The charity match benefited Sentebale and attracted Netflix-related cameras one day after Netflix announced a professional-polo series from Archewell Productions.
The date is important because the strongest available evidence does not verify a new joint Florida visit in August 2026. The event most credibly associated with the headline was the 2024 charity match, followed by the documentary series Polo and later reporting about a separate scripted polo project.
Key takeaways
- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s documented joint Florida appearance took place in Wellington on April 12, 2024, not during a newly verified August 2026 visit.
- Harry played in the Royal Salute Polo Challenge for Sentebale, while Meghan attended and Netflix-related cameras followed the event.
- Netflix announced the polo project on April 11, 2024, one day before the charity match.
- Polo is a five-episode Netflix documentary series about elite players competing in the U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida.
- A 2026 scripted polo drama reported in the press is separate from the nonfiction documentary Polo.
Why did Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visit Florida for a polo game amid Netflix news?
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were in Wellington, Florida, on April 12, 2024, for the Royal Salute Polo Challenge, where Harry played and Meghan attended. The charity match benefited Sentebale and attracted Netflix-related cameras one day after Netflix announced a professional-polo series from Archewell Productions.
The appearance became news because the timing connected a real polo event with a newly announced Netflix production. The Associated Press report on the Wellington charity match said Harry, Meghan, and Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras were followed by a camera crew connected with the planned series.

What happened at the Wellington polo match?
Prince Harry participated in the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Wellington, Florida, on April 12, 2024. Meghan Markle attended the event, but the available reporting distinguishes her attendance from Harry’s participation as a player.
The match raised support for Sentebale, the charity associated with Harry’s work. Wellington is also the location of the U.S. Open Polo Championship, the professional competition that became the main setting for the Netflix documentary.
The presence of cameras did not independently establish that every moment of the charity match would appear in the finished program. The safely supported point is that Netflix-related filming was observed around the event, according to the AP report.
Was the Florida polo game filmed for Netflix?
The Florida event was connected to Netflix’s polo production, but the available evidence does not establish that the entire match was filmed for, or ultimately included in, the finished series. AP reported that a camera crew connected to the upcoming Netflix polo miniseries followed Harry, Meghan, and Nacho Figueras.
Netflix had announced the project on April 11, 2024, one day before the Wellington appearance. Netflix’s official announcement said the polo series would be filmed primarily at the U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington and would offer “unprecedented access to the world of professional polo.”

Claims about private conversations, filming permissions, security arrangements, or the couple’s motives are not established by the supplied reporting.
What is Harry and Meghan’s Netflix polo show called?
Harry and Meghan’s Netflix polo show is called Polo. Netflix’s official title information identifies Polo as a five-episode documentary series following elite global players competing in the U.S. Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida.
The documentary focuses on the sport rather than presenting Harry and Meghan as its central competitors. Netflix describes the series as an “exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced and glamorous world of Polo,” with attention to rivalries, training, personal pressures, and the work required to compete at the highest level. That description is Netflix’s characterization, not an independent review.
Archewell Productions executive-produced the project with Harry and Meghan, while Boardwalk Pictures produced it, according to Netflix’s official materials. Viewers looking for the Polo documentary on Netflix’s Media Center can confirm the series’ official format and synopsis; Netflix also maintains an official catalog listing for Polo. Catalog availability and language options can vary by country.
How is the documentary different from the later polo drama?
The later project reported in 2026 is a separate scripted drama, not a second name for Netflix’s documentary Polo. The distinction matters because both projects involve the couple, Netflix, and the world of polo, while their formats and reported development dates differ.

What happened to Harry and Meghan’s Netflix deal?
The April 2024 announcement placed the two shows within Harry and Meghan’s multiyear overall deal with Netflix. In August 2025, Variety reported that the relationship had been extended through a multi-year first-look deal via Archewell Productions.
An overall deal and a first-look deal are not interchangeable terms. The 2025 reporting should therefore be described as a change or extension to a first-look arrangement, rather than as proof that the couple retained an exclusive overall agreement on the original terms.
Variety’s 2026 report included disputed insider accounts about the condition of the Netflix relationship and a Netflix spokesperson’s rejection of some of the article’s characterizations. Those claims and responses are reported positions, not independently established facts. The 2025 Variety report on the first-look arrangement and Variety’s 2026 report on the disputed partnership accounts should be read with that distinction in mind.
