How to install Pluto TV by platform
Roku TV
- Press the Home button on the Roku remote.
- Open Store or Streaming Store. Roku may use slightly different wording depending on its software version.
- Find or search for Pluto TV.
- Open the app’s details and select Add app.
- Return to the Home screen. The newly added app should appear in the app list.
Roku also supports adding apps through its website or mobile app. If Pluto TV does not appear on the TV afterward, check for a Roku update: Settings > System > System update > Check now. Roku documents the app-installation process and this update path in its official app-installation instructions.
Amazon Fire TV
- From the Fire TV home screen, open Search.
- Enter Pluto TV.
- Select the Pluto TV result.
- Choose the on-screen option to download or install the app.
- Open Pluto TV from the Fire TV app list.
Pluto TV lists Fire TV as a supported platform, and Amazon identifies Pluto TV as a free streaming app available on Fire TV. Availability and content can still vary by region. The current platform list is available on Pluto TV’s Where to Watch page.
Google TV and Android TV
- Open the Apps section or launch Google Play.
- Search for Pluto TV.
- Select the official result.
- Choose Install and open the app when installation finishes.
The layout differs among televisions and streaming devices. Google says that developers distribute apps for Google TV and Android TV through Google Play, but the apps shown can depend on the device, country, language, and software version. Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD
- Open the App Store from the Apple TV Home screen.
- Search for Pluto TV.
- Select the app and choose Get.
- Open Pluto TV after the download completes.
These instructions apply to Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD. Apple’s third-generation Apple TV does not have an App Store for downloading new apps; it can update built-in apps but cannot install new ones through the App Store. Samsung smart TV
- Open Samsung’s app area or Smart Hub.
- Use search to look for Pluto TV.
- Select the Pluto TV app if it is offered for your television.
- Choose the install option and open the app from Smart Hub.
Do not assume that every Samsung smart TV supports Pluto TV. Samsung provides a Pluto TV app listing and compatible-device information. If the result is missing, check the TV model and the country or region assigned to the television.
LG smart TV
- Open the LG Content Store.
- Search for Pluto TV.
- Select the app if it is listed for your TV.
- Choose Install, then launch Pluto TV from the Home screen or app list.
LG specifically notes that available apps can vary by country, TV model, and webOS version. If Pluto TV is not listed, use LG’s instructions for finding apps in the LG Content Store and verify compatibility rather than trying to install an unofficial package.
Vizio and other supported televisions
Pluto TV’s platform directory lists Vizio and several other connected-TV ecosystems. On these televisions, open the built-in app store, search for Pluto TV, and install the official result if it is offered. Because menu names and catalogs differ, use the manufacturer’s model and region compatibility tools if the search produces no result. Pluto TV’s platform directory is a useful starting point, but it should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every model from a listed manufacturer is compatible.
What to do if Pluto TV is not in the app store
1. Confirm compatibility
Check all of the following:
- The exact television model number.
- The operating-system, webOS, or firmware version.
- The country or region selected on the TV and in its app-store account.
- Whether the television is connected to the internet.
- Whether the manufacturer still supports the TV’s platform.
A service may be supported by a manufacturer in general but unavailable on a particular older model or in a particular market. LG specifically identifies the country, model, and webOS version as app-availability variables; Google also notes that app availability and features can depend on country or language.

2. Update the TV or streaming device
An outdated system may not display the current app catalog correctly. Roku’s documented path is Settings > System > System update > Check now. Other manufacturers use different menus, so open the television’s own software-update screen and install any available official update. An update cannot overcome a permanent model or regional restriction, but it can correct an outdated catalog or software problem.
3. Restart the TV and network
Close the app store, restart the television, and restart the router or modem if the TV is having connection problems. Then search again. This can refresh the store and network connection, but it will not make Pluto TV appear on an unsupported model.
4. Check the region without assuming it is a universal fix
App stores are region-sensitive. Confirm that the TV is assigned to the country where you are using it and that the account region is correct. Changing a region setting is not guaranteed to add Pluto TV and may affect other installed apps or available services, so do not change it merely as a first troubleshooting step.
5. Use a supported external streaming device
If your TV’s built-in platform does not support Pluto TV, connect a supported streaming device through HDMI. If Pluto TV is not available in your TV’s app store, an Amazon Fire TV Stick is a practical workaround because Pluto TV lists Amazon Fire TV among its supported platforms. Check the device and regional availability before buying; an external device is an alternative platform, not a guarantee that every Pluto TV feature or catalog will be identical in every location.
A Roku streaming device is another legitimate option because Pluto TV supports Roku and Roku provides a direct Add app workflow. Apple TV and Google TV or Android TV devices are also possible alternatives. You do not need to buy one if your television already offers the official Pluto TV app.
