The 2025/26 NFL season is over: Super Bowl LX was played on February 8, 2026. During that season, YouTube TV covered most local and nationally televised NFL games, while NFL Sunday Ticket added eligible out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games. It did not include every NFL broadcast—Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video and other specially assigned games required separate access.
The 2025 NFL season ended with Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026. For that completed season, YouTube TV was a major online option for NFL viewers in the United States, but it was not an all-games service. The standard YouTube TV plan carried local CBS and FOX Sunday-afternoon games, NBC’s Sunday Night Football, ESPN’s Monday Night Football, NFL Network, ABC games where available, and nationally televised postseason games. NFL Sunday Ticket added eligible out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games, while Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video required a separate service.
This guide explains what the 2025/26 YouTube TV setup included, what it excluded, how Sunday Ticket worked, how to watch on different devices, and what to check when a local game is missing. Channel rights and prices can change for a later NFL season, so verify the live NFL Ways to Watch guide and YouTube TV purchase terms before subscribing.
What YouTube TV included for the 2025 NFL season
YouTube TV’s ordinary plan was suitable for viewers who mainly wanted games shown by their local broadcast affiliates or carried nationally. The exact local lineup depended on the viewer’s United States market and current location.

| Game or coverage type | Was it included? | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Local Sunday-afternoon games | Usually, through CBS and FOX affiliates available in the viewer’s market | Local availability depended on ZIP code and playback location. |
| Sunday Night Football | Yes, through NBC where available | Nationally televised games are not Sunday Ticket games. |
| Monday Night Football | Yes, through ESPN | Some assignments can be affected by NFL scheduling changes. |
| NFL Network games | Yes, on plans carrying NFL Network | Check the current channel lineup for your market and plan. |
| ABC games | Available where identified by YouTube TV’s plan and market coverage | Do not assume every ABC game is available in every location. |
| National postseason games | Yes, when carried by networks included in the plan | Sunday Ticket does not provide postseason access by itself. |
| Thursday Night Football | No, not the Amazon Prime Video package | Amazon Prime Video was a separate requirement for those games. |
YouTube TV also carried most preseason games that were locally or nationally distributed. The NFL’s platform assignments can include special, international, holiday, or flex-scheduled games, so a particular matchup should always be checked in the official NFL schedule and viewing guide rather than inferred from the weekday alone.
What NFL Sunday Ticket added
NFL Sunday Ticket was the complementary product for regular-season Sunday-afternoon games on CBS and FOX that were outside the viewer’s local market. For example, a fan living in one state who wanted to follow a team whose CBS or FOX game was not being shown locally could use Sunday Ticket for that eligible out-of-market game.
Sunday Ticket was not a complete NFL subscription. It did not replace the YouTube TV base plan for local games, nationally televised games, preseason games, or postseason games. It also did not remove local-market restrictions: adding Sunday Ticket did not turn a locally unavailable or blacked-out game into an out-of-market stream.
Choosing the right setup
| Setup | Best for | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube TV only | Local broadcast games, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, NFL Network, and other included national coverage | It does not provide out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games just because they are being shown on CBS or FOX elsewhere. |
| YouTube TV + NFL Sunday Ticket | The broadest YouTube TV-based regular-season Sunday setup | Thursday games on Amazon Prime Video and other platform-specific games remain separate; local and national games are still governed by their normal distribution rules. |
| NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube Primetime Channels | Viewers who want eligible out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games without subscribing to the YouTube TV base plan | It does not supply the local and national channels included with YouTube TV. |
YouTube TV requires an active YouTube TV plan for the YouTube TV version of the Sunday Ticket add-on. The provider stated that it did not offer single-team plans or individual weekly purchases, although month-to-month availability could vary. Season-pass cancellation and refund rules differed from month-to-month billing, so read the terms shown during the live purchase process instead of relying on a general refund promise.

Which NFL games were not on YouTube TV?
YouTube TV covered much of the 2025 NFL schedule, but not every game. The most important exception was Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video. The Black Friday game was also assigned to Amazon Prime Video for the researched season.
The 2025 distribution summary also identified Netflix for exclusive Christmas Day games and YouTube for the 2025 São Paulo game. Those assignments were separate from the ordinary YouTube TV plan. International games, holiday games, and selected Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, or Thursday Night Football assignments can also involve special scheduling or flex decisions.
Because NFL rights are season-specific, do not carry these assignments forward automatically to a later season. For any individual matchup, check the NFL’s official Ways to Watch page and the platform listed in the game schedule.
YouTube TV price and NFL Sunday Ticket buying notes
Price checked against the supplied research on August 13, 2026: YouTube TV’s official help information listed the main plan at $82.99 per month before tax. That figure should be treated as a dated reference, not a permanent price.

NFL Sunday Ticket pricing was displayed through the live purchase flow and could change with season timing, promotions, renewal status, and eligibility. The exact Sunday Ticket price should therefore be checked immediately before purchase. Do not assume that an older article’s introductory offer or season price still applies.
- If you only need your local team and nationally televised games, start with YouTube TV alone.
- If you follow an out-of-market team on Sunday afternoons, compare the cost of YouTube TV plus Sunday Ticket with the standalone Primetime Channels route.
- If you only need local broadcast games, an over-the-air antenna may be a lower-cost alternative where reception is good. It cannot provide Sunday Ticket games, out-of-market broadcasts, or streaming-exclusive games.
- If you need Thursday Night Football, budget separately for Amazon Prime Video for the games assigned there.
How to watch NFL games on YouTube TV
- Use a supported device. You can watch through the YouTube TV app on supported smart televisions, streaming devices, game consoles, phones, and tablets, or through a supported web browser.
- Sign in with the purchasing Google account. Use the Google account associated with the YouTube TV plan or NFL Sunday Ticket purchase.
- Find the game. Search for “NFL,” open the NFL page, or browse the Home and Live tabs. On Sundays, the live guide and NFL page are usually the quickest places to compare available games.
- Check your playback area. If the wrong local game appears or YouTube TV cannot determine your location, verify the current playback area and allow the service to use the relevant location permissions.
- Save the game if you want a recording. Add the game to your Library before kickoff. Recording availability follows the rights included with your subscription.
Watching on a television without a compatible app
Most viewers can use the YouTube TV app already built into a supported television or streaming platform. If an older television does not support the app, an optional device such as Google TV Streamer (4K) can provide a supported way to run YouTube TV on the TV. The device is only streaming hardware: it does not include YouTube TV, NFL Sunday Ticket, Amazon Prime Video, or any NFL programming.
For 4K playback where a program and service support it, YouTube TV says compatible hardware and an HDCP 2.2-compliant HDMI connection are required. A 4K television alone does not guarantee that an NFL broadcast will be delivered in 4K, and an HDCP 2.2 cable is not necessary for ordinary HD viewing.
Sunday viewing features: Multiview, DVR, and replays
Multiview
YouTube TV Multiview can put up to four eligible events on one screen. For NFL Sunday Ticket, the available combinations are selected NFL-game groupings rather than any arbitrary combination of YouTube TV channels. That makes Multiview useful for comparing Sunday-afternoon games, but it does not grant access to games excluded from the plan.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
DVR recordings
The base YouTube TV plan can record included local and national games. Sunday Ticket can record the eligible out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games in that package. With both subscriptions, the combined setup covers the games available through those subscriptions, but it still does not add Thursday Night Football games carried by Amazon Prime Video or other separately distributed games.

Condensed replays
YouTube TV’s NFL guidance described condensed, approximately 45-minute on-demand replays that become available after games. They remain available for a limited period, so a condensed replay should not be treated as a permanent archive.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Devices, streams, and internet requirements
- Simultaneous viewing: The ordinary YouTube TV plan supports up to three simultaneous devices under the stated plan rules.
- Sunday Ticket streams: NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers receive unlimited streams at home and up to two streams outside the home under the stated rules.
- Family sharing: YouTube TV and Sunday Ticket can be shared with up to five other household members, subject to Google account, household, location, and plan restrictions.
- Internet speed: YouTube TV recommends at least 7 Mbps download speed for the best live-streaming experience. That is a guideline, not a guarantee against buffering; Wi-Fi quality, congestion, device performance, and other household traffic also matter.
If you are buying equipment, prioritize compatibility with the YouTube TV app before resolution. A supported HD television and stable connection are enough for ordinary viewing. 4K hardware is useful only when the specific program and service provide 4K playback.
Local channels, travel, and missing games
YouTube TV uses location information to determine which local affiliates and local games you receive. When you travel within the United States, local channel access can change according to your current location, while national networks remain available according to the plan. As a result, a Sunday-afternoon game that is local in one city may be treated as an out-of-market Sunday Ticket game—or may be unavailable through your local affiliates—in another.
If a game is missing, work through this checklist:
- Confirm the game’s official network or platform in the NFL schedule.
- Check whether it is a local CBS or FOX game, an eligible Sunday Ticket game, or a nationally televised game.
- Open YouTube TV’s location or playback-area verification and confirm the current location.
- Check that the Google account signed in is the one that owns the relevant subscription.
- Look in the Live tab, NFL page, and Library rather than relying only on a search result.
- For Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, or another separately assigned platform, open that service instead of expecting the game to appear in YouTube TV.
Do not rely on a VPN as a promised way around local-market restrictions. The official guidance points viewers toward location verification, and changing apparent location may cause playback or account problems rather than unlock a game.

Bottom line for the 2025/26 season
For the completed 2025 season, YouTube TV alone was enough for most local and nationally televised NFL games. Adding NFL Sunday Ticket made it the broadest YouTube TV-based option for regular-season Sunday-afternoon games outside the local market. It still was not an all-access pass: Amazon Prime Video handled Thursday Night Football and other games were assigned to Netflix, YouTube, or another platform. Before purchasing for a future season, confirm the current NFL rights, local channel availability, Sunday Ticket terms, and live prices.
Frequently Asked Questions

How much did YouTube TV cost for NFL viewing?
The supplied official pricing information listed the main YouTube TV plan at $82.99 per month before tax as of August 13, 2026. Sunday Ticket pricing varied by purchase flow, timing, promotions, renewal status, and eligibility, so check the live offer before subscribing.
Can I watch YouTube TV on Google TV Streamer?
Yes, but only if it is a supported device and the program is available through your subscription. Google TV Streamer (4K) is optional streaming hardware; it does not include YouTube TV, Sunday Ticket, or NFL programming.
Why is the local NFL game missing on YouTube TV?
YouTube TV determines local channels using your location. When traveling within the United States, the available local affiliate and local game can change. Verify the current playback area and location permissions if the wrong game appears.
The Bottom Line
In short: YouTube TV covered local CBS and FOX games plus much of the national NFL schedule in 2025, while NFL Sunday Ticket added eligible out-of-market Sunday-afternoon games. Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video and other specially assigned games required separate access.
