What is Season 2, Part 2 about?
The second half of the season begins with a startling change in Kimmie’s status. The Part 2 trailer points to a conflict involving money, sex, violence, family control and unstable alliances. Kimmie’s new position gives her influence, but it does not make her safe. In fact, becoming the person in charge gives the Bellaries and their enemies a stronger reason to target her.
Gina is a new threat
Part 2 introduces Gina, played by Jasmine Burke, as a new antagonist. Promotional material shows Gina confronting Olivia, expanding the danger beyond the existing struggle among the Bellarie family members.
Gina is important because she does not replace the established conflict. Roy, Charles, Norman and Olivia remain connected to the fight over the family business, while Gina adds another unpredictable pressure point. Kimmie has to deal with threats inside the company and dangers from people whose motives are not necessarily tied to the Bellarie succession dispute.

One of the most consequential developments in Part 2 is the change in Kimmie’s relationship with Mallory. Earlier in the series, Mallory was one of Kimmie’s most intimidating opponents. Their relationship was defined by competition, suspicion and unequal power.

Mallory understands the family and the business from the inside. Kimmie has the authority Horace gave her, as well as a willingness to question how the company operates. Working together gives both women leverage: Kimmie gains an ally with insider knowledge, while Mallory gains a way to challenge Roy and protect her own interests.

Kimmie survives and takes control
Kimmie survives the season and moves beyond the role of a ceremonial heir. After marrying Horace at his hospital bedside, she begins conducting her own research and developing a plan for the Beauty in Black business. Horace is undergoing cancer treatment in Italy, leaving Kimmie to deal with the company and its internal opposition while he is away.
Her arc is therefore about more than gaining a title. Kimmie starts using the authority Horace gave her to make deliberate business decisions. The former outsider is becoming an executive and a Bellarie power player, although the family’s resistance makes clear that authority on paper is not the same as control in practice.
Why the Kimmie-Mallory alliance matters
The finale places Mallory beside Kimmie at a board meeting. That moment is the season’s biggest structural change. Mallory’s position beside Kimmie suggests that the old divisions within the family can be rearranged when the women face a common threat.
The alliance is still cautious. Mallory has her own interests, and the finale does not erase the hostility between them. Instead, it creates a temporary but meaningful partnership based on strategy and survival. Kimmie now has support from someone who knows the Bellarie business intimately, while Mallory has a route to challenge Roy and preserve her own influence.

Jules’ investigation is unresolved
The finale also leaves Jules on a dangerous path. He remains determined to learn the truth about his son Glen’s death. His grief becomes a bridge into the next season, where the search for answers is expected to continue pushing him into conflict.
That unresolved investigation reinforces the nature of the ending. Kimmie has gained power, but she has not achieved a clean victory. She has more responsibility, more enemies and more reasons to distrust the people around her. The finale is best understood as a new alignment rather than a final resolution.

Netflix’s latest official update, dated August 5, 2026, says that Beauty in Black Season 3 premieres August 27, 2026. The next chapter will test whether Kimmie can hold on to the power she has fought to obtain now that she has begun building support around herself.
Season 3’s announced story threads include Kimmie’s attempt to consolidate her authority, continuing power struggles within the Bellarie family and Jules’s investigation into Glen’s death.
