Yeezy.com was temporarily shut down—not permanently ended—after Shopify removed the store on February 11, 2025. The action followed the listing of a $20 white T-shirt bearing a Nazi-associated swastika, shortly after a Yeezy commercial aired during Super Bowl LIX.
What happened to Yeezy.com?
Yeezy.com did not disappear permanently. It was temporarily taken offline on February 11, 2025, after Shopify removed the store from its platform. The shutdown followed a brief period in which the site promoted a $20 white T-shirt bearing a large black swastika, shortly after a Yeezy commercial aired during Super Bowl LIX.
Shopify said the merchant had violated its terms and was not engaging in “authentic commerce practices.” The company did not publicly identify a single specific rule in its initial statement. A later Los Angeles Times report, citing an internal Shopify explanation, said the product appeared to be a stunt rather than a good-faith retail offering and raised concerns about fraud and fulfillment.
The Yeezy shutdown timeline
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| February 9, 2025 | A roughly 30-second Yeezy advertisement aired on three Fox-owned stations, including KTTV in Los Angeles. The low-budget, iPhone-recorded commercial directed viewers to Yeezy.com. |
| Shortly afterward | The website changed from a conventional Yeezy store carrying items such as shirts, pants and jackets to a page offering one $20 white T-shirt bearing a black swastika. |
| February 11, 2025 | Visitors saw messages including “Something went wrong” and “This store is unavailable.” Shopify confirmed that it had removed the merchant. |
| August 2025 | Yeezy.com was reportedly relaunched with footwear and apparel, including newer Yeezy-branded slides and other products. |
The timing was central to the story. According to Variety, the site still showed ordinary apparel when the commercial was reviewed before broadcast. Within approximately an hour of the Los Angeles airing, it had been changed to the single-shirt storefront. That distinction matters: the advertisement itself reportedly passed legal review because its copy and the website checked before broadcast did not contain the later merchandise issue.

Why did Shopify remove Yeezy.com?
The most accurate answer is that Shopify removed the store after determining that it violated the company’s terms, while also saying that the merchant was not conducting authentic commerce. It is too broad to say, without qualification, that Shopify removed Yeezy.com solely because the shirt displayed a hateful symbol.
Shopify’s public compliance guidance explains that it can remove products, restrict payments, lock stores or terminate accounts when merchants violate its Terms of Service, acceptable-use rules or related product policies. That establishes the platform’s enforcement powers, but it does not identify the exact provision applied to Yeezy in this case.
The reported internal explanation adds context. The Los Angeles Times said Shopify general counsel Jess Hertz described the listing as an apparent stunt rather than a genuine attempt to sell merchandise, with a risk that customers could pay without receiving products. That account should be treated as reported internal reasoning, not as a formally published finding that every order was fraudulent.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →TMZ reported a source’s claim that the Super Bowl promotion generated approximately $2 million in sales. At the listed price, that would imply about 100,000 shirts. However, Forbes reported that it was unclear whether any shirts were actually shipped during the roughly two days they were available.
That means “100,000 shirts were sold and delivered” is not a verified conclusion. The defensible wording is that a source attributed an approximately $2 million sales figure to the promotion, while the actual order and fulfillment totals were not independently established.

Why the listing caused such a strong reaction
The design used a symbol widely associated with Nazi Germany and antisemitic ideology. Although the swastika has older religious and cultural meanings in several Asian traditions, the orientation and presentation of the symbol on the Yeezy shirt were understood in the Western news context as a Nazi-associated image.
The controversy was intensified by the product’s placement immediately after a high-profile Super Bowl advertisement. The commercial sent viewers to the official Yeezy store, and the store then appeared to offer a single provocative item rather than a normal range of merchandise. That combination created questions about whether the listing was intended as a genuine product, a publicity stunt, or both.
The merchandise also became part of a broader public controversy surrounding West’s statements and conduct. Those surrounding issues provide context, but they should not obscure the narrower, documented sequence: the shirt appeared on Yeezy.com, Shopify cited terms violations and a lack of authentic commerce, and the store was removed.

Is Yeezy.com still offline?
No. The February 2025 outage was temporary. Later reporting described a relaunch in August 2025, and the official Yeezy terms page identifies Yeezy, LLC as the operator and lists storefront categories including footwear, accessories and slides. The site also exposes current Yeezy product pages, including a YS-02 page.
Availability can change, and the later relaunch does not mean the February store was restored unchanged. The reported post-shutdown catalog was focused on Yeezy footwear and apparel rather than the controversial shirt listing.

Netflix describes jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy as a three-part documentary series following his career and creative development.
