1. Andor season 2 — Disney+
Best overall pick. Lucasfilm describes season 2 as the long-awaited conclusion to the Emmy-winning thriller. It premiered on April 22, 2025, and follows Cassian Andor as the coming war pushes him closer to the center of the Rebel Alliance.

- HD streaming made simple: With America’s number 1 TV streaming platform,* exploring popular apps—plus tons of free movies, shows, and live TV—is as easy as it is fun. *Based on hours streamed—Hypothesis Group
- Compact without compromises: The sleek design of Roku Streaming Stick won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, and it even powers from your TV alone, plugging into the back and staying out of sight. No wall outlet, no extra cords, no clutter.
- No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more.
- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
The season’s biggest appeal is its place in the larger Star Wars timeline. This is not a new series or a side story detached from the films: it completes Cassian’s transformation from a cynical outsider into the rebel hero seen in Rogue One. The narrative therefore carries directly toward the events of that film, giving the season added significance for viewers who want to see how the rebellion takes shape.
Andor is the right choice if you want franchise television with political tension, espionage and institutional conflict rather than a simple succession of battles. The claim that it is the best recent Star Wars television entry is an editorial judgment, not an objective fact, but it is easy to understand why the series has attracted that reputation: its focus is on the people, systems and compromises behind a revolution.
Watch it if: you want the most consequential release of the weekend, especially if you have already seen Rogue One.
Optional companion: Fans interested in the series’ production design, concept work and behind-the-scenes development may also want The Art of Star Wars: Andor, an official Abrams hardcover covering the complete series through its final season.

2. You season 5 — Netflix
Joe Goldberg returns to New York for the fifth and final season of Netflix’s psychological thriller. Netflix Tudum lists all 10 episodes as available from April 24, 2025.
The homecoming gives the final season a deliberate full-circle quality. Joe attempts to preserve a polished public life, but the violence and deception that have followed him threaten to break through the respectable image he has built. Returning him to New York also reconnects the series with the setting that established its central obsession and its particular brand of dark, self-justifying narration.
That makes You season 5 the straightforward binge choice on this list: all 10 episodes are available, and the final-season framing gives longtime viewers a reason to see how Joe’s story concludes. This recommendation avoids revealing the ending, so viewers who are not caught up should steer clear of spoilers before starting.

Watch it if: you want a completed thriller binge and have followed Joe’s increasingly destructive attempts to reinvent himself.
3. Étoile — Prime Video
Étoile is the tonal change-up: a ballet dramedy rather than a crime thriller, franchise drama or action movie. Prime Video’s premise centers on two struggling dance companies—one in New York and one in Paris—that exchange their top dancers in an attempt to save their institutions.
The setup creates two kinds of pressure. The dancers must cope with demanding artistic expectations and unfamiliar environments, while the companies face the larger question of whether reputation, talent and tradition are enough to keep a cultural institution alive. Clashing personalities and backstage tensions supply the comedy and drama.
It is a strong option for viewers who prefer character relationships and workplace conflict to violence or high-concept suspense. Because Prime Video catalogs can differ by territory, confirm that Étoile is available in your country before planning a watch.
Watch it if: you want an arts-focused ensemble drama with international settings and a lighter tone than the other scripted titles here.

It is the list’s clearest choice for viewers who want access to an athlete’s career rather than a fictional story. The short episode count makes it suitable for a weekend watch, while the focus on Alcaraz’s development gives the series a conventional but effective sports-documentary arc: early foundations, increasingly intense expectations and the challenge of operating at the top level.
The documentary is best approached as an athlete profile, not as a substitute for a match-by-match account of tennis history. Claims about specific ranking records or “youngest-ever” achievements should be checked against the relevant date and record source; they are not necessary to the series’ central appeal.
Watch it if: you enjoy behind-the-scenes sports access, personal career stories and documentaries that can be completed in a few episodes.

5. Vanderpump Villa season 2 — Hulu
The second season of Hulu’s reality series moves the action from the South of France to an Italian castle. Lisa Vanderpump and the staff must manage luxury hospitality while also navigating romance, rivalries and the friction of living and working together.
The change of location gives the season a fresh visual setting, but the engine remains familiar: service work, interpersonal conflict and the promise that professional responsibilities will collide with cast relationships. The season is also associated with a reported $30,000 bonus, adding another incentive to the competition and disagreements around the villa.
Hulu press material identifies Lisa Vanderpump as an executive producer and Bunim/Murray Productions as the production company. Episode availability should be checked directly on Hulu, since the research for this roundup does not establish that every episode was released at once.

Watch it if: you want unscripted drama, luxury settings and a cast whose workplace relationships are as important as the hospitality operation.
6. Havoc — Netflix
Netflix’s Havoc combines two strong action-film selling points: Gareth Evans, the filmmaker behind The Raid, and Tom Hardy in the lead role. Hardy plays Walker, a battered detective who must rescue a politician’s estranged son after a drug deal goes wrong.
The rescue mission quickly expands into a much larger criminal conspiracy involving gangs, corrupt officials and compromised police officers. That gives the film more than a simple extraction plot: Walker has to fight his way through an underworld while uncovering how far the corruption reaches.
Netflix lists the film as streaming from April 25, 2025. It is rated TV-MA, so viewers should expect an adult-oriented action thriller rather than a family selection. The Evans-Hardy pairing is the main reason to choose it if your priority is kinetic, violent crime action.
Watch it if: you want a new action movie rather than a multi-episode commitment and like the combination of Gareth Evans’ action credentials with Tom Hardy’s bruised-detective performance.
7. Bullet Train Explosion — Netflix
Bullet Train Explosion turns a train journey into a simple, immediately understandable countdown. In Shinji Higuchi’s modern reboot of the 1975 Japanese thriller The Bullet Train, a bomb is placed aboard the Tohoku Shinkansen Hayabusa No. 60. If the train slows below 100 kilometers per hour, it will detonate.

That premise creates pressure without requiring a complicated setup: the passengers and railway authorities must keep the train moving while trying to locate the threat and prevent disaster. The concept also helps explain the film’s connection to the earlier Japanese thriller and to the Hollywood movie Speed, which used a related high-speed-bus premise.
This is a reboot or reimagining, not a sequel. Netflix announced its streaming release for April 23, 2025, making it another Netflix option for the weekend alongside You and Havoc.
Watch it if: you prefer a contained disaster thriller with a clear mechanical rule and a ticking clock.
