That distinction matters because older search results and promotional pages may still describe Season 5 in the future tense. Current coverage should use the past tense for its release dates and should treat plot, character outcomes and the finale as spoiler-sensitive material.
Story setup: what Season 5 is about
Netflix places the story in the fall of 1987, after Hawkins has been badly damaged by the opening of the Rifts. The group’s objective is clear: find and kill Vecna.
