The new Demon Slayer anime movie reveal spells bad news for streaming only in the historical 2025 sense: Infinity Castle I was theatrical-only that year. The first trilogy film began streaming on Crunchyroll on July 28, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. PT, with regional exceptions, so it is not currently blocked from streaming.
The headline was justified when Crunchyroll confirmed that the movie would not reach its streaming service during 2025. The story has since changed: the theatrical window ended as the current viewing story, and legal at-home options are now available.

Key takeaways
- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle I was intentionally kept off streaming during 2025, according to a September 2025 statement from Crunchyroll executive Mitchel Berger.
- Infinity Castle I began streaming on Crunchyroll on July 28, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. PT, although availability varies by territory.
- The official announcement described Crunchyroll availability as worldwide except Japan and Mainland China; viewers should check local access and language options.
- In select territories, including North America, viewers can also buy the film digitally through Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, or Fandango.
- The theatrical-first strategy coincided with a reported $70 million North American opening and a $132.1 million global opening weekend in 2025.
- Infinity Castle I is the first film in an Infinity Castle trilogy, not a single movie that completes the entire Demon Slayer ending.
Is Demon Slayer Infinity Castle streaming yet?
Yes. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle I is streaming on Crunchyroll as of July 28, 2026. The official announcement gave the launch time as 8:00 a.m. PT, and the current Crunchyroll title page continues to list the film for streaming.
The answer needs a geographic qualification: the official announcement described the release as worldwide except Japan and Mainland China. A viewer in another country should confirm that the title appears in the local Crunchyroll catalog before subscribing or assuming that the same language options are available everywhere.

Why did Demon Slayer Infinity Castle take so long to stream?
Infinity Castle I was deliberately treated as a theatrical event during 2025 rather than being released simultaneously on a subscription service. In a September 2025 report, Popverse quoted Mitchel Berger, Crunchyroll’s executive vice president of Global Commerce, saying: “Go see [Demon Slayer Infinity Castle] in the theater because the theater is the only place you’re going to be able to see this film in 2025.”
Berger’s statement is the clearest explanation for the 2025 blackout: viewers who wanted to see the film that year had to use a cinema. The 2025 theatrical-only report should now be read as historical reporting, not as a current availability notice.
The delay also protected a premium cinema window before the film entered the subscription-streaming ecosystem. That is an inference from the release timing, Berger’s statement, and the film’s box-office performance—not a separately stated Crunchyroll explanation of its commercial strategy.
How successful was the theatrical release?
The theatrical-first approach arrived alongside unusually strong opening results. According to The Associated Press (2025), based on Sunday estimates from Comscore, Infinity Castle opened to an estimated $70 million in North America. AP reported that result as the biggest domestic opening ever for an anime film, ahead of Pokémon: The First Movie, which opened to $31 million in 1999.

AP also reported a $132.1 million global opening weekend and a $177.8 million global total across North America and 49 international markets for the reported opening frame. These figures help explain why keeping the movie out of streaming during 2025 could support the film’s event status, but the figures do not establish a universal or official theatrical-to-streaming window for anime.
Where can you watch Demon Slayer Infinity Castle legally?
The main legal home-viewing option is a Crunchyroll subscription stream, subject to territory. Select territories, including North America, also have a one-time digital-purchase option through several named retailers. The official Demon Slayer announcement identifies Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, and Fandango as purchase outlets.
| Option | Access model | Availability | Best suited to | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crunchyroll | Subscription streaming | Streaming began July 28, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. PT | Viewers who want at-home access through a streaming service | The official worldwide statement excludes Japan and Mainland China; local catalogs vary |
| Apple TV | One-time digital purchase | Select territories, including North America | Viewers who prefer transactional digital ownership or access | Retailer availability and terms depend on territory |
| Prime Video | One-time digital purchase | Select territories, including North America | Viewers who already use the retailer’s video library | Check the local listing before buying |
| Google Play | One-time digital purchase | Select territories, including North America | Viewers using Google’s video ecosystem | Purchase rights are governed by retailer terms |
| YouTube | One-time digital purchase | Select territories, including North America | Viewers who want the title in a YouTube account library | Availability is not identical in every country |
| Fandango | One-time digital purchase | Select territories, including North America | Viewers using Fandango’s digital catalog | Confirm local availability and purchase conditions |
A digital purchase is not necessarily the same thing as owning an unrestricted physical copy. The official digital-information page explains that digital access is provided under a limited license and directs customers to the applicable retailer terms.
Is the movie still in theaters?
The original theatrical window is over as the main answer to the streaming question, although the official Crunchyroll Store recorded a limited theatrical return beginning March 6, 2026. Theater schedules are local and change quickly, so viewers should not assume that Infinity Castle I is still screening everywhere on August 13, 2026.

A cinema showing remains a different experience from the Crunchyroll stream: the theatrical release offers a large-screen event presentation, while streaming and digital purchase offer more convenient at-home access. A local theater listing is the only reliable way to verify a remaining screening.
Is Infinity Castle one movie or a trilogy?
Infinity Castle I is the first film in an Infinity Castle trilogy. The first movie begins the concluding storyline inside Muzan Kibutsuji’s domain, with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke confronting the Twelve Kizuki, but it does not adapt the entire ending in one feature.
That distinction matters when deciding whether to wait for “the whole movie.” The current streaming release answers the availability question for the first installment only; it does not mean that all three Infinity Castle films are available together.
Does Demon Slayer Infinity Castle have an English dub?
The official streaming announcement lists Japanese audio with English subtitles alongside multiple dubbed or voiced-language options. Exact audio and subtitle choices can vary by market, so check the language menu on the local Crunchyroll title page rather than assuming that every territory has the same dub.

What changed from 2025 to 2026?
| Period | Viewer access | What the release strategy meant |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 theatrical window | Theater was the only stated way to see the film during 2025 | The film was positioned as a cinema event and was not on Crunchyroll during that year |
| March 6, 2026 limited return | Some theaters received a limited theatrical re-release | Screenings were temporary and location-dependent |
| July 28, 2026 onward | Crunchyroll streaming began at 8:00 a.m. PT; select territories also received digital purchase options | The streaming blackout ended, subject to regional availability |
For that reason, the headline “New Demon Slayer Anime Movie Reveal Spells Bad News for Streaming” is accurate only as a description of the 2025 reveal and theatrical strategy. It is misleading if it suggests that Infinity Castle I remains unavailable now. The current answer is that streaming started on July 28, 2026.

Viewers catching up before Infinity Castle I can look for earlier Demon Slayer releases such as Mugen Train, the Mugen Train Arc, Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. Those are companion releases, not an Infinity Castle Blu-ray or DVD confirmed by the research for this article.
Official franchise merchandise includes figures, apparel, puzzles, plush, acrylic standees, pins, and home goods. Fans specifically searching for a Demon Slayer Infinity Castle figure may encounter character collectibles such as an Akaza Vibration Stars figure, but marketplace stock, price, seller, and authenticity should be checked separately. A shopping result should not be treated as proof that the item is an official product or that it is currently available.
The safest buying rule is to distinguish official merchandise from unverified marketplace listings and counterfeit goods. Availability and prices can change, and no specific Amazon listing or affiliate relationship has been independently verified for this article.
