through Google Play, and the iOS app is listed on the App Store.
A Google TV Streamer (4K) is relevant if you want the Google TV interface on a television without built-in Google TV. It does not unlock the highlighted films and shows for free. A television with Google TV built in may suit someone already shopping for a new set; picture quality, size, price, software support, and warranty matter more than a seasonal 2025 collection alone. The Google TV platform is described at tv.google.
Similarly, do not subscribe to Max, Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, or another service solely because a title was associated with it in December 2025. Verify current local availability and whether the title is included, rentable, or purchasable before paying.
The practical takeaway
Google TV’s 2025 collection featured Superman, Sinners, and The Pickup among its movies, and Reacher, The Last of Us, and Love Island USA among its shows. It was useful as a discovery shelf, but Google did not publish enough data to treat it as an independently verifiable, all-platform popularity ranking. The 25-title advent calendar was a separate December 2025 promotion, and its continued availability in 2026 is not confirmed.
