There is no single age that remains correct for every Hunter x Hunter character throughout the story. The principal cast grows older across the arcs, and several popular figures come from a mixture of licensed descriptions, the official Hunter’s Guide, chronology calculations, and secondary estimates.
There is no single age for every Hunter x Hunter character throughout the story. The cast grows older as the arcs progress, and several ages repeated online come from a mixture of licensed character descriptions, the official Hunter’s Guide, chronology-based calculations, and secondary reference tables.
The most reliable way to answer the question is to attach each age to a story period and label how strong the evidence is. Gon and Killua begin as children around 11 or 12; Leorio is already an adult; and characters such as Netero and Biscuit require a distinction between chronological age and appearance.
The four principal characters
| Character | Approximate age across the story | Evidence and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Gon Freecss | About 11–14 | VIZ’s licensed character description identifies Gon as 12. Story chronology commonly places him at roughly 11–12 early on and around 14 in later material. |
| Killua Zoldyck | About 11–14 | Killua is approximately the same age as Gon, beginning around 11–12 and remaining in the early-teen range through the covered story. |
| Kurapika Kurta | About 12–19, depending on the story point | This wider range appears in reference tables that span different arcs and later chronology. It should be treated as approximate rather than as one universally confirmed present age. |
| Leorio Paradinight | About 19–21 | Leorio is the older member of the original group: commonly placed around 19 during the Hunter Exam and approximately 21 later. |
The official Shueisha material centers Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio as the series’ principal group. That does not mean every number in popular age charts is stated directly in the manga. In particular, the ages for Kurapika and Leorio are best presented as story-period estimates.
Gon Freecss: about 11–14
Gon is introduced as a young boy who leaves Whale Island to follow the path of his absent father, Ging, and qualify as a Hunter. The licensed VIZ character material explicitly describes him as 12, making that the clearest fixed age attached to his early characterization.

Different lists use different reference points: Gon’s first manga appearance, his anime introduction, the Hunter Exam, or later chronology. For that reason, the most useful summary is:
- Early story: roughly 11–12.
- Later story: commonly placed around 14.
- Confidence: medium-high, because the 12-year description is licensed, while the broader range depends on chronology.
Killua Zoldyck: about 11–14
Killua is approximately Gon’s age when the two meet during the Hunter Exam. Although he comes from the feared Zoldyck assassin family, he is still a child at the beginning of the series. He and Gon develop through the same sequence of early adventures, so their ages remain broadly aligned.
It is safer to describe Killua as beginning around 11–12 and reaching the early-teen range later than to call him permanently 12 or 14. The exact answer changes according to whether a source is describing the debut, the anime’s presentation, or a later manga story point.

Kurapika Kurta: about 12–19
Kurapika is one of the four central characters, but his age is harder to summarize because commonly circulated reference tables cover a much wider span of the story. They often place him at approximately 12 in early chronology and around 19 in later reference material.
That does not necessarily mean that one scene clearly announces both figures. The range reflects differing story points and source conventions. Kurapika’s age should therefore be written as approximately 12–19 depending on when the story is being measured, not as an exact age that remains unchanged throughout the series.
Leorio Paradinight: about 19–21
Leorio is the adult-aged member of the original Hunter Exam group. He is commonly placed at about 19 when the main quartet first comes together and approximately 21 in later chronology.
That age difference helps explain his role in the group. Gon and Killua are children, Kurapika is also young, while Leorio has already begun thinking about education, money, professional status, and the responsibilities of adulthood. His central-character status is directly established in official promotional and reference material; the precise age figures are more commonly cited than repeatedly stated in the manga.

Other major characters and their commonly cited ages
| Character | Commonly cited age or range | Confidence | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hisoka Morow | Approximately 28 | Medium-low | A useful reference figure, but not one to describe as a repeatedly stated manga fact without page-level verification. |
| Chrollo Lucilfer | Approximately 26–28 | Medium-low | Generally estimated to be in his late twenties; online lists may combine guidebook information with secondary reconstruction. |
| Ging Freecss | Roughly early-to-mid thirties, about 31–34 | Medium-low | His identity as Gon’s father and a Double-Star Ruins Hunter is well established, but the exact age is reference-derived here. |
| Isaac Netero | Approximately 110–120 | Medium-low | The safest plain-language description is that he is over a century old. |
| Kite | Approximately 24–25 | Medium-low | Usually listed as being in his mid-twenties; the exact number should remain approximate. |
| Alluka Zoldyck | Approximately 11 | Low-medium | Chronological age should be kept separate from the identity and supernatural context surrounding Nanika. |
| Biscuit Krueger | Approximately 57–59 | Medium-low | Her youthful appearance is an ability or presentation choice and should not be confused with her chronological age. |
Hisoka Morow: approximately 28
Hisoka is generally listed at about 28 years old, placing him in his late twenties during the main story. His age is often repeated in character-reference articles, but the available evidence does not justify presenting it as a simple, repeatedly stated manga fact.
The important story-level conclusion is less about whether Hisoka is exactly 27 or 28 and more about the generation gap between him and the young Hunters he encounters. He is an experienced adult combatant, not a peer of Gon and Killua.
Chrollo Lucilfer: approximately 26–28
Chrollo is commonly estimated to be in his late twenties, usually around 26–28. Like Hisoka’s figure, this is best treated as a reference estimate. The evidence base for online age tables is not uniform: some entries draw on official guide material, while others reconstruct ages from chronology or repeat earlier secondary lists.
Ging Freecss: roughly 31–34
Ging is Gon’s father and one of the world’s most accomplished Hunters. He is identified as a Double-Star Ruins Hunter, but his exact age is not as securely established in the supplied evidence as Gon’s licensed age description.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsMost age references place Ging in his early-to-mid thirties during the main story, approximately 31–34. That estimate is consistent with his position as an established professional Hunter and with the fact that he became Gon’s father while still relatively young, but it should not be upgraded to a fully confirmed exact age without checking the relevant Japanese source page by page.
Isaac Netero: over a century old, commonly estimated at 110–120
Netero is among the oldest major human characters in Hunter x Hunter. Reference tables commonly place him somewhere between 110 and 120 years old. Because the supplied evidence does not include a directly quoted official page establishing one exact number, “over a century old” is the most defensible wording in normal article text.
The 110–120 range is still useful for readers comparing character profiles, provided it is labeled as approximate rather than as a definitive birth-date calculation.

Kite: approximately 24–25
Kite is commonly listed as being in his mid-twenties, around 24–25. He is an experienced Hunter and a former student of Ging, which makes his apparent professional maturity easy to overread. The exact age is approximate in the available reference material.

Alluka Zoldyck: approximately 11
Alluka is commonly listed at approximately 11 years old chronologically. That number should be kept distinct from the unusual identity and supernatural circumstances associated with Nanika. Treating Alluka’s age, identity, and appearance as interchangeable creates confusion, especially in simplified online character charts.
Biscuit Krueger: approximately 57–59
Biscuit is commonly placed in her late fifties, around 57–59, despite appearing much younger. Her case is the clearest reminder that apparent age and chronological age are not the same thing in this series.
When readers ask how old Biscuit “really” is, the answer should refer to her chronological age rather than the youthful form she uses in much of the story.
Why online Hunter x Hunter age lists disagree
Age charts often look more precise than the underlying evidence. Several factors produce different answers:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Characters age between arcs. A number that is accurate for the Hunter Exam may not be accurate for the Election arc or later manga material.
- Sources use different starting points. Some count from a manga debut, others from the anime debut, and others from a guidebook profile.
- Guidebook data and manga dialogue are not identical evidence. The official Shueisha Hunter’s Guide is a legitimate character-and-world reference source, but a guidebook entry should still be identified as reference material rather than presented as though every number were spoken in the manga.
- Some entries are reconstructed. Secondary tables may calculate an age from known events, repeat an older list, or combine several conventions without explaining which one they use.
- Appearance can be misleading. Biscuit is the obvious example, while Alluka’s age also requires careful separation of chronology from identity and supernatural context.
Accordingly, “commonly cited,” “approximately,” and “depending on the story point” are not evasions. They are more accurate than false precision.

A “current age” answer must state its cutoff. The 2011 anime ends around manga chapter 339, while the official VIZ chapter catalog cited for this article continues beyond chapter 400 and lists material through chapter 415. The manga therefore extends well beyond the endpoint most anime-only viewers use when comparing ages.

That matters particularly for Kurapika, who becomes central again in the later material, and for any attempt to give a character a single present-day age. A table based on the Hunter Exam, the end of the anime, the Election arc, and the latest listed manga chapters is not measuring the same moment.
Readers who want to compare the story chronology with the licensed volumes can look for the Hunter x Hunter manga. The official reference material is also useful: Shueisha’s Hunter’s Guide is designed to cover the principal cast, supporting characters, and the wider world. Availability, language, price, and retailer stock vary by country, so those details should be checked before buying.

How old is Killua Zoldyck?
Killua is approximately the same age as Gon: around 11–12 early in the story and in the early-teen range later.
How old is Leorio?

The Bottom Line
The safest answer is a story-period range, not a timeless single number. Gon and Killua begin around 11–12, Leorio is about 19, and the later ages of characters such as Kurapika, Hisoka, Ging, Netero, Kite, Alluka, and Biscuit are best treated as approximate reference figures unless a primary source is checked directly.
