Connections categories for January 11
Yellow: Display of rows and columns
ARRAY, GRID, MATRIX, TABLE
Each word can describe a structured arrangement in rows and columns. “Table” and “array” are common data-display terms, while “grid” and “matrix” can describe rectangular arrangements more broadly.
Green: Things to do at a work event
CIRCULATE, CONVERSE, MINGLE, NETWORK
These are all activities someone might do at a professional gathering: move around the room, talk with colleagues, socialize, and build professional relationships.
Rank #2
Blue: Olympic events since 2000
BREAKING, SURFING, TAEKWONDO, TRAMPOLINE
The four words point to Olympic disciplines or event labels associated with the modern Games. Breaking and surfing are newer additions to the Olympic program, while taekwondo and trampoline have also featured in Olympic competition during this period.
Purple: ___ court
FOOD, KANGAROO, SUPREME, TENNIS
Add court after each word: food court, kangaroo court, Supreme Court, and tennis court. “Kangaroo court” is the trickiest pairing because it refers to a mock or improperly conducted tribunal rather than a literal court facility.

Why this puzzle can be difficult
The yellow group contains several overlapping-looking terms for organized arrangements, but the words become clearer when considered together as rows-and-columns concepts. The green group is also somewhat broad: circulate, converse, mingle, and network are all plausible actions at many social events, but the work-event framing narrows the intended connection.
The purple group relies on familiar phrases rather than a single subject area. “Supreme Court” is especially tempting as a proper name, while “kangaroo court” is the less literal phrase that completes the set. As with many Connections puzzles, recognizing a possible group is not enough; you must also avoid using a word that belongs to a stronger group elsewhere.
