Mariah Carey performed a prerecorded version of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” to open Netflix’s first NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25, 2024. It aired before the Kansas City Chiefs–Pittsburgh Steelers matchup. Here’s the official viewing path, the replay warning, and the key difference between this taped segment and the event’s live broadcast.
Mariah Carey opened Netflix’s first NFL Christmas Gameday on December 25, 2024, with a prerecorded performance of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The segment aired before the Kansas City Chiefs played the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although the broadcast itself was live, Carey’s musical performance was taped in advance—not a live vocal performance during the game.
Where to watch Mariah Carey’s performance
The safest viewing route is Netflix Tudum’s official recap of the performance, which includes Netflix’s viewing link under a “Watch her performance here” prompt. Search Netflix Tudum for its December 25, 2024 Mariah Carey and NFL Christmas Gameday recap, or search Netflix for the event title Christmas Gameday: Chiefs vs. Steelers.
Availability may have changed since the original broadcast. NFL help guidance says Christmas games remain available on Netflix only for a limited replay period: up to three hours after each game ends in the United States and up to 24 hours after each game ends in other countries. The exact result can also depend on geography, licensing, and the Netflix plan available in your market. Check the official Tudum page and your current Netflix catalog rather than assuming that the complete broadcast is still playable.

Netflix’s event page has also displayed plan and licensing restrictions, including a notice that the title was unavailable on an ad-supported plan at the time of checking. That is a current catalog observation, not a permanent rule; Netflix can change availability and plan eligibility.
What song did Mariah Carey sing?
Carey performed “All I Want for Christmas Is You”—the full title of the song often shortened in search queries to “All I Want.” The holiday classic first appeared in 1994 on Merry Christmas, Carey’s fourth studio album and her first Christmas album.
Netflix’s recap noted that the song had accumulated 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by December 9, 2024, and had returned to the top of Billboard’s Holiday 100. Those chart figures refer to that specific 2024 reporting date and should not be treated as a current chart position.

When did the performance air?
The performance was part of Netflix’s inaugural NFL Christmas Gameday on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. The pregame programming began at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, with Chiefs–Steelers scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Eastern. Carey’s taped appearance opened the broadcast before that first game.
The Christmas doubleheader continued with the Baltimore Ravens against the Houston Texans at 4:30 p.m. Eastern. Beyoncé later performed live at halftime of Ravens–Texans, but that was a separate part of the event and not the Mariah Carey opening segment.
Was Mariah Carey’s NFL Christmas performance live?
No. It was prerecorded, or taped. Netflix Tudum and TVLine both describe the Carey segment that way. It was presented as the show-opening musical number within a live Christmas sports broadcast, which is why some listings or social posts may loosely call it a “live” performance. That wording refers to the broadcast setting, not to Carey singing live at that moment.

Do not confuse it with later Netflix Christmas broadcasts
Carey’s appearance belongs specifically to the 2024 NFL Christmas Gameday. Netflix’s 2025 Christmas event had Kelly Clarkson opening with “Underneath the Tree,” not Mariah Carey. Netflix has also announced different Christmas matchups for 2026, including Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos. Those are separate broadcasts and do not replace or alter the identity of Carey’s 2024 performance.

Merry Christmas by Mariah Carey
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” comes from Carey’s Merry Christmas. For a physical copy, look for the Mariah Carey Merry Christmas 30th Anniversary vinyl, including anniversary and picture-disc editions when available. A Merry Christmas 30th Anniversary CD is the more practical option for listeners who prefer a standard audio disc or do not have a turntable.
Edition names, sellers, prices, and stock vary, especially for limited vinyl pressings. Buying the album gives you the music—not access to Netflix’s NFL broadcast or the video performance.
