Samsung TV Plus is a worthwhile free option for anime fans—but it is not a free replacement for Crunchyroll or HIDIVE. In the United States, Samsung’s current channel list includes a substantial group of ad-supported anime channels, from Crunchyroll US and ANIME X HIDIVE to dedicated channels for Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
The important catch is that TV Plus works mainly like free live television: you choose a scheduled channel rather than searching an unlimited anime library and selecting any episode on demand.
What anime channels are on Samsung TV Plus?
Samsung’s U.S. channel list places at least 11 anime-focused entries in its Anime & Gaming category. The exact lineup can change by market, device, and licensing agreement, but the listed channels include:

Why the lineup is notable
Samsung TV Plus is a general free, ad-supported television service, not a dedicated anime platform. Its anime offering is nevertheless unusually recognizable for a television manufacturer’s FAST service—meaning “free ad-supported television.”
The lineup serves several different kinds of viewers:
- Fans of familiar franchises: Dedicated Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure channels make it easy to find recognizable programming without adding another monthly bill.
- Classic-anime viewers: RetroCrush and FilmRise Anime are better suited to catalog, older, and cult programming than to the newest seasonal releases.
- Brand-focused viewers: Crunchyroll US and ANIME X HIDIVE bring major anime distributors into the free FAST environment.
- Casual viewers: Anime All Day and similar channels work well when you want to discover something or leave anime playing in the background.
Crunchyroll US is not the Crunchyroll app
This distinction matters. The Crunchyroll channel on Samsung TV Plus is a curated 24/7 linear channel. It does not unlock the full Crunchyroll subscription catalog, simulcasts, complete seasonal selection, premium features, or the app’s normal on-demand experience.

Crunchyroll describes its free channel as scheduled programming available through partner platforms, including English-dubbed programming and selected subtitled blocks. You generally watch whatever is airing at that moment rather than searching the service for a particular episode.
The same caution applies to ANIME X HIDIVE: its presence does not mean that Samsung TV Plus includes the entire paid HIDIVE catalog. These are branded FAST channels, not free memberships.
What does “free” mean?
Samsung describes TV Plus as free television supported by advertising. An internet connection is required, but Samsung says no additional subscription, fee, or credit card is needed to watch the service. Account requirements can vary with the device’s broader smart-service setup, so treat “no account required” as a device-dependent detail rather than a universal guarantee.

In practical terms, the trade-off is:
- No monthly TV Plus subscription
- Commercial breaks
- Scheduled rather than fully controlled viewing
- A lineup that can change without notice
- Regional and device restrictions
For viewers who prefer legal free entertainment and do not mind ads, that is a reasonable exchange. For anyone expecting a searchable, ad-free anime library, it will feel limited.
How to watch the anime channels
On a Samsung Smart TV
- Connect the TV to the internet.
- Open the Samsung TV Plus app from the TV’s app bar.
- Open the Guide or channel list.
- Find the Anime & Gaming category.
- Select the anime channel you want to watch.
Samsung says the Guide can be opened with the channel control on a Samsung Smart Remote or by pressing GUIDE on a standard remote.
On a Galaxy phone or tablet
- Open or install the Samsung TV Plus app through the Galaxy Store or Google Play.
- Enter the Live section.
- Use the Guide to locate an available anime channel.
In a web browser
Samsung directs viewers to samsungtvplus.com for browser viewing where supported. Samsung TV Plus is also listed for supported Samsung Smart TVs, Galaxy devices, Smart Monitors, projectors, and Family Hub refrigerators. Samsung says Smart TV support includes models released after 2016 in select areas, but not every device or country receives the same channels.

TV Plus is strongest as a complement to a paid service—or as a starting point for someone who only watches anime occasionally. It is a poor primary service for viewers who want simulcasts, the latest seasonal episodes, complete seasons on demand, reliable episode order, offline viewing, or a large searchable catalog.
Crunchyroll’s own channel explanation separates its free linear channel from the full subscription product. Crunchyroll also announced U.S. membership pricing changes in 2026, reinforcing that its paid on-demand service remains a separate offering.
What to do if a channel is missing
If a channel listed by Samsung does not appear on your device, do not assume the service has failed. Possible explanations include regional availability, device compatibility, a recently changed lineup, outdated TV software, or a Guide that has not refreshed.

- Confirm that the device has an internet connection.
- Restart Samsung TV Plus and, if necessary, the device.
- Check the current in-app Guide rather than relying on an old screenshot or article.
- Search the channel by name if the app supports channel search.
- Check Samsung’s current channel list.
- Verify the device’s region and compatibility.
- Update the TV software or app if an update is available.
Samsung warns that channel availability can vary by location and change without notice. A U.S. channel list should not be treated as a global lineup.
Who should use Samsung TV Plus for anime?
It is a good fit if you:
- Want legal anime without another subscription
- Enjoy live television and lean-back viewing
- Are comfortable with advertising
- Like older, familiar, or catalog anime
- Enjoy franchise marathons and casual discovery
- Already own a supported Samsung device
It is not a good fit if you:
- Need the newest seasonal anime or simulcasts
- Want to select any episode immediately
- Require consistent subtitle or dub choices
- Want ad-free viewing
- Need offline downloads, profiles, or advanced parental controls
- Live outside the United States and expect the U.S. lineup to apply
Verdict
Samsung TV Plus is genuinely worth checking for free anime. Its U.S. anime lineup includes a better mix of recognizable franchises, catalog channels, and distributor-branded programming than many viewers may expect from a built-in television service.
But “free anime hub” is more accurate than “free Crunchyroll.” TV Plus gives you scheduled, ad-supported channels—not the full control, catalog depth, or seasonal coverage of a dedicated subscription. Use it for casual viewing, discovery, and familiar series; choose Crunchyroll Premium, HIDIVE, or another on-demand service when you need specific shows, new releases, or complete episode control.
