Predictions and confirmed results
Stephanie Vaquer vs. Jordynne Grace — NXT Women’s Championship
Pre-event prediction: Stephanie Vaquer retains.
Vaquer entered as the champion and had recently won the NXT Women’s Championship, making her the logical favorite. WWE presented the match as a cross-promotional dream contest, with Jordynne Grace challenging for her first WWE championship. Grace earned the opportunity by defeating Giulia in a No. 1 Contender’s Match on the May 6, 2025, episode of NXT.
Grace was a credible upset candidate because of her physical offense, established reputation outside WWE and clear championship objective. The safest forecast was that Vaquer would survive Grace’s power game and keep the title, while a Grace victory would have launched an entirely new championship era.
Result: Stephanie Vaquer defeated Jordynne Grace. WWE reported that Vaquer withstood Grace’s offense and won after hitting the Spiral Tap, retaining the NXT Women’s Championship. The official match page provides the pre-event framing, while WWE’s results recap confirms the finish.
Oba Femi vs. Myles Borne — NXT Championship
Pre-event prediction: Oba Femi retains.
This was the clearest championship prediction on the card. Borne became the challenger by winning a 25-Man Battle Royal on May 6, earning his first NXT Championship opportunity. WWE framed the match as a David-versus-Goliath challenge: Borne had the underdog story, while Femi had the size, power and established champion’s momentum.
Femi had also retained the title in a Triple Threat Match against Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans at Stand & Deliver. A competitive performance from Borne could raise his standing without requiring WWE to end Femi’s reign.
Result: Oba Femi defeated Myles Borne. Femi retained after using multiple Fall From Grace attacks. The official preview explains how Borne earned the opportunity, and WWE’s event recap confirms the result.
Joe Hendry vs. Trick Williams — TNA World Championship
Pre-event prediction: Trick Williams wins, possibly through an opportunistic or controversial finish.
This was the hardest match to call because either outcome could have advanced the WWE–TNA crossover. Joe Hendry was defending the TNA World Championship, while Trick Williams was attempting to become the first WWE Superstar to win that title. Their feud escalated through confrontations and a contract signing on NXT.
A Williams victory was defensible because WWE described the match as a chance for him to make history. At the same time, a Hendry defense would have protected TNA’s champion and allowed the crossover story to continue without changing the title’s home. The most cautious prediction was Williams winning in a way that protected Hendry’s credibility.

Result: Trick Williams defeated Joe Hendry to win the TNA World Championship. WWE described Williams as the first-ever active WWE Superstar to capture the TNA World Championship. This was the event’s most historically significant development. The official match page details the championship stakes and crossover angle.
Sol Ruca vs. Kelani Jordan — NXT Women’s North American Championship
Pre-event prediction: Sol Ruca retains.
Ruca was the safer pick because she entered as champion and had the stronger momentum. Jordan, however, was not a token challenger. Their athletic styles complemented one another, and WWE built the rivalry around counters, movement and competitive exchanges rather than a straightforward experience or size mismatch.

The likely story was a fast-paced match in which Jordan pushed Ruca to the limit but fell short of winning the title.
Result: Sol Ruca defeated Kelani Jordan. Ruca retained after hitting the Super Sol Snatcher once Zaria had been removed from ringside. WWE’s official recap confirms the finish.
Hank Walker, Tank Ledger and Josh Briggs vs. The Culling
Pre-event prediction: Hank Walker, Tank Ledger and Josh Briggs win.
NXT Tag Team Champions Hank Walker and Tank Ledger teamed with Josh Briggs against Shawn Spears, Brooks Jensen and Niko Vance of The Culling. The match had a personal component because Jensen had previously partnered with Briggs. Spears, meanwhile, was presented as trying to reshape NXT through his faction.

The babyface team was the logical prediction: Hank and Tank had championship momentum, while Briggs had a direct reason to oppose Jensen. The Culling’s numbers and faction advantage made interference a likely way to keep the heels protected even if they lost.
Result: Hank Walker, Tank Ledger and Josh Briggs defeated The Culling. The Culling attacked the winners after the match, but Yoshiki Inamura returned and evened the odds. That post-match development allowed the babyfaces to win without completely removing the faction threat.
Tony D’Angelo vs. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo
Pre-event prediction: Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo wins.
This was a storyline-driven match rather than a championship contest. Stacks had been Tony D’Angelo’s Underboss, and the breakdown of their relationship centered on whether Stacks could step out of D’Angelo’s shadow.

- Impressive Display: Whether worn during matches or showcased as a prized possession, this belt makes a bold statement.
- Durable Materials: Crafted with high-quality brass and genuine leather, this belt is built to withstand the rigors of intense wrestling action.
Stacks needed a decisive victory to complete the betrayal and establish himself as an independent threat. Tony remained a plausible pick if WWE wanted to extend the conflict, but the character logic favored Stacks.
Result: Stacks defeated Tony D’Angelo. Luca Crusifino’s return distracted D’Angelo, allowing Stacks to use a low blow and secure the victory. The finish gave Stacks the win while leaving the feud open to further consequences.

What made Battleground 2025 notable?
The event’s defining moment was not one of the two NXT championship defenses. It was Trick Williams winning the TNA World Championship while remaining an active WWE Superstar. That result gave the WWE–TNA relationship a concrete championship consequence rather than limiting the crossover to appearances and confrontations.
The rest of the card largely followed the most logical pre-event outcomes: Vaquer, Femi and Ruca retained their titles; the babyface six-man team defeated The Culling; and Stacks won the personal grudge match. The Hendry–Williams bout was the major exception to a straightforward “champion retains” pattern—and the match where the historical stakes were highest.
