This is the live-action television series, not the much longer animated ONE PIECE series. Season 2 is designed as a direct continuation of Netflix’s adaptation of the East Blue material and moves the story toward the Alabasta storyline.
What story does Season 2 cover?
Season 2 begins after the Straw Hats’ East Blue adventures and follows their first major steps into the Grand Line. The route includes:
- Loguetown: the crew prepares to enter the Grand Line at the town where the Great Pirate Era began.
- Reverse Mountain and Twin Cape: the Going Merry encounters Laboon, a giant whale waiting for the return of people important to him, and Crocus, the keeper of the lighthouse.
- Whisky Peak: the crew finds that a friendly reception conceals a Baroque Works operation.
- Little Garden: the Straw Hats are caught up in a dangerous conflict involving giant warriors and Baroque Works agents.
- Drum Island: illness, medicine, Wapol’s rule, and Chopper’s history drive the final three episodes.
The season works as a bridge between the end of the East Blue adventure and the Alabasta saga. It does not resolve the Alabasta conflict. Instead, the finale gives the crew a new shared objective: helping Vivi protect her kingdom.
Major new characters in Season 2
Tony Tony Chopper
Tony Tony Chopper is the season’s most important new Straw Hat. Netflix identifies his first appearance as Episode 6, “Nami Deerest.” A doctor from Drum Island, Chopper becomes involved with the crew after the conflict with Wapol. His character combines medical knowledge, isolation, loyalty, and a deep desire to help others.

Chopper is performed through voice and facial capture by Mikaela Hoover. His introduction also changes the practical dynamic of the crew: the Straw Hats now have a dedicated doctor as they continue into increasingly dangerous waters.
Nefertari Vivi, also known as Miss Wednesday
Vivi initially appears under the Baroque Works identity Miss Wednesday. As the season develops, her true identity as the princess of Alabasta becomes clear. She is not simply a temporary traveling companion; her country’s crisis becomes the reason the Straw Hats choose to alter their course and help her.
Sir Crocodile, or Mr. 0
The season’s major villain reveal comes at the end. The mysterious leader of Baroque Works, known as Mr. 0, is revealed to be Sir Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. That revelation establishes a threat considerably more powerful and politically connected than the enemies the crew has faced previously.
Wapol, Dr. Kureha, and Dr. Hiriluk
Drum Island introduces Wapol, the tyrant whose forces oppose the island’s people. Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk are equally important to the emotional side of the story: their medical work and their connection to Chopper explain much of his identity, his ambitions, and his understanding of what it means to be a doctor.

Spoilers: how does Season 2 end?
The Drum Island storyline concludes with the Straw Hats, Vivi, Chopper, Dalton, the villagers, and Dr. Kureha united against Wapol’s forces. Chopper joins the Straw Hat crew, giving Luffy’s group a new doctor and making the journey toward Alabasta a shared mission.
The season also delivers the emotional image of pink cherry blossoms over Drum Island, fulfilling Dr. Hiriluk’s dream. As the crew sets sail, Vivi’s identity and the danger facing Alabasta give them a reason to continue together rather than simply pursuing their individual goals.
In the final major reveal, Baroque Works’ leader Mr. 0 is identified as Sir Crocodile. The ending therefore points directly toward the next stage of the story: the Straw Hats’ attempt to help Vivi while confronting Baroque Works and one of the most formidable enemies in their path.
How Season 2 connects to Season 3
Season 2 ends at the starting line of the Alabasta conflict rather than at its resolution. The Straw Hats are committed to helping Vivi save her kingdom, Chopper is part of the crew, and Crocodile’s identity has been exposed to the audience. Netflix has positioned Season 3 as the Alabasta-focused continuation, although future production and release details should be checked against the latest official announcement.
