The 2025 cast of The Young and the Restless featured the show’s established Newman, Abbott, Winters, Chancellor and Baldwin families, alongside major casting changes involving Cane Ashby, Noah Newman and Matt Clark. Here is who played whom during the year, with dated explanations for recasts, returns, identity reveals and short-term appearances.
The 2025 cast of The Young and the Restless included the Newman, Abbott, Winters, Chancellor and Baldwin families, along with several major business rivals and newer characters. The most important casting developments were Billy Flynn taking over as Cane Ashby after appearing as the mystery businessman Aristotle Dumas, Lucas Adams replacing Rory Gibson as Noah Newman, Roger Howarth being revealed as Matt Clark, and the death of Chance Chancellor, played by Conner Floyd.
This guide covers the principal and recurring actors who appeared during calendar year 2025, plus the year’s major recasts, returns and short-term additions. It is not a claim that every listed actor appeared in every episode or held a contract position throughout the year. CBS’s official cast page is a live roster, so it should not be read as a frozen December 2025 contract-cast archive.

The biggest 2025 casting changes
Billy Flynn joined as Cane Ashby
Billy Flynn debuted on June 19, 2025, but not under Cane Ashby’s name. He first played a mysterious businessman called Aristotle Dumas. The show later revealed that Dumas was actually Cane Ashby, Lily Winters’s former husband.
That means “Aristotle Dumas” should be treated as a cover identity in the 2025 storyline, not as a separate permanent character. Flynn became the new actor associated with Cane after Daniel Goddard’s earlier portrayal of the role; Goddard had last played Cane before the character’s return. The identity twist and casting transition were discussed in TV Insider’s report on Flynn’s Cane Ashby casting.
Chance Chancellor’s story ended with Conner Floyd’s exit
Conner Floyd’s run as Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV ended on July 28, 2025. Chance died after being injured during the Nice storyline. Floyd had played the character for nearly four years.
This was not simply a late-July recast. In a complete 2025 guide, Chance’s departure should be identified as a character death and Floyd’s exit rather than described as a routine change of actor. Soap Opera Digest reported on Floyd’s departure.
Tamara Braun debuted as Sienna Bacall
Tamara Braun first appeared as Sienna Bacall on October 14, 2025. Sienna runs the Los Angeles nightclub The Shadow Room and becomes connected to Noah Newman’s storyline after his car accident. Braun’s arrival was a late-year addition to the cast rather than a replacement for one of the show’s established family roles. TV Insider’s casting report explains Sienna’s introduction.
Roger Howarth’s “Mitch Bacall” was really Matt Clark
Roger Howarth first appeared on October 31, 2025, apparently as Mitch Bacall, Sienna’s husband. The show then revealed that Mitch was actually Matt Clark, the presumed-dead villain who had previously tormented Nick and Sharon.

For that reason, a cast guide that lists Howarth only as Mitch Bacall is incomplete. Mitch was the identity used when the character entered the story; Matt Clark was the later identity clarification. Howarth’s mystery casting and the reveal were covered by Soap Opera Digest.
Lucas Adams replaced Rory Gibson as Noah Newman
Lucas Adams debuted as Noah Newman on November 4, 2025. He replaced Rory Gibson, whose last appearance as Noah had been in 2023. Gibson later joined General Hospital as Michael Corinthos, while Adams was known for playing Tripp Johnson on Days of Our Lives.

Lucas Adams is the Noah associated with the late-2025 return storyline. The CBS biography for Lucas Adams confirms his place in the role.
Other late-2025 appearances and returns
The year also included several performers whose roles should be labeled recurring, guest or short-term rather than automatically presented as permanent contract positions:
- Matt Cohen appeared as Detective Burrow.
- Catherine Kresge appeared as LAPD Detective Annie Stewart.
- Tricia Cast returned as Nina Webster.
- Patty Weaver returned as Gina Roma.
- Ray Wise briefly returned as Ian Ward in a manifestation experienced by Mariah.
These appearances were among the late-year developments summarized in Soap Opera Digest’s 2025 year-end casting review. A guest return can be important to a story without making the performer part of the show’s continuing principal cast.
How the major families connect
The Newman family
Victor Newman and Nikki Newman remain at the center of the Newman family, with their children Nick, Victoria and Abby representing different parts of the family’s personal and corporate legacy. Adam Newman, Victor’s son with Hope Adams, is Nick’s half-brother and a longstanding rival within the Newman orbit. Claire Newman, Victoria’s daughter, adds another generation to the family.

Sharon Newman is closely tied to this group through her former marriage to Nick and their son Noah. Mariah Copeland, Sharon’s daughter, extends that family network, while Tessa Porter is connected to it through her marriage to Mariah. The 2025 arrival of Lucas Adams as Noah gave this part of the cast its most visible recast of the year.
The Abbott family
Jack Abbott is the Abbott patriarch and Victor’s longtime corporate rival. His immediate family circle includes his wife Diane Jenkins Abbott, their son Kyle, and his siblings Jill, Billy, Ashley and Traci. The family is also connected to the cosmetics company Jabot and to the wider Newman business and relationship network.
Abby Newman is part of both major families: she is Victor and Ashley’s daughter. That dual connection makes her an important bridge between the Newmans and Abbotts, even when the two families are competing in business or divided personally.
The Winters, Chancellor and Hastings connections
Lily Winters is Neil Winters’s daughter and Cane Ashby’s former wife. Devon Hamilton Winters is Neil’s son and a businessman associated with Chancellor-Winters and the broader Abbott-Newman business orbit. Cane’s return under the temporary identity Aristotle Dumas was therefore more than a new-business storyline: it also reopened an established personal connection.

Nate Hastings represents the Hastings family and has moved from medicine into the business world. The Chancellor family is also part of the show’s wider history through Chance Chancellor and Esther Valentine, the longtime Chancellor family housekeeper. Chance’s death in July was one of the year’s clearest examples of why a cast guide must distinguish an active character from a performer who appeared earlier in the year.
Genoa City’s business, legal and romantic circles
Michael Baldwin and Lauren Fenmore Baldwin represent two of Genoa City’s established professional and family institutions: law and business. Phyllis Summers remains a competitive businesswoman and a major rival of Sharon and the Newmans. Her son Daniel Romalotti Jr. connects her to Danny Romalotti and Christine Blair Romalotti, while Christine’s legal career gives the established cast another important professional link.

Why “the 2025 cast” needs a qualification
Daytime dramas do not operate like a film with one fixed cast list. Actors may appear under contract, recur for a storyline, return for a short engagement, take a break, be temporarily recast or appear in a brief guest role. Characters can also be introduced under false names, as happened with Cane Ashby and Matt Clark.

Not necessarily. CBS maintains a current cast page, and soap-opera cast status can change. The page may include continuing, recurring or recently associated performers, so dated casting reports are needed for a precise year-specific guide.
