Spoilers for every episode of Squid Game Season 3: The final season has three games—Hide and Seek, Jump Rope, and Sky Squid Game. Its decisive rule is in the last competition: a death before the round-start button is pressed does not count. That technicality allows Gi-hun to sacrifice himself and leave Jun-hee’s baby, Player 222, as the winner.
Spoiler warning: This article contains complete spoilers for all six episodes of Squid Game Season 3, including the deaths of major characters, the final game, and the identity of the winner.
Squid Game Season 3 has three principal games: Hide and Seek, Jump Rope, and Sky Squid Game. They are played in that order. The first tests deception and divided loyalties, the second tests timing and balance, and the final game turns the familiar Squid Game court into a series of lethal elevated towers.
The third season premiered globally on June 27, 2025, and is the planned final season. It begins after the failed uprising at the end of Season 2: Gi-hun is back inside the competition, while the Front Man has regained control. Netflix’s official season announcement confirms both the premiere date and the season’s final status: Netflix’s Season 3 announcement.

Quick answer: the Season 3 games in order
- Hide and Seek: Players are divided into Hiders and Seekers. Hiders must hide or escape; each Seeker must eliminate at least one Hider to survive.
- Jump Rope: Players cross a raised walkway while jumping over a giant rotating rope within 20 minutes.
- Sky Squid Game: Players advance across square, triangle, and circle towers by eliminating someone on each tower. The final round’s button rule determines the winner.
Netflix’s official guide to the games identifies these as the three main competitions of the final season.
1. Hide and Seek
How players are assigned to teams
Before the game begins, each player chooses a large gumball from a waiting room. The gumballs are split between two colors:
- Blue: Hider
- Red: Seeker
The assignment is not entirely permanent at first. A player can swap teams with someone from the opposing side, but only if both players agree. That rule creates an immediate strategic choice: a player may prefer the relative safety of hiding, the active role of seeking, or a team change that protects an ally.
The arena, equipment, and time limit
The two teams enter a large maze and have 30 minutes to complete their objectives. Hiders receive keys that can open doors in the maze. Seekers receive decorative knives, which function as the weapons of elimination within the show’s fictional rules.
What Hiders must do
Hiders have two possible ways to survive:
- Remain concealed until the 30-minute game ends; or
- Use their keys to locate an exit door and escape the maze.
That second option is important. Hiders are not limited to sitting quietly and hoping not to be found. They must weigh the risks of moving through the maze for an exit against the danger of being discovered by a Seeker.
What Seekers must do
Seekers have a stricter condition: each Seeker must find and eliminate at least one Hider. A Seeker who fails to eliminate an opposing player is killed instead. In other words, a Seeker cannot simply stay alive, avoid danger, and wait for the clock to run out. Survival requires a successful elimination.
This makes the game asymmetric. Hiders are rewarded for concealment or escape, while Seekers are forced to take action. A Seeker who finds no one has effectively lost even if no Hider has found them.
Who dies and how the game changes Gi-hun
Thirty-five players are eliminated during Hide and Seek, leaving 25 competitors. The round also supplies the season’s most important emotional turning point.

Jun-hee is badly injured, including a serious ankle injury, and is unable to continue as a normal participant. Yong-sik is killed by his mother, Geum-ja, as she tries to protect Jun-hee and the newborn. Geum-ja later dies by suicide, but not before asking Gi-hun to protect Jun-hee and her baby.
That request helps restore Gi-hun’s sense of responsibility and humanity. Hide and Seek therefore does more than reduce the player count: it establishes the moral question that carries into the final two games—whether the people inside the competition can still choose compassion when the rules reward betrayal and killing.
Hide and Seek in plain English
This is not ordinary hide-and-seek. The teams have different objectives and equipment, the Hiders can either hide or escape, and every Seeker must secure a kill within the 30-minute round or be killed themselves.
2. Jump Rope
The objective and setting
Jump Rope takes place on a raised walkway or platform. Players must travel from one side to the other using a single route. Unlike the Glass Bridge from Season 1, there is no choice between multiple panels or paths. The challenge is not guessing which route is safe; it is maintaining rhythm, balance, and forward momentum.

Young-hee operates one end, while her counterpart, Chul-su, operates the other. Contestants must jump over the rope as they move across the platform. A large gap in the walkway makes a missed jump or fall potentially fatal under the game’s rules.
The 20-minute rule
Players have 20 minutes to cross. They must avoid being swept from the platform by the rotating rope and reach the other side before time expires.
Rank #3
The game’s stated rules are relatively simple, but the physical demands are severe. Players cannot choose a safer lane or wait indefinitely for another contestant to go first. Every pause affects the time available to everyone behind them, while every jump has to be synchronized with the moving obstacle.
Why Gi-hun must carry the baby
Jun-hee cannot complete the crossing normally after giving birth and suffering her ankle injury during Hide and Seek. She asks Gi-hun to protect her newborn by carrying the baby across the walkway.

Jun-hee realizes that his attempt to go back could put both Gi-hun and the baby at risk. She steps from the platform and dies, ensuring that Gi-hun can continue with the child.
At first, the surviving competitors believe that eight players remain. The guards then reveal that there are actually nine: the VIPs have registered Jun-hee’s newborn as Player 222. This preserves the baby’s eligibility and share of the prize, turning an infant who was never a conventional contestant into the competition’s final participant.
Jump Rope in plain English
It is a timed platform crossing. Everyone follows one fixed route, jumps over a giant rotating rope, and tries to reach the end within 20 minutes. Its rules are easier to state than Hide and Seek’s, but its central obstacle is unforgiving—and Gi-hun’s attempt to carry Player 222 makes the crossing the season’s defining act of protection.
3. Sky Squid Game
The three towers
Sky Squid Game is the final competition of the entire series. It reimagines the traditional Squid Game court vertically, using three elevated towers shaped like its familiar geometric sections:

- Triangle tower
- Circle tower
Players begin on the first tower and must progress through all three. The game is not won merely by reaching the next structure. To advance, the participants must push one or more competitors off the current tower—in practical terms, at least one participant must be eliminated on each tower.

The button and countdown rules
The first tower starts differently from the other two. On the second and third towers, someone must press a button on the ground to officially begin the round and activate its countdown.
The technical detail that matters most is this: a death before the button is pressed does not count as the required elimination for that round. If the players fail to eliminate someone after the round has officially started and the countdown expires, everyone in that round is eliminated.
This distinction between an ordinary death and an official game elimination is what makes the ending possible. The timing of the button press is not a minor formality; it determines whether a death satisfies the rules.

The final three participants
At the beginning of the third tower, the remaining participants are:
- Myung-gi
- Gi-hun
- Player 222, Jun-hee’s baby
Myung-gi wants to kill the baby and claim the prize. Gi-hun fights to protect Player 222. During the struggle, Myung-gi falls, but no one has pressed the button to start the third round. Because the round has not officially begun, Myung-gi’s death does not satisfy the tower’s elimination requirement.
How Gi-hun makes the baby the winner
After Myung-gi falls, Gi-hun faces three choices:
- Kill the baby and win the competition himself;
- Do nothing and allow both himself and the baby to be eliminated when the rules take effect; or
- Give up his own life so Player 222 can survive and win.
Gi-hun chooses the third option. He presses the button in a way that ends his own life, leaving Player 222 as the winner. The baby wins the competition and inherits the 4.56 billion won prize.
Afterward, the Front Man takes the baby to Jun-ho and transfers the prize to the child. Netflix’s explanation of the ending presents Player 222 as a symbol of the future generation—and Gi-hun’s sacrifice as proof that he has recovered the conscience the games tried to destroy. Sky Squid Game in plain English
Players must move across three high towers—square, triangle, and circle—and eliminate someone on each one. On the second and third towers, a button officially starts the round and its countdown. Since Myung-gi dies before the third round begins, his fall does not count; Gi-hun then sacrifices himself so the baby can win.

| Game | What makes it difficult | Rule complexity |
|---|---|---|
| Jump Rope | One route, a rotating rope, a large gap, and a 20-minute limit. | Lowest stated complexity; primarily a test of timing and physical execution. |
| Hide and Seek | Two teams have different equipment, objectives, and survival conditions. | Most asymmetric. |
| Sky Squid Game | Players must advance through three towers, eliminate someone on each, and observe the button and countdown rules. | Most technically consequential. |
Jump Rope is the simplest to explain, although not necessarily the easiest to survive. Hide and Seek is the most uneven because Hiders and Seekers are playing different versions of the same round. Sky Squid Game has the most consequential technical rules because the button determines whether an elimination officially counts—and that detail decides who wins the series.
Can you play a Squid Game game at home?
Yes, but licensed tabletop products are adaptations for entertainment, not replicas of the televised death games. Their rules, components, and objectives should be judged by their own rulebooks rather than inferred from the show.
For fans who want a physical activity connected to the franchise, a Squid Game board game or other licensed tabletop product is the most direct option. The available licensed products include tabletop games and collectibles associated with the series. Official merchandise also includes items such as marbles sets, Young-hee products, puzzles, apparel, toys, and other collectibles; stock, price, and regional availability can change.
There is also a Zombicide: Squid Game Expansion for players who already own Zombicide: 2nd Edition. It is an expansion rather than a complete standalone game, and it should not be described as reproducing Season 3’s exact rules. Its appeal is a more elaborate licensed board-game experience using Squid Game characters, locations, equipment, and missions.
Is there going to be a Squid Game Season 4?
No. Season 3 is presented as the definitive planned finale, and the series is not expected to return for a fourth season. The final episode closes the original competition’s story with Player 222 as the winner and Gi-hun’s sacrifice as the decisive final act. Netflix’s official ending coverage describes the conclusion and its meaning.
Frequently Asked Questions

Hide and Seek, Jump Rope, and Sky Squid Game. They are played in that order and make up the three principal games of Season 3.
What are the rules of Hide and Seek?
Hiders can survive by staying hidden until the 30-minute round ends or by finding an exit with their keys. Seekers must eliminate at least one Hider or they are killed.
How does Jump Rope work in Season 3?
Players have 20 minutes to cross a raised walkway while jumping over a giant rotating rope operated by Young-hee and Chul-su. There is only one route, and falling from the platform can be fatal.
Why does Gi-hun sacrifice himself in Sky Squid Game?
On the second and third towers, a player must press a button to officially start the round. Myung-gi falls before the button is pressed, so his death does not count as the required elimination. Gi-hun then sacrifices himself, leaving Player 222 as the winner.
Who wins Squid Game Season 3?
Player 222, Jun-hee’s newborn baby, wins the competition and inherits the 4.56 billion won prize.
The Bottom Line
The three Season 3 games are Hide and Seek, Jump Rope, and Sky Squid Game. Hide and Seek requires Hiders to hide or escape while every Seeker must make a kill; Jump Rope is a 20-minute crossing over a rotating rope; and Sky Squid Game requires an elimination on three geometric towers. The final button rule means Myung-gi’s pre-round death does not count, allowing Gi-hun to sacrifice himself and make Jun-hee’s baby—Player 222—the winner of the 4.56 billion won prize.
