Karate Kid: Legends is currently listed on Netflix in the United States. The 2025 PG-13 action film first opened in U.S. theaters on May 30, 2025, and has since moved through digital and physical home entertainment. It is also currently listed for digital rental or purchase, including through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home.
Streaming catalogs change by country and over time, so “now streaming” should be read as a current U.S. availability status—not a guarantee that the film will remain on Netflix indefinitely.
Where to watch Karate Kid: Legends now
For viewers in the United States, the simplest option is a Netflix subscription: Netflix’s official title page currently lists Karate Kid: Legends as available to stream.
| Viewing option | What it means | Current U.S. status |
|---|---|---|
| Netflix streaming | Watch through the Netflix catalog with an eligible account and supported device. | Currently listed on Netflix |
| Digital rental | Pay for a temporary viewing window through a participating video store. | Currently listed through services including Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home |

What is Karate Kid: Legends about?
The film follows Li Fong, a young kung fu prodigy who moves from Beijing to New York City. After becoming involved in a conflict with a local karate champion, Li prepares for a high-stakes martial-arts tournament.
His training brings together two of the franchise’s most recognizable mentors: Mr. Han, played by Jackie Chan, and Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio. Ben Wang stars as Li Fong.
Sony describes the movie as a new story within the established Karate Kid franchise. Rather than treating kung fu and karate as unrelated parts of the series, the story uses Li’s training to connect the two traditions while bringing Mr. Han and Daniel into the same mentor story.
The main cast
- Ben Wang as Li Fong, the young kung fu prodigy at the center of the story
- Jackie Chan as Mr. Han
- Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso
The film is a Columbia Pictures release from Sony Pictures and is rated PG-13. Netflix categorizes it among family movies, drama, martial-arts movies, and action/adventure.

How the film fits into the Karate Kid franchise
Karate Kid: Legends is designed as a bridge between different eras of the franchise. Mr. Han is associated with the 2010 Karate Kid film starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, while Daniel LaRusso originated in the earlier films played by Ralph Macchio.
Here, Li Fong learns from both characters. The central franchise connection is therefore not simply a cameo: Daniel and Mr. Han serve as the two mentors who help Li combine karate and kung fu as he prepares for the tournament.
The wider franchise includes the original The Karate Kid films, the 2010 film, and the television series Cobra Kai. Netflix describes Cobra Kai as a follow-up to the Karate Kid films, focusing on Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence across six seasons. However, the availability of those earlier titles is separate from the availability of Karate Kid: Legends; viewers should check the current catalog for each film or series rather than assume that every franchise entry is included on Netflix.
Netflix streaming versus buying the movie
Netflix is the most convenient choice if you already subscribe and only want to watch Karate Kid: Legends while it remains in the U.S. catalog. Streaming does not give you a permanent copy, and access may depend on territory, account conditions, device support, and future licensing changes.

A digital rental or purchase is more useful if you do not have Netflix, want to watch through another video store, or prefer not to depend on the film remaining in a subscription catalog. Sony’s home-entertainment page identifies digital destinations including Amazon, Walmart, Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango, DIRECTV, Xfinity, and Sony Pictures Core. Retailers may offer different formats, prices, rental periods, and playback restrictions, so check those details before paying.
For collectors: the 4K and Blu-ray release
Sony confirms that Karate Kid: Legends is available in physical home-entertainment formats, including 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. If you want to keep the film available independently of Netflix’s catalog, the Karate Kid: Legends 4K UHD Blu-ray is the most direct premium physical-media option supported by the film’s official home-entertainment information.
A disc purchase requires compatible equipment, such as a 4K Blu-ray player for the 4K edition. It is not required to watch the film on Netflix, and buying the disc does not automatically provide Netflix access or a digital entitlement unless the specific package says so.
Audio, subtitles, and accessibility
Netflix’s listing includes English original audio, English audio description, Latin American Spanish audio, and English and Latin American Spanish subtitles. The options displayed to an individual viewer can vary by country, account, device, and app version, so check the audio and subtitle menu on the playback screen for the exact choices available to you.
