Regional, Freevee, sports, and rent-or-buy listings were not universal Prime membership additions.
This guide records the announced or listed October 2024 schedule. Prime Video availability changes, so the historical release date should not be treated as confirmation that a title remains included today.
Key takeaways
- October 1, 2024 was the major US catalog-refresh date, adding complete or multi-season libraries including Castle, According to Jim, Saved by the Bell, and The Unit.
- The headline Prime Video premieres were The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 and House of Spoils on October 3, Citadel: Diana on October 10, The Devil’s Hour season 2 on October 18, and Like a Dragon: Yakuza and Canary Black on October 24.
- Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End arrived on October 31, giving horror and thriller viewers a late-month option.
- The schedule also included live sports such as Thursday Night Football, NWSL, ONE Championship, and PBC; those events should not be confused with scripted Prime Video premieres.
- Availability varied by country and entitlement: some listings involved Freevee, selected territories, theaters, or rent-or-buy access rather than the US Prime membership catalog.
What was new on Prime Video in October 2024?
For the US, everything new on Prime Video in October 2024 included The Legend of Vox Machina season 3, House of Spoils, Citadel: Diana, Brothers, The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, The Devil’s Hour season 2, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, Canary Black, and Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End. October 1 also brought a substantial library refresh, while sports listings and Freevee titles appeared separately in contemporary release schedules.
This is a historical US-oriented release guide, not a statement of what remains available today. Prime Video catalogs change, and a title’s October 2024 date does not guarantee that the title is still included with a Prime membership. The TV Guide October 2024 release calendar, TechRadar’s October schedule, and Tom’s Guide’s combined Prime Video and Freevee list used different regional and entitlement labels, so check the title page before watching.

The full October 1 slate also included the James Bond, Star Trek, Santa Claus, Scooby-Doo, Vacation Friends, and Think Like a Man titles listed by the contemporary schedules. ComicBook.com described the Bond addition as 25 James Bond feature films in 2024, but the figure described the October 1 addition and should not be read as a guarantee that all 25 films remained Prime-included afterward or were available in every country. See the ComicBook.com October 2024 Prime Video list for the contemporaneous Bond and catalog details.
What was added to Prime Video on each date?
The following calendar separates scripted releases and catalog additions from sports. Dates reflect the researched 2024 schedules and primarily describe the US listing unless a regional qualification is stated.
| Date | Scripted, film, or catalog additions | Sports or other programming |
|---|---|---|

| October 30 | Buy it Now season 1, listed as US-only | — |
| October 31 | Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End | Thursday Night Football |
The schedule included titles from different release categories. A film premiere, a returning season, a library addition, a live event, a Freevee listing, and a rent-or-buy title are not interchangeable, even when a publication uses “on Prime” as shorthand.
Which October 2024 releases were best for horror and Halloween?
Horror viewers had the deepest reason to browse the October 1 catalog refresh, followed by new releases on October 3 and October 31.

- New October premieres: House of Spoils, The Boogeyman, The Diary, and Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End.
- Catalog horror: Doctor Sleep, Jeepers Creepers 2, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Monster House, The Return of the Living Dead, The Silence of the Lambs, The Thing, and The Witch.
- Seasonal family viewing: Frosty the Snowman, It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, My Adventures with Santa, and Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.
The TechRadar release roundup and TV Guide’s calendar both reflect how much of the month’s browsing appeal came from catalog films rather than only new originals.
What should action, crime, and thriller viewers watch?
Action and crime highlights included Citadel: Diana, Monkey Man, Canary Black, and Like a Dragon: Yakuza, supported by a substantial October 1 film refresh.
- Newer choices: Citadel: Diana, Monkey Man, Canary Black, and Like a Dragon: Yakuza.
- Crime and thriller catalog: Animal Kingdom, Behind Enemy Lines, Deepwater Horizon, Ex Machina, Hacksaw Ridge, Lucy, Money Monster, Snatch, The Raid: Redemption, The Raid 2, The Usual Suspects, and Valkyrie.
- Franchise viewing: the October 1 list included 25 James Bond feature films according to ComicBook.com, along with selected Star Trek films such as The Motion Picture – The Director’s Edition, The Voyage Home, The Undiscovered Country, Generations, Insurrection, and Nemesis.
Because franchise rights move frequently, the James Bond and Star Trek additions were historical catalog entries, not permanent Prime Video benefits.
Which October releases suited animation, fantasy, and family viewing?
Family and animation choices ranged from the returning adult-oriented fantasy series The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 to older children’s films and family comedies.

October 2024 sports listings included Thursday Night Football, NWSL matches, ONE Fight Night, and PBC programming.

|---|---|---|
| Thursday Night Football | October 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 | Live sports programming, not a scripted series premiere |
| NWSL on Prime Video | October 4, 11, and 18 | Live soccer listings |
| ONE Fight Night on Prime Video | October 4 | Live combat-sports event |

Which titles were regional, Freevee, or otherwise limited?
Not every title in an October 2024 Prime Video and Freevee roundup was a US Prime-included title. Regional and entitlement distinctions were especially important for The Office Australia, Beyond Black Beauty, and Like a Dragon: Yakuza.

- The Office Australia: Tom’s Guide specifically marked the October 18 listing as unavailable in the US.
- Beyond Black Beauty season 1: the October 15 listing identified the US and UK rather than a worldwide release.
- Like a Dragon: Yakuza: Tom’s Guide listed the US and EU on October 24, followed by worldwide availability on October 25.
- Freevee and other labels: contemporary schedules combined Prime Video and Freevee programming, and some listings may have referred to rent-or-buy availability rather than inclusion with a Prime membership.
- International announcements: Amazon’s regional announcements, including Amazon Japan’s October 2024 Prime Video announcement, should not be treated as proof of US availability.
The safest interpretation is title-level verification: open the listing from the relevant country, look for the Prime membership badge, and check whether the title is labeled Freevee, rental, purchase, channel subscription, or live event.
How should you use this October 2024 release list now?
Use the calendar as a record of what was announced or listed for October 2024, not as a current availability database. If a title is important, search for the title in the US Prime Video app or website and confirm the access label before assuming that the title is included.
- Search the exact title, including its season number where relevant.
- Confirm that the country or territory is the United States.
- Check whether the page says Included with Prime, Freevee, rent, buy, channel, or live event.
- For sports, verify the event date and local broadcast or blackout information.
- For older catalog films, expect licensing changes even when the October 1 addition was reported by multiple outlets.
Frequently Asked Questions
What was new on Prime Video in October 2024?
Everything new on Prime Video in October 2024 included major releases such as The Legend of Vox Machina season 3, House of Spoils, Citadel: Diana, The Devil’s Hour season 2, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, Canary Black, and Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End. October 1 also brought large TV and movie catalog additions.
Are the October 2024 Prime Video titles still available?
No. The October 2024 schedule was historical, and Prime Video licensing changes over time. A title listed in October 2024 may no longer be included with a Prime membership, may have moved to Freevee or another service, or may now require rent or purchase.
Was The Office Australia available on Prime Video in the US in October 2024?
The Office Australia was specifically marked unavailable in the US in the researched October 2024 schedule. Other titles also had country-specific dates, including Beyond Black Beauty and Like a Dragon: Yakuza, so availability depended on territory.
What sports were on Prime Video in October 2024?
October 2024 sports listings included Thursday Night Football on October 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31; NWSL on October 4, 11, and 18; ONE Fight Night on October 4; and PBC on October 19. Sports listings are live events and should be checked separately from the on-demand catalog.
The Bottom Line
For the US, October 2024’s most important Prime Video additions were The Legend of Vox Machina season 3, House of Spoils, Citadel: Diana, The Devil’s Hour season 2, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, and Apocalypse Z. October 1 supplied the larger catalog story, with major TV libraries and a broad film refresh. Regional availability and membership entitlement varied, so the historical schedule should not be used as proof of what Prime Video includes today.
